Equid's Name: Dahlia - For some reason she reminds me of the “Black Dahlia” case...
I dunno, I just get a chilling vibe off of her, even though she’s so beautiful. <3
Age: 6
Height: 14hh
Gender: Mare
Personality: A personality for Dahlia.... hmm, so she’s only allowed one then?
Funny, I know there’s a second one in there. Let’s just start off with the first to make things less confusing.
Dahlia is a very quaint, well-mannered equid. Talking to her is almost like traveling back to a different time period, her thought pattern and way of speaking emulating something you’d encounter in the 20s or maybe even 30s. She’s opinionated, animated, and always on the move, highly optimistic and always willing to have a good time when it’s available. Something about her just demands to be noticed, and she radiates an air of something distinctively upper-class. She can be slightly flirtatious, but not overly so; she has a strict assembly of boundaries she adheres to, and can even be shy if it's somebody special.
She can also be ruffled very easily, though never lastingly... which brings us around to that second personality.
Rem rarely has anything good to say, mostly because she doesn’t trust anybody or anything. She agrees to disagree on most decisions. She’s bossy, rude, and usually has a lot of negative, hyper cynical input to go around. This extra consciousness, this entity... she can leave Dahlia frustrated and exceedingly evasive on a bad day. The poor thing would argue that she's not crazy. And so would the other one. It's almost as if two souls ended up crammed into the same body, and they're so different from one another that it's as if they were thrown together by a divine act of humor. I mean, it’s none stop conflict; you’re looking at a malignant, volatile presence here, confined into a small space with a relatively bright and happy one. And they're trapped together, forever, with no relief in sight.
They don’t often speak verbally to each other anymore, that is one thing they're starting to cooperate on. After 6 years, any kind of collaboration is one step closer to peace, if such a thing exists for them. They're most successful, however, and most important compromise would have to been this: as long as Rem doesn’t try to randomly take control, she can do as she pleases without resistance every three days. During this time, she is the dominant while Dahlia watches, when it used to always be the other way around. She gets 3 days before they switch back, and then Dahlia gets three days, and so forth on into infinity. They live in a manner in which one always resides within the other's consciousness in a backseat type manner; watching and thinking, but as invisible as a thought or dream. Their dialogue occurs unheard and inconspicuously, that way nobody can tell there’s two drivers unless they’ve been told. Miraculously, even Rem agrees that the world should only know of one.
At times, there being the two of them trapped in there together has been an unforgiving battle of wills. When Dahlia was little, Rem was the ruination of any kind of normalcy that could have settled into her life. Rem constantly pushing, infuriated by having to share, making her do humiliating things just out of spite. But other times, it’s kept them both alive.
Story: A world ignited; the firestorm danced manically in my fearful eyes. I could feel us burning when she jumped.
