Sturdy hooves pound the ground
Western rider gallop around
The barrels are set for action
The riders receive little caution
The horses are ready for racing
They are anxious and eagerly pacing
The event begins and the timer starts
A grey stallion is the one who darts
He circles the first barrel with ease
His rider, he wishes to please
He chases to the next obstacle
His breathing now audible
He spun on his hooves around the barrel
A neigh comes from a horse of sorrel
He ignores this distraction
And so easily he regains his traction
He races towards the last one
This round is almost done
He circles it and sprints back
There is nothing he may lack
He reaches the end and with a sudden stop
He looked up at the time, he was top
He had won the event
All the training was well spent
He had won the praise of his rider
His smile grew much wider
He couldn't wait until the next completion
Winning it is his most valuable mission
