Name:
Daifuku (大福)
Literally meaning "great luck", Daifuku is a Japanese sweet consisting of a small round mochi (soft, glutinous rice cake) stuffed with sweet filling, most commonly anko, sweetened red bean paste made from azuki beans. They are made in many colours, most commonly pale-pink and white.
Her pale pink spots reminded me of these.
Gender:
Female
Companion:
A young Eastern Bluebird that Daifuku nicknamed Ao, meaning 'Blue'. Daifuku found Ao during a particularly harsh winter and took him home. When Spring came, the little bird and the sweet Kiamara were almost inseparable. The feathers Daifuku wears are in fact bluebird feathers, though not from Ao. Daifuku admires Ao's colours for matching so well with her coat, and she often remark that it must have been fate that brought them together. Though the population of bluebirds near her home is great, so much so that the brilliantly-coloured birds are considered vermin, the Kiamara insists that Ao is her treasured companion, and that she would be able to tell him from the other bluebirds on sight.
