A Lost Foal

The morning was crisp and clear. No visible clouds hanging in the air, the sun shining in all it's glory. The Spring flowers were beginning to bloom, bringing a certain liveliness to the morning. The smell in the air was clean, almost pure. It smelt of the beautiful flowers on the ground. And on this clear morning a mother watched her young foal play. She smiled kindly, walking along as she observed the foal jumping up ahead. It was a beautiful sight, one that looked like it belonged in Spring. The mother laughed as her daughter, Salith, fell up ahead in a patch of flowers. But no sooner then the foal had fallen had she gotten up and bounced forward. "Don't go too far my darling!" Called the mother, smiling in pride at her youngling. But the young foal had not heeded her mother's warning. Rather instead, the cute bundle dashed through the trees, excited to be able to fully use her legs once again. Salith bounded over a tree log, racing forward after a flying robin. She giggled happily, watching the bird with an incredible amount of curiosity. Eventually the young bird disappeared from Salith's sight and she stopped. She laughed happily. "Bye bird!" Salith called, before turning and heading back to her mother. She trotted through the forest, reappearing in the small clearing of which her mother had last been. But the older Taiga was no where in sight.
Salith turned, looking everywhere. "Momma!" She called out, trying to find where her mother was. But there was no call of which came back. With the idea that she could find her mother Salith began walking back towards the forest, going the same direction that they had been walking. She continued to call out for her mother. But after a few minutes it became a frantic, questioning call. "Momma! Momma! Where are you?" But Salith's mother was nowhere to be found. And young Salith called for day after day, running through the forests in search. While Salith never again saw her mother, she did not lay down and die. Rather she began to view the world in a less foal-like manner. She began observing things and becoming a wise Taiga.

Three Years Later
Salith stepped slowly into the territory of which she had recently found. She wasn't quite sure if anyone had the pleasure of living in this area or not. Her eyes scanned the area, looking for any signs of any Taigas. So far she had seen none. A soft rumble appeared in her stomach, alerting her of the fact that she was hungry. Now appeared as good a time as any to stop and find a place to eat. She walked for a few minutes before finding a small area of which no trees were present, but rather formed small circle. She stepped into it, walking to the center and began to graze. Unknown to her another Taiga, a stallion who owned the territory, had seen her and was rather unhappy. He believed it to be a challenging male. He raced from her perch atop a hill, charging through the trees with all his might. He slowed down as he neared the small circle of where he had seen the Taiga walk. He stopped as he approached, seeing not a male Taiga but a female. He snorted loudly, getting her attention as she raised her head to look at him. Despite the fact that he was an intimidating looking male, she didn't seem to falter, even when he walked forward. "What are you doing here?" He snorted, stomping a foot. Salith turned her body, fully facing the stallion. "Forgive me, I did not know this territory was occupied." She replied calmly to him, dipping her head before looking back up. "I'll be on my way." She told him, turning and beginning to trot off. But much to her surprise the stallion trotted after her, catching up within the first few moments and blocking her path. "Wait, why don't you stay?" He asked. This caused Salith to question him for a moment, unsure of him. He had been angry one moment, though now seemed kind. She watched him silently for a moment before gently nodding her head. "Okay." Salith remained with the stallion and his small herd for about a year when another stallion challenged, Mast, the former stallion and won. In the midst of their fighting Salith left, deciding to once again be on her own for now.

Finding a Friend

Vivid wasn't like all other Taiga's. Her parents died when she was only a couple months old, and therefore, she was alone in the world. It was about two months later, that she was found by humans, and taken back to a ranch. There, she was looked at by several people, and they made bids for her, but of all the bidders, a teenage girl won her. The girl took her home with her, and taught her that she didn't need to be afraid of humans. Vivid learned that the girl's name was Saige, and that she had lived many places, just like her. The two became very close friends, and though Saige could never ride her, she loved her and took great care of her. Finally, Vivid had found a friend, and so had Saige.

"Le sigh." I have absolutely no chance of winning against Darvith. I guess I'll withdraw my form.... Congrats to whoever ends up winning her....

Just because someone has the longest story doesn't always mean they'll win Hidden. I encourage you to try!

Thanks, I appreciate that. I guess I can go ahead and do the art I was wanting to do of her, but I probably won't win.
EDIT: I just realized that I can't do hand-drawn art, since I can't upload it onto the internet. Well, good luck to everyone that's entered, and congratz to the winner. I'd love to do fan-art for the winner, so just PM me if interested. :)
