Well, that's an interesting question
The reason is that there's this berry juice my family uses to dye stuff.
When I got my feathers, they decided to make them red. In they went in the dye, and red they are, to this very day.

When Amarante's parents chose her feathers, they were looking for green or yellow, to compliment her colours. In their pack, Kiamara's feathers were always chosen to match the eyes of the cub. However, as they searched they took their eyes off of Amarante, and so she ran off on her own. Alerted by her cries, they found her fallen into a river. A passing redhead duck stopped and pushed the struggling cub to the bank; her parents were so grateful they asked if they could have a few of his old feathers to remember this act of kindness.

why are his/her feathers red;; Apples! Tarax absolutely loooooves apples! He was born in the spring, and therefore never seen apples before..... So imagine his surprise when, as he was just chilling under a tree, a shiny red fruit fell right on his silly little head! He didn't quite know what it was at first, but after asking around for a while, he learned of the mysterious object's origins.... And after tasting it, it became his favorite thing in the world! That's why, when he grew old enough to get his feathers, he made them red, to show his love for apples!

she looked up and there was a cardinal. it was almost like destiny at that
very moment the cardinal plucked out two feathers and dropped them in her hands.
from that day on she wore them as a sign of kindness to the bird who had given her its
