Username;; Name;; Name Meaning;; Kano means 'God of the waters', and it's origin is Japanese.
Gender;; Male
I chose male as being the gender because, even though it would make a wonderful female, I see more maleness to it. I have also been on the look out for a male friend for Zareena and this design just seems to go so well with her's. The colours are in perfect contrast with each other. But I think the standout reason I chose male, other than a friend, was the colour of it's hair. To me, if it were female the hair would be a lighter colour.
Crush;; My darling Zareena <3
It seems odd that, with his personality type, Kano would fall for such a girl. My guess is that he's chosen to be blind for her 'negative traits' or just adores them. Zareena keeps telling herself it's the adoration. To me it seems that Zareena was destined to match with a Kiamara of a 'cooler' colour. She's got a very similar colour for her horns and her feathers, so I see this as being fate. To a degree.
Art;; Personality;;
To begin explaining, I'll start with a general overview;;
Kano is a very sweet boy on the inside, but has a 'bad boy' reputation to uphold. He follows the Chivalry code word for word (for the ones that apply to Kiamaras), but somehow manages to not do it in front of everyone. He believes that if he performs these acts in front of everyone, they would think him as being week and unworthy. Kano is afraid that he would lose the ones he thinks love him. Truth is, if Kano wasn't this good looking, he would be bullied by the others until breaking point, but I'll explain the later. He is reluctant to sharing his thoughts with others, thinking they would put him down. Now, by now you're probably thinking that Kano is sinking into depression. I can assure you he's not, and hopefully never will. He's just over thinking and worrying too much about every single little detail. Kano can't just let things slide, he has to put them right. He also can't forget. It's the 'Kano Curse'. His ability to remember everything is what drives others away. It's an extremely rare condition that can be caused by a traumatic experience.
And now for finer details;;
The 'bad-boy-sweet-boy' act is very hard for Kano to uphold. He must remain on the outside a true rule breaker that doesn't do anything in his life for others. In other words, he must appear a selfish, stuck up and plain rude boy to other Kiamaras so that he can remain in the social status he is in. But under only 1 layer of skin, Kano is a really sweetheart. Outside of social places where the other young Kiamaras are, he is completely selfless. The total opposite of his social self. This is the side that he would rather show to the world, because frankly, he isn't at all proud of the 'other self'. Kano carries around a copy of the Chivalry code for him to refer to now and then. He has the basics down, but still has some trouble recalling a couple of them. he follows this code to the point where he's worried that people might find out and bully him for it. Only his dear mother and Zareena know about this. She, Zareena, is perfectly fine with Kano's bipolar-like ways, she finds it quite a challenge to work around but enjoys it.
Kano has a severe case of amittendifamiliaphobia (I made this up from the Latin words for 'losing' and 'family'). He has his family, Zareena and a couple of his closest friends on his mind constantly. In the past Kano used to only think about the worst possible ways he could lose them, but he has trained himself out of this and to either not think or think only positive thoughts. Sometimes this doesn't help, and there are days where Kano is driven mad with these thoughts. No one knows how to help the poor boy, other than to keep his mind occupied constantly. Zareena helps by explaining her shells to him, even though he could repeat her word for word. And you thought Arachnophobia was bad.
Why would Kano be bullied if he wasn't good looking? It's because of his mental conditions and his unusual habits. Kano once had a very bad experience when he was still only very young. He doesn't want to share it with anyone, not even Zareena, so I'll leave you to ponder on what happened. This event was so bad on the young boy's mind that with his mental instability caused him to get a very rare condition that doesn't allow you to forget, anything. if you dare ask him how his day was, he will give you a detailed report minute for minute. best to ask him to sum it up into 100 words. Zareena is the only Kiamara know that can stand his 'Kano Curse'. It allows her to keep track of all the shells she has, and which ones she needs more of. I know you're probably thinking, "Hey, Zareena takes poor Kano for granted and just uses him for her own purposes!" Well, yes in a way, that's just Zareena's selfish ways. But she loves Kano, and every tiny detail about him. Including his unique memory ability.
Kano is a kind and gentle boy, but when push comes to shove, he's all about protecting his family. He will fight until there is a clear winner over his loved ones. Kano becomes very aggressive and doesn't allow anyone to change his mind once it's on an outcome.
Story;;
As Zareena was making a headcount of her shells, she was stunned to find that one was missing. You see, her last count was only 10 minutes ago. She looked in all the possible places it could be hiding from her, but it was not anywhere to be seen. Still puzzled, she walked into her kitchen area, where Kano was trying his hand at making dessert. “Kano, you haven’t seen Plum have you?” (The shell’s name was plum due to the odd colouration.) “No Zareena, I haven’t seen...Plum.” Kano had known Zareena for little over a month now, he still needed to learn all the names of her shells. “Well then, help me look for it.” Her sharp voice told Kano to follow her orders. So he left the kitchen in search for the missing shell.
“Well Zareena, when did you last see it?” Kano was all for logic, if it was seen in the near past, it should still be there. “Only 20 minutes ago! It was right here!” The growing-desperate Zareena pointed to the empty spot on her shelf. “Well that’s peculiar. Where could it have gone?” The pair searched everywhere in Zareena’s home, but still couldn’t find the shell. Zareena was boarding tears now. “Kano! What happens if we can’t find it!” Hearing the attempt to swallow her tears, Kano replied with a simple message, “I can assure you, it will be found. Now, why don’t you go and rest for a while.” The sulking Zareena wouldn’t leave, and grew angry. “Well mister, I didn’t take the shell and you’re the only other Kiamara that’s been in my house for the past half hour.” Kano looked into her eyes, was about to say something when he heard a strange, high-pitched noise coming from the kitchen. The pair looked at each other, then slowly made their way to where the noise was coming from. Once they peered into the doorway, they gasped. Kano had left the pot of sugar on the stove, which was had overflowed hot sticky toffee, leaving a mess on the floor. However, as the Kiamaras proceeded to the mess to clean, the pot gave one large gurgle and spat toffee everywhere, covering both Kano and Zareena. She wasn’t amused. Now, as well as having lost one of her shells, Zareena was also covered in toffee. Kano knew he was in trouble.
After a few harsh words, Kano was now banished from her house until he could come up with an extraordinary apology. He walked along the beach, regretting starting to make the dessert. He kicked at anything he could, trying to get his madness out of him. He kicked at another item, but instead of it flying away, his foot became lodged in the object. Kano looked down, and to his amazement, he found his extraordinary apology.
The next day, Kano went back the Zareena’s house, bearing a large parcel. Reluctantly, she let him in. “Got that apology speech ready? I’m dying to hear it.” Zareena wasn’t in a very good mood, there was still toffee stuck to her. “Yes Zareena, I have my apology. Here,” Kano handed her the parcel carefully. “Don’t shake it.” Zareena was curious to see what would be inside, but also weary. Carefully, she opened it, and when the lid came off her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. “Oh Kano, this is the best apology ever.” She went over and gave him a hug. Kano went red. Zareena took her prize and popped it on the shelf, in Plum’s place. Taking a step back, she was proud to see her prize, but more proud to see that Kano had made it up to her in a way only he could. “Thank you Kano.” Then she lent in and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Kano went an even darker shade of red.
I officially declare this form a work in progress c;
