Name:
Deluth
(Nicknamed "Dell", just because he prefers that over Deluth, and "Lavo", which means Water)
Gender:
Male
Why does he dislike being blind?:
He has to use imagination. When someone tells him about something they see, describing it out of kindness, he has to piece it together in his imagination. He's aware that the images he tries to piece together in his head are distorted and fuzzy, and though it's meant to make him "see" the beauty without sight, he's put down by the fact that he can't see it crystal clear. He feels deprived of one of the most amazing things of being alive; to be able to see what lies infront of you. In a sunset, he can only feel his warmth on his fur, while his heart stays indifferent since he can't have it's magnificence warm his heart.
Water is the main reason. Water is his cryptonite. The way it feels on his fur and the way others hae described it, it facinates him. He doesn't understand how water works or how it looks; in his mind water always looks the same as ice. He doesn't understand how everything is solid underneath him and/or around him, and yet water can move and bend to any shape and form, how it's so hard to hold. How it can apparently reflect light off it's surface when he can leap right through. How leaves can float on it like a force field while a rock the same size will break it's barrier. How it can be distorted so easily, like images in his mind, and any vibrations he could feel on land can easily be lost by the soft breeze of wind blowing across it's surface.
If he could chose one thing to see; everything would remain black but this one thing; he'd want to see what water looks like to put his heart at ease.
Theme Song:
It's either
Angel with a Shotgun- The Cab or
Demons- Imagine Dragons. It's very VERY close for me...especially between Angel with a Shotgun and Demons. But I would chose Demons if you want me to pick one.
Story:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Fifth Unforgotten"The first time I came in contact with water. It was actually not long ago, a little over a kiamara year ago I think. I had always stayed in shelter whenever it rained, and I never really got out much, so that explains why. I think I was with another kiamara...though my memory has slipped of them. I was too focused on the water then. It could've been a human or a wolf or a talking parrot for all I know...I just can't remember. If I could've seen them, I probably would've remembered. But I could swear it was a pushy, but friendly kia, and I think it was a female by the sound of her voice. She never really told me her name...and never asked for mine either. But anways, I'll keep going."
"I was in a cave when they came. At first I refused to do anything, since I knew it had rained. But back then I was still under the impression that rain was the same as ice, since no one had told me otherwise, and that I would've be able to remember any of the little territory I did know. They realized I couldn't see only a couple minutes after talking to me, since I was looking in the direction of their voice but my eyes would've focus on them. And after I explained vaguely why I didn't want to do anything, they thought it was FUNNY that I was so confused about rain!"
"She said, 'You think rain is solid! Ha! Not even close. You're just going to get you're paws a little wet; it doesn't change the terrain, just makes things a little damp and muddy. Snow is solid, and it just melts into water. Have you never been outside before?!?' They didn't think it was so funny when I just replied 'Barely.' She asked, 'Why?' And I had to explain that I wasn't planning on going outside when I had barely any idea where to put my paws and no one to guide me. My parents had taught me the little territory they could, but I practically refused to learn. So after a little bit of silence, she just went, 'Well, then how about I show you?' And I agreed. Maybe I don't have as bad a memory as I thought."
"I followed them, but she was so eager she let me run into a couple (more like 6) thistles and one (maybe three) trees. But I did realize she was right; I kept slipping on the mud. Evenually, she stopped me and said, 'Be careful. There's a pool up ahead.' Of course...I had to ask her what that was. I was glad she atleast wasn't laughing at me this time. Her description fascinated me...she was actually describing what she saw. I can remember word for word what she said."
" 'It's about noon, so the sun his hitting directly off the water. The ground is sandy around the edges, and it gives way to mud and grass, like what's under you're paws right now. There's a pile of rocks on the opposite left side of the pool, and they're like twice you're height! There are pine trees that are surrounding us everywhere. You probably don't know what a pine tree looks like. Wait do you know what colors look like?' "
"I replied with a yes. I had very limited, fuzzy sight when I was first born. I had learned the colors before I had lost my vision entirely in less than a kiamara month after opening my eyes."
" 'Well, that's better than nothing, right? Anyways, the grass is long and green, and soft as you probably can feel, if you can't remember what that looks like. The mud is dark brown and shiny in the sunlight. The rocks are different shades of grey, and their all smooth circles...kinda. The trees are tall trianges at the top. They trunks are dark brown and the needles are shades of dark green, they can poke you, but not like those thistles that got you! And some of the pine trees have pinecones! Those are dark brown ovals about the size of you're paw. The sky is a soft blue, and has pale silver-white strips painted across it in some parts- and those are clouds. The sun is bright orange and yellow, and it hurts my eyes when I look right at it! And the sand is grainy, tan and yellow-ish. And then the water! It's a pale bluish color, just like you're eyes! It's rippling from the breeze, and it ripples even more when you touch it. The bottom has sand, and the water's clear enough to see right to the bottom! When the light hits it, you can see strands of white dancing across it. And when you stick you're head above it, the light dances on you! It's deep enough that you can sit down in the middle and only have it be up to you're shoulders, so you won't drown! It's shaped like a jellybean- yum! Oh...and jellybeans are candy ovals.' "
"I already knew wat some things looked like...to a vague, distored, fuzzy extent. But I didn't correct her. Her description was beautiful. I was moved by it; like it had taken me out of my seeminly pitiful life and put me in a different world. 'Come on, let's go for a swim!' She then said to me. She put her tail over my shoulders to help lead me to the water, and I was shocked by the cold water! I let her lead me on though until, like she had said, I was sitting down with the water up to my shoulders. I heard her splash around to sit infront of me. 'Isn't it cool?' I held my paws out of the water, looking down at where I thought they were though I probably looked ridiculous and looking in the opposite direction. I prayed to catch a glimpse of it as it slid through my paws, but everything remained black as usual. 'This is amazing,' I said after what I thought was stupidly staring unfocused at my paws."
"I heard her splash away, and I tried to focus on where she was, but the vibrations I used-rather poorly I might add-to find where things were failed. They were distorted in the water. But I think she got out, because I could hear the sand and grass make noise as she splashed out of the water and then walked around the pool to the edge I had entered the pool in. 'Hey Lavo!' She called, and I guessed she was calling to me, and that she wasn't facing me. 'I think you'll get to experience some real rain!' "
"I stood up and started to stumble rather lost towards her voice, but she quickly ran to my side to lead me out of the water with her tail. Suddenly thunder crashed, and rain started to spill. But instead of collecting on me like I expected, it plopped onto me and then slid off my pelt. I couldn't help but be fascinated. She continued to lead me for a little while after I left the water, until she sat me down. 'We're under a tree. That way we won't get as wet.' "
"We were waiting there a while, and I started speaking to myself. I guessed she was staring at me for a while before she asked, 'What are you saying?' I tried to look towards her, though the rain threw off my hearing, and she used her paw to move my head to face her. 'I'm just thinking, I guess. Sometimes when I'm bored, I list off things that are usually ignored, though they're so important. They're forgotten...yet unforgotten.' 'That's cool. Is it like poetry?' I shook my head. 'No. I probably could write poetry in my head if I wanted to, but I wouldn't be very good at it.' "
" 'Well, how many 'unforgottens' have you found?' She asked me. 'Five. The fifth is water...and it's my favorite unforgotten. I can't even remember what the others are, but I remember that water would be the fifth. I can't understand it...I can only 'see' things in a different perspective that those who actually see them, so that may be why. I can only understand that everything is solid to a certain extent-except for water.' She had been laying down, but I could hear her get up. 'The fifth unforgotten...I like the ring to that...Anyways, the rain's getting lighter. We should get you back to you're cave.' "
"So, she lead me with her tail over my shoulders back to my cave. We said our goodbyes, and I knew I'd probably never hear her again. (Notice it's 'hear' again. Hear her again instead of see her again, since I'll probably never SEE her) And I remember the last thing she said was, 'Lavo, you should try going out on you're own. You may have 'refused' to learn the area as a blind pup, but maybe now you'll take the chance to learn. Atleast the path to the pool. But, I better get home. I've been wandering a bit too much! Goodbye, Lavo!' I kind of wish she would've learned my name is Deluth...or Dell more like it instead of "Lavo". But I liked the word "Lavo". I don't remember when, but she had told me Lavo means water."
"I did take her advice. I've learned of new places to find scraps of meat and some fruit, and I've memorized the way to the pool. I've also learned where a river is, and every time it rains, I'm always outside. I hope I thanked her, even though I don't remember, when I said goodbye. For helping me find the fifth unforgotten. Even if I am desperate to SEE it".~~~~~~~~~~~~
