Winter once again
And put on your warm fuzzy sweater
Cause you'll feel much better when
The snowflakes fall
Gently to the ground
The temperature drops
And your shivers freeze all the rivers around
But I keep you warm
If speed's a pro
Inertia must be a con
Cause the cold wind blows at precise rates
When I've got my ice skates on
If all the roads
Were paved with ice that wouldn't thaw or crack
I could skate from Maine to Nebraska
Then on to Alaska and back
Cause you keep me warm
Peer over the edge
Can you see me?
Rivulets flow from your eyes
Paint runs from your mouth
Like a waterfall
And your lungs crystalize
I'll travel the sub-zero tundra
I'll brave glaciers and frozen lakes
And that's just the tip of the iceberg
I'll do whatever it takes
To change
Farewell powdery paradise
We'd rather skate on the thinnest ice
Fingers failed us before they froze
Frostbite bit down on all our toes
Snow drifts build up and enfold us
As we wait out this winter storm
So we snuggle close in the darkness
And keep each other so warm

Indigo

Stallion

Indigo's companion, guide, and best friend is a female Australian Shepard named Shadow. She was present when he was born, and his mother ended up rejecting him. Shadow knew that Indigo was a little different and would need help making his way through the world. So Shadow took him in, teaching him about the world in such a way that he was able to picture it in his mind. Shadow's owner is an aspiring poet named Eliza, and Shadow picked up on a lot of the words she used, and the way she described things. Shadow then used this information to better describe the surroundings to Indigo without simply naming colors. The two formed an extremely close bond, and even now when Indigo is 5 and Shadow is 9, they still never leave each other's side. Indigo has created a map of the stables inside of his head based on how many steps he must take to reach a certain destination, so he really doesn't need a guide, but he loves having Shadow around, and Shadow loves being around him. They go together perfectly.

"Okay let's review shall we? How many steps from the entrance of the barn, to the pasture gate?" Shadow questioned, padding up next to the colt and standing right beside to him, so that she was almost rubbing right alongside his spindly legs. "Fifteen!" Came Indigo's cheerful reply. The blind foal stared forward with a big grin on his face, eager to find what the surprise that Shadow had in store for him was. He could hardly contain himself. "Correct!" Shadow exclaimed, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Now this next part will come as quite a shock to you. Just take one slow step forward, and you'll find what the surprise is."
Indigo must have heard everything except the 'slow' part, because he plunged out of the barn and into the outside world, and landed with all 4 hooves in something entirely new to his knowledge. The substance made a soft crunching noise, that was satisfying right up until he registered that it was also cold. Very cold. He let out a surprised whinny, before recoiling and darting back into the safety and warmth of the barn. He stopped right next to Shadow and pressed up against her for reassurance. "What was that?!" He cried.
Shadow chuckled, "That sweetheart, was snow. Remember that day when I taught you about rain?"
"Y-Yeah..."
"Well snow is basically what happens to rain when it freezes up in the sky. Snow falls down in tiny bits called snowflakes, and though to small to see, each of them have a beautiful, unique pattern. No two are ever alike. The snowflakes fall down to create a blanket of shimmering ice across the landscape." Shadow described.
"The snow is white. White is a lovely color, giving off the impression of purity and innocence. It's the color of the dress a little girl with blonde ringlets wears as she runs across an open field. It's the color of a small rabbit scurrying around in the underbrush on a dark winter evening like this. It's the color of everything magical. You have white on your body. Showing up in long stockings on your wobbly little legs and in a large patch over your face, framing your piercing blue eyes and contrasting beautifully with your jet black mane and tail.
Everything is bathed in pale moonlight, and the black of the night sky and the distant forest gives everything a surreal feeling. There is nothing and no one moving or making a sound except for us. It is completely still, deserted. We could pretend we are the only two living creatures left on Earth."
Indigo loved it when Shadow talked. She had a way of describing everything in just the right way that he was able to paint a picture of what it might be. This time he had even gotten a better idea of what he himself looked like. The grin returned to his face as the image began to form in his mind, and after he had completely gathered himself, he took another cautious step out into the snow, easing his way out into the crisp winter air and trying to ignore the numbing cold in his hooves. After a while he got used to it, and began jumping around happily. Shadow trotted after him to make sure he didn't end up hurting himself during his playful romp. However it became clear that Indigo was getting a good sense of direction, and was careful to keep his playing field fairly small. Shadow watched him for a moment, before briefly abandoning all maturity and raced over to join him in frolicking in the snow.
It looked like Indigo's first winter was going to be a great one.

Winner, lovely form, will edit now to fit into Indigo, I loved the story about his first winter, I'd love to hear anything else you he gets up to ^^
