Crunch! Crunch! Crunch! Orange, autumn leaves are slowly being stepped on by a mysterious shadow in the dark woods. Meanwhile, a small sneeze was echoed throughout the dark, dreary forest. It was probably heard by all the mysterious creatures of the night. "Darn, I knew I should've worn a heavier jacket," I said while shivering in the cold night. I walked silently, following the path where my flashlight shined.
Today, I was hoping to find some exotic creatures in these woods. Rumors have it that in these woods, you can hear a strange cry called out from nowhere on the night of Halloween. No matter where you looked, you could not find out where the source of the sound came from or so the rumors goes. Well, I couldn't help, but overhear this small rumor. I was intrigued by this strange rumor and I had to find out the truth. This itself was a little weird hobby of mine so don't laugh at me. Finding out the truth to this rumor is quite exciting and thrilling. It boggles my mind on what findings I would come across. I can't wait!
Suddenly, I thought I heard a small crunch like a leaf being stepped on. I immediately spun around hoping to find something. Instead, all I see is the never ending darkness stretching behind me. I gulped, hoping it was just my imagination. I continue to press forward until suddenly the trees started swaying suspiciously. Then, I heard a faint giggling in front of me or so I thought it was in front of me. "Who goes there?" I shouted, hoping for an answer. All I got in return was silence, the giggling stopped. I grew anxious, wondering why the sound stopped. Just when I was about to step forward, a cat-like creature jumped in front of me. I screamed and fell backwards, dropping my flashlight in the process. The flashlight rolled until it stopped and I could see the light shining on the face of the creature that scared me. It stared at me with a calm and collective face. I slowly got up and moved forward towards the strange animal. It didn't move an inch and I began thinking it was crazy for not fleeing. By now, I was up close enough to even pet it and still it just stared at me. I touched its fur and instead of biting or fleeing, it purred? This was getting odd for me.
I kept petting it until I decided it was time to go home. I began walking back until I heard the crunch noise again. I turned around and there it was following me. I tilted my head in confusion. "You want to follow...me?" I cautiously asked. It nodded its head and walked closer. I smiled and allowed it to follow me. Of course, I had no clue what trouble this little critter will bring me.
