You must know how much I love this. Toothless is only the cutest dragon ever to live. I favor him for a few reasons- One, he can be feisty and nice (rawr :3).

Two, he is protective. Why else would he throw fireballs at people?

Three, he is funny. Just flat out, hard to describe funny.

Finally, he is happy. Usually. But mostly, he is happy, and likes for people to understand him.

Toothless

Named for the reason that at his time of hatching his parents had discovered that Toothless lacked any visible sign of his baby teeth. Thinking it to be a permanent or at least a long-term problem, they chose this name. However, unfortunately for them their newborn son's teeth suddenly poked through within a matter of hours, though by that time they saw it too late and the name stuck.

Toothless has a small number of nicknames, all of which were chosen for different reasons, whether to reflect on his personality or looks, or to sum up his personality. Toothless isn't keen on all of these lovely little endearments and so in some cases he will not appreciate their use.

Gummy -
given to him by his uncle simply as another way to address his short-lived toothless-ness. Also to point out the fact that he loves gummy and jellied treats.

Happy-go-Lucky -
given to him by numerous individuals who know him particularly well... and know that he isn't always the happy, smiley guy that he makes out to be.

Toothy -
his most common nickname used by most. Simply a shortened version of his proper name.

Bud -
used generally by close individuals, such as friends or family.

Growing up Toothless lived within a large multi-family Jam along with his family and several other groups of unrelated Beans. Being so far away from the chaos of the modern mainland for many centuries the Island Jam developed their own culture based on the myths and folklore of the Bean Forefathers that had lived here before.

It is tradition in Toothless' Jam for elder Beans to tell stories of the 'creatures' who once and apparently still do inhabit the island. Many of these creatures are made to scare the younger Beans, or to deliver cautionary tales. A prime and popular example is of a child Bean-eating troll who is believed to patrol the forests every night, told to keep naughty disobedient Beans from straying from the forest paths.
The most popular of all however is the stories of the winged dragons that once roamed the skies surrounding the island in ancient times. Compared to the fluffy, cheery insectivore Beans though, these dragons were thought to have been much larger, with scales, sharp teeth and, most importantly of all, wings. Multiple holidays are done throughout the year to celebrate certain iconic individuals, often in the form of days off work and even grand feasts.

Every year in the Autumn, the first full moon of the season, also known as the Cicada Moon (named for when the particular insect becomes quite plentiful and therefore becomes a food staple) dictates the start of the Cicada Harvest Festival. During this festival it is custom for insects and fruit to be harvested in order to be shared 'round the Jam during the Harvest Feast, which occurs on the last night of the 3-day festival. Throughout this event all Beans in the Jam are expected to wear brightly coloured beads, shells and feathers to symbolise various notions, such as joy and good luck. Darkly coloured items are thought to spell a bad omen.

Involving the winged dragons of myth, the adult Beans will secretly employ a single adult Bean within their adult community to dress up and act as the Black Dragon before the Harvest Feast... and as he fits the bill, Toothless is often the one to volunteer himself to amuse the child-Beans with this custom by donning a pair of black wings complete with a row of matching spikes to complete the illusion under the night. Whomever is playing the role of the Black Dragon is then required to take a basket of fruit and grubs offered by the young Beans, as 'thanks'. And when that is fulfilled, the Beans will partake in various storytelling and dancing activities until past midnight, or until the moon can no longer be seen.

The Cicada Harvest Festival is by far Toothless' favourite Island Jam holiday of the year, and the only one in which he feels perfectly happy and comfortable (as well as the fact that it gives him an excuse to romp and act like a beast of protection, which he so thoroughly enjoys!). It has previously gotten to the point where Toothless has even get a little bit possessive over his precious wings. Even after leaving the island seeking a new life on the mainland, Toothless still fondly retains his wings.

Unfortunately, Toothless is a bit of a fussy chap who's rather hard to please. He knows what he wants and how he wants it, and if perfection is not peaked... then forget about it, you'll probably never get it right. This goes for food too. It's been known for Toothless to starve himself unless he's able to eat something exactly how he likes it.

Moody
From time to time Toothless has been known to get a wee bit moody. Nothing serious. To be fair, just about anything can trigger his moodiness and after an hour or two of pouting he usually springs back to his old, more agreeable self.

Possessive
Toothless likes to keep his things to himself. That includes his oh-so-precious dragon wings and even his favourite gummy fish. Be warned; Toothless doesn't share food...! Well, that is, unless he really likes you.

Affectionate
To those who break past and can avoid those occasional glares and moody remarks, Toothless can get to be quite the affectionate lug once one gets to know him. He's more of a quiet-cuddler than one who likes to discuss matters, out of sheer embarrassment during first-time attempts, so even just pointing these actions out can mean a dissolve of the mood.

Reliable
So maybe he's not the friendliest of Beans on first meeting... but, one can always count on Toothless to get the job done, or at the very least, attempt it. If he's particularly passionate about something or a certain job one can probably guarantee that Toothless will attempt to get the job done.

When he feels nervous or anxious about somethin, Toothless will quickly scratch his left cheek with the opposite front paw.

Toothless likes to collect anything green, be it feathers, shells or even candy wrappers. These 'treasures' are then stashed away in a small wooden box.

Toothless will always sniff something before he eats it.

Toothless dislikes the use of contractions in sentences, so he won't usually use them when speaking.

Toothless is a fun, bubbly ball of fluff that seems to never run out of energy. He loves making friends; no one is a stranger to him.

Important facts;

Toothless isn't actually toothless. When he was born, he actually didn't have teeth, and it stayed that way for a while. His actual name was Blackie. He didn't like that name at all; "But ma, it's not original! I want an original name!" he so often complained when he was just a baby bean. His mother, growing tired of this, began to call him Toothless, since his teeth still hadn't grown in. Toothless actually liked the name; his mother was surprised at this. So they kept his name Toothless, even as his teeth grew in.

Toothless loves fish. Okay, he doesn't actually like to eat real fish. He likes to play with it. He loves going to the lake and catching fish in his teeth, even though he hates the taste. He will then start to play with the fish; giving them names, having tea parties with them (he loves tea) and painting them with barriers. Afterwards, he will set them free back into the lake. But they just float to the top; he doesn't understand why they do this. He believes that they don't want to leave him.

Toothless actually loves fish gummies; the colorful, squishy little candies shaped like fish. They're his favorite snack. He calls himself a "carnivore" because he eats them.



Toothless has a best friend; Robert the black sheep. They go everywhere together, do everything together, etc. Toothless adores Robert. He found Robert half dead in a forest one day. Ever since then they've been inseparable. Toothless believes he can speak sheep. So when Robert "baaa's", Toothless politely translates for any other bean trying to figure out what Robert is saying.


And the most important fact; Toothless wishes he can fly. Of course this is obvious, with his big wings strapped on his back. He can't help it; he watches the birds flying in the sky, so free. He wishes he could be like them. Toothless made the wings himself when he was just a little bean; he's very artistic. He's never let them out of his sight since then.
