    A cold winter’s night, the music player set on a low volume, Christmas music mumbled through the house. A bean laid in his bed sound asleep, Marino was this bean’s name. Marino stay still and silent in bed as the music began to disappear under the sounds of bells. The ringing came all throughout the house, louder, and louder. It would ring form every dark corning and every open space, but Marina still did not awake. A loud thump came from the bean’s undersized house chimney. A red fabric bag hit the wood fire, snuffing it out in an instant. Footsteps clicked across the hard wood floor, a light sneeze of what sounded like and elderly man, then the sound of drinking and chewing. When the sound stopped and it was as quiet as a church mouse, it was interrupted by an unusual noise this time. Almost like the sound of twinkling fairy dust, or stars shining. Marino’s eyes shot open as he ran to his window and saw a red sleigh run by 8 caribou with a red hat with a white ball at the end at the end popping out of the sleigh. “Merry Christmas…and to all a good night.” He walked back over to his bed and fell back to sleep.

name: Marzipan
gender: male

favourite christmas memory:
Marzipan padded through the kitchen with a cookbook under his arm. He was on a mission.
Digging through a cupboard, he retrieved a huge metal bowl. He set this on the marble counter, flipping to a marked page in the cookbook. "Gingerbread cookies", read the heading. Licking his lips, Pan read the ingredients to himself: flour, brown sugar, egg, spices, molasses... the usual stuff. He had already made the same recipe over and over; in fact he made it every Christmas because they were his favourite cookies.
After a few moments of rummaging through the cupboards, Pan discovered he was missing a crucial ingredient: cinnamon. Of all the things he could have forgotten to buy! Luckily, the convenience store was only a few minutes away.
One trip to the convenience store later, Pan got ready to really buckle down and get to work. He preheated the oven, making sure to get the temperature just right. The ingredients were poured into the enormous bowl one by one, and soon he had a delicious-smelling dough. The aroma was tempting, but he managed to restrain himself, only taking a small taste. He chided himself and returned to the kitchen to get a rolling pin and cookie cutters.
Wielding a rolling pin like a sword, Pan returned to the cookie dough, only to discover that it had been nibbled at! Sure, he had taken a bit, but not that much... right?
An odd suspicion crept over Pan, and he furrowed his brow as he went to work on the cookies. Once the dough was rolled to a uniform thickness -- perfection! -- he started pressing the metal shapes into it: rocking horses, trees, stars, even candy canes. The cookies smelled heavenly, but he would have to control himself. After all, these were for Santa.
Pan shook himself. Hey, a second ago there were six rocking horses, and now there were only five! Had he taken one without knowing it? He really would have to pay attention.
Once the cookies were all cut out and spread out on the cookie sheets, Pan allowed himself a break. And a nibble... or two or three. He counted the cookies carefully: twenty-nine. Wait... he counted them again. Yes, twenty-nine. He was sure of it.
After a glass of eggnog, Pan recounted the cookies. What?! Now there were only twenty-eight, and he was SURE he hadn’t eaten any. So if he didn’t eat them, who did?
Hearing a tiny moan, Pan looked under the table. His puppy, Toby, was lying on the linoleum floor -- and he had cookie crumbs all over his wet black nose!
“Gotcha,” Pan laughed, pulling the tiny pug out from under the table. “You know you shouldn’t be eating these, they’re for Santa!”
Even though some of the cookies had been eaten, there were plenty left for a great snack. Pan left a few out on Christmas Eve, and when he woke up...
“Santa was here!” Pan cried gleefully. Running for his presents, he tore the shiny wrapping paper off the first one: a brand-new cookbook!
“Thank you Santa,” Pan whispered. “This is a merry Christmas after all.”

Name;

This little boy's name would be Eli.

Gender;

Male.

Favorite Christmas memory;

December 23rd, two days before Christmas, I arrived in California. It was late, about 8:00 pm when we got there. Our family of five had come down to visit our grandparents who were regular snowbirds, always getting away from town just before the snow hit. As for us, our home gets quite the snowfall during the winter (and most of fall and spring too). Point is, this year our family was very grateful to finally spend Christmas someplace warm.

“Eli! Come on!” shouted my mother up ahead.

“Sorry! I got caught up in my thoughts!” I yelled back as I picked up my pace. As I walked I enjoyed the palm trees, the heat coming off the pavement, and the warm breeze brushing my fur. Much to my dismay, I had a winter coat growing in so I was as sweaty as a runner after a race. At that point, I could already tell this Christmas would be different.

About 30 minutes later, we had arrived at our grandparents’ house. They welcomed us with open arms and lots of kisses. And I mean a LOT of kisses.

Once in the house, we started unpacking and getting settled in for the four days we would be there. I was apparently to sleep on the brown leather couch in the living room. On the upside, at least during the night I wouldn’t overheat. Then it was time for bed, as we had another big day tomorrow. Christmas Eve in fact!
***
Christmas Eve turned out pretty typical, aside from the fact that we lounged at the pool for most of the day. My brother, sister and I had tons of fun diving in and splashing each other. It was great!

During the evening, we ate a dinner of Chinese food and then went to church. Now I know what you’re thinking, why Chinese food??? I was also wondering that, it didn’t seem very Christmas-y at all. In fact, this year we seemed to have thrown away most of our Christmas traditions. We never even baked Christmas cookies!

By the time I went to bed, it still didn’t feel like Christmas except for my sister, who was so excited for the next day she was practically bouncing off the walls. That night, I slept surprisingly well.
***
The next morning, I woke up to my sister jumping on me. “It’s Christmas!!” she shouted.

“I know, I know,” I smiled. “What time is it even?” I asked groggily, still tired. She pointed at the clock. I stared at it for a second before actually taking it in. “5:34?!” I scream-whispered. “Why so early?”

“I was excited…” she grinned. In a second, before my tired eyes had adjusted to the lighting, she had disappeared.

In a couple more minutes, she had woken up everybody else in the house and everyone was downstairs in the living room. Time to open presents now that everybody was up.

Christmas morning turned out good but it still didn’t feel like it by the time we had dinner -probably because we spent the day at the pool again-, which was about the only Christmas tradition we had all day. Why Christmas dinner? Well, it was only because we had cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes for dinner like we every Christmas.
***
The rest of those four days went by in a bit of a blur and by the time we got home I was missing the snow. Without snow, it felt like Christmas never happened. But at least we got to spend Christmas with our family, so everything was good.

Name; Christopher de Crisp is his full name. The younger children always seem to mispronounce his name so he was given the nickname Chris.
Gender; Male
Favorite Christmas memory;
He passed by the frail girl many times on his way to the store to get baking supplies. She was always snuggled into a ragged blanket, trying to keep warm in the freezing temperatures. And each time he felt guilty for just ignoring her when she glanced at him and other passerbys, her eyes wide, hoping a kind bean would perhaps give her something to eat or keep warm. How would you feel if you were in her shoes? He always asked himself when he was walking back to his house. Alone and freezing in the cold?

On Christmas Eve, Christopher once again went to the grocery store, buying some supplies he needed to make some snickerdoodle cookies, his favorite. This time when he was walking back home and the girl made eye contact with him, he smiled lightly at her. And to his amazement, she smiled back! By the time he was opening the door to his house, Christopher was glowing with inner-happiness. That night, Chris stayed up late baking. The smell of the snickerdoodle cookies were overwhelming, and he caught a bean once or twice peering into his windows to see what the delicious scent was. By midnight, all of the cookies had been baked to a golden crisp and laid on kitchen table. He picked up ine of the cookies and dipped it in some milk, savoring the flavor and taste in his mouth. Oh, how lucky he was, enjoying these delicious cookies. Luckier then those outside, luckier then-

The image of the small girl smiling popped into his head. The poor girl.. he murmured. What was she doing now, as he ate the cookie? He raced to the door, opening it and shivering as the late night air greeted him. How could she be able to survive this weather? He slowly closed the door and trudged into his bed, ignoring the cookies that made him drool at their sight, but now just made him feel guilt in his stomach.

What am I supposed to do? He laid in his bed, thinking. But he could think of no answer. The question continued to float in his mind, leaving him restless, tossing and turning in his sleep. He would check the time every so often. 1 o'clock. 2 o'clock. 3 o'clock. Finally, sleep overtook him and his eyes fluttered shut.

Christmas morning. His alarm beeped, making him open his eyes, and turn off the alarm, yawning. It had taken him three hours to think of a solution before falling asleep, but he finally did it. Now, as he was getting out of bed, he rushed to put in a warm change of clothes. He raced to the kitchen, packaging a small portion of the cookies in a box, putting a bottle of milk next to them.He ran pack into his room, and grabbed the warmest looking blanket he could find. Finally, he put all of the items in his hands, and walked out of his house, heading to the grocery store.

He arrived at the grocery store minutes later. He looked around, and found the bean snuggled into her blanket. Quietly, he put the cookies, milk, and blanket right next to her, trying not to make a noise. But he tripped over a rock, causing him to fall. Not wanting to be caught, he hid behind a bush, still watching the young girl. She awoke, her eyes wide, and turned to see the gift Chris had left her. Her mouth opened with amazement, and she ate one of the cookies, licking her lips. When she put the new blanket around her, she smiled and started to cry, snuggling into it like she was in a cocoon, and fell back asleep with the smile still on her face.

To this day, Chris remembers this girl, and each time he smiles with such happiness he could probably light up the whole world.

Yule loves bell. Every year, since he can remember, his Mum would bring out the decoration box. While his sisters and brothers flocked to tinsel and bright red christmas balls, Yule was entranced by the bells. He would take them out, and place them everywhere. His relatives would groan when they sat down on the couch and heard a jingle, but Yule would smile. It was music to his ears. Each bell was unique, making a different sound. Sometimes he imagined an entire symphony, christmas bells, church bells, school bells, the whole lots, ringing just for him. Bells. That's a memory he carries with him everywhere. Literally.

Name; Jingle

Favorite Christmas memory;

The smell of sweet sugar cookies and delicious gingerbread ones wafted towards my nose. It was Christmas eve, and I sighed happily. Christmas had always been my favorite holiday. Always had been, always would be. This year, I donned my brand new pair of realistic-looking reindeer antlers and a necklace with two holly leaves and a shining bell on it. I wasnt Jingle for nothing!
I ran down the street, stopping at the park where I heard two aged human women talking.
"I just cant afford anything for Lucy this christmas." The dark haired one said.
"I know hon but its christmas eve, I can't help you now. I'm sorry" The blonde stood up and walked away.
"But" The other began to cry. "She doesn't even have a Christmas tree"
what else could I do? I followed the woman one she left the playground and covertly got her address. Just a street away from the forest where I lived.
I had to help. I hated knowing that there were good people going without a good Christmas and I just couldn't let it happen.
I went to my den, and found anything I had of value. I took out to a nearby pawn store, trading it for as many little girl toys as I could, and a tree and decorations. Later that night I weaseled my way up the house and climbed down the chimney.
There in the livingroom was nothing but an old battered rig and an old television, and the rest of the house seemed just as sparse.
I quickly set up the tree, and decorated it, then placed the wrapped gifts under the tree that said "from: Jingle To: Lucy"
I ate up the delicious gingerbread cookies in the kitchen that she had left for santa and drank the egg nog. there was a note to santa and I read it.
"Daer Santa Clause
i know mommy doesnt have alot of muney so
I dont realy care if you get me anything for chrismas. All I want is for my daddy to come back from afganistand. That will make mommy happy too.
Thank you santa"
Tears streamed down my face as I read the letter. I kept it and waited outside the house, peering through one of the bushes outside the window. Just before the sun rose, a car pulled up to the house. A man in a camo uniform strolled up to the house and rand the doorbell. The dark haired woman came down the stairs tiredly and he rang again. She opened the door and he ran in and hugged her, lifting her off the floor and spinning around. She squealed in happiness.
it wasn't until a tiny person in a bright pink nightgown with short brown hair came down and turned on the lights that my work was noticed.
"Santa got my letter! Santa brought daddy back!" She danced around. Her mother and father gleamed at the Christmas scene and nodded, "No it wasn't Santa." Her father laughed.
She looked at the tag top a present.
"Who's Jingle?" She asked.
"It must be a Christmas miracle" Her mother smiled.
I smiled and walked away, glad I could be part of such a Christmas miracle.

    Rosiestar, but you can call me Rosie! <3 I am currently the owner of one JBD named Mushka c:

    Name;;
    Snickerdoodle, when I read that this boy was based off of a (burnt) cookie I realized that this boy reminded me of snickerdoodle cookies <3

    Gender;;
    Male, even though this is what you have set for his gender, I would have probably made him a boy anyway <3

    Favorite Christmas memory;;
    -----This story takes place on a special night in the household of happy Beans.
    Snickerdoodle was just a little toddler when this particular Christmas stood out upon them all. Doodle was helping his mother put up ornaments on the Christmas tree when his father called him over to the window. "C'mere Doodle! Come take a look at this." Doodle's big eyes brightened and he scampered over to his dad.
    -----"What is it daddy?" He asked.
    -----"Look out the window." His father lifted Snickerdoodle onto his knee and pointed at the window. Fresh snow gathered on the ground as the sparkling white flecks fell from the sky.
    -----"Woooooow." Doodle gazed at the snow in wonderment. His nose was pushed up against the window and his mother laughed.
    -----"You had better go to bed soon my little Jingle Bell. Otherwise Santa won't bring you any presents!" Doodle pulled his face off the window and glanced back at the snow one last time.
    -----"K, Momma." Doodle gave his daddy a hug and hopped off his lap. "Night Daddy!" He stumbled over a bit of ribbon and flopped down onto the ground in front of his momma. Doodle gave his mom a huge grin and got up onto his paws. "Whoops." His mother laughed and kissed Snickerdoodle's forehead.
    -----"Goodnight my little Jingle Bell." His mother said with a smile.
    -----"Goodnight Momma! Goodnight Daddy!" Both of his parents smiled as Doodle scampered up the stairs and into his bedroom. Doodle climbed into bed and reached under the covers, he pulled out a fluffy orange cat. The cat started to purr as he pulled it close to him and cuddled it. "Night Marmalade." He whispered to the cat.

    -----Doodle awoke to a white Christmas morning. He slowly climbed out of bed and looked out the window. Doodle grinned and grabbed Marmalade. He held the fluffy cat just like a teddy bear (only hanging by it's front paws). Snickerdoodle walked into his parents room and pawed at his mother's face. "Mom! Mom! Wake up Mom, it's Christmas!" He jumped up on the bed and pawed at his father's face as well.
    -----"Merry Christmas my little Jingle Bell!" Doodle's mother said as she grabbed him and pulled him into her warm fur for a big bear hug. Snickerdoodle's father laughed.
    -----"Merry Christmas." His father said. Doodle jumped off the bed and chased after Marmalade (who had decided to get away while he could). When Doodle succeeded in grabbing the cat he scampered down the stairs and almost ran into the tree. Doodle gazed at all the presents underneath the tree.
    -----Snickerdoodle's eyes grew wide as he managed to get out a single word "Wooooow!"

    -----Later that morning, after Doodle had opened all of his presents, his mother called him over to the couch. "Yeah Momma?" Doodle said as he sat in between his parents.
    -----"Me and Daddy have a special Christmas gift for you that we decided to save for last..." Snickerdoodle's mother handed him a small box. It was wrapped in glittering golden paper.
    -----"What is it?" Doodle asked.
    -----His father laughed "That's the whole fun of opening it!" His mother giggled too.
    -----"Oh! Uh, yeah..." Doodle grinned. The box was little and very easy to open. Doodle lifted off the lid and peeked inside the box. He pulled out two little bells on a golden string. The bells were polished gold and when Doodle rang them the most angelic sound Snickerdoodle had ever heard rang out. "Wow..." Doodle gasped.
    -----"Let me help..." His mother took the bells from his hand and said "Hold out your tail." Doodle followed his mother's request and held out his tail. His mother took the string and tied it to the end of his tail. "There you go. Now they will be with you wherever you go."
    -----Doodle smiled and looked at both his parents "Thank you." He hugged both of them tightly.
THE END

Name
    Derrick

Gender
    Male

Favorite Christmas memory
    Derrick was an orphan. No owner, no mother or father. He usually spent December 25th in his cardboard box behind a dumpster, but that’s where he lived pretty much every day. Being a homeless bean was not fun for young little Derrick, there was little food to eat, and no one wanted to befriend a trashy little pest like him. He actually disliked Christmas because everyone spoke of charity and kindness, but no one ever gave any to him. But this is the story of how Derrick changed his mind about Christmas, and this is the story of his favorite Christmas memory.

    Derrick slipped past the bakery catching whiffs of bread and cakes, wishing he could get his paws on a small loaf. All he had was a penny though, and he wanted to save it until later. The cold snow burned his paws as he treaded across the side-walk, the chilly wind nipped at his ears. “What a terrible time to have a holiday.” He said looking up at a department store window advertising a large Christmas sale. He turned the corner and ran into a pink and blue bean who was carrying a bag of scarves. “Omph!” They said simultaneously, falling backwards onto the snow. “Sorry, sorry, sorry!” The pink and blue bean said quickly, picking up the bag of scarves. Derrick grunted and shook off the snow. “Sorry.” He grunted. He began to walk away when he realized that his small money parcel was no longer jingling. His penny! It was gone, it must have fallen when he hit that pink and blue bean. He scampered back to where the collision had happened, and found that his little penny was gone. He glanced around frantically, no penny meant no food, and no food meant no semi-full stomach! He glanced up the street and saw the pink and blue bean again, but before he looked away, he saw a flash of something shiny in her mouth! There it was! Derrick sped up the sidewalk, he was on a mission. He needed that penny more than anything else. But before he could get to the mysterious bean she turned and entered the bakery, closing the door behind her. Derrick now had to do something he’d always been too afraid to do on his own; enter a shop. He had been in one once or twice, but the experience was always too upsetting, often ending up with the shop owner shooing him and his ‘filth’ out. He swallowed hard and placed his frozen paw on the handle, and pushed. He entered into the pink-walled froo-froo bakery with an undignified look on his face. He slowly pawed his way up to the counter and rang the little bell. To his surprise, the pink and blue bean popped up from behind the counter and said with a smile, “Oh, it’s you!” Derrick was taken aback by her words, they had a tone of kindness, not spite. “What brings you here?” She said in a smiley sing-song voice. Derrick swallowed hard. “I-I dropped my penny when I crashed into you, miss.” The pink and blue bean suddenly had a look of revelation on her face, “Oh… That explains a lot!” She said placing the penny onto the counter. “What’s your name?” She asked. Derrick looked very relieved to have regained his penny and before he could reply, he noticed a tray of burnt cookies on the shelf behind the pink and blue bean. He gazed at the cookies, they looked good even though they were a deep shade of brown. Without thinking, he replied with, “Burnt cookie.” in a dreamy voice, imagining biting into one of those delicious treats. “Burnt Cookie, eh?” The pink and blue bean giggled, “I like it, it matches your fur well!” Derrick was shaken back into reality, “Oh no, my name isn’t burnt cookie, it’s Derrick! I was just noticing those over-baked cookies and wondering, would you take my penny for one of them?” The blue and pink bean gave him a look of pity, and then said, “Oh no, I wouldn’t want you to waste your penny for one of those! Where do you live?”
    “I live in a box behind a dumpster just outside.” He replied in a not-caring voice.
    “A dumpster?” She almost sobbed, “No one should be in a dumpster on Christmas! Here, you can stay here with me, we have a guest room.” She said shooing him up the stairs to her apartment above. “There’s a bathroom if you want to wash up, and I’ll be getting christmas dinner made down here if you need me.”
    Derrick was startled by all this hospitality. He waddled reluctantly up the stairs until he came into an apartment just above the bakery, just as pink and frilly as downstairs. He found the guest room and took a bath, which was wonderful because of the warm water. The bath made him look significantly different. He liked being clean. He found his way to the spare bedroom and flopped on the beany-bed, which was like a doggy bed for Beans. Hours past and Derrick woke up with a start, not remembering how he had gotten there for a few moments. He opened his sleepy eyes and yawned. The window told him it was around 7:00 and it was heavily snowing. The pink and blue bean opened the door and came in with a platter of foods and some blankets. “I forgot to mention my name.” She said as she placed the things on the floor in front of him with care. “My name is Penelope, I belong to Bottle.”
    “Who is Bottle?” Derrick asked.
    “She’s my wonderful mommy, and she can be your owner too if you want to stay here with me.” Penelope grinned. Derrick thought for a moment, and was suddenly shocked by the amount of generosity displayed by this unknown bean. Derrick was filled with what he would describe in the future as Christmas joy, and he looked back into Penelope’s eyes and said, “Thank you Miss Penelope, I shall think about it. Merry Christmas.”
