Poem
{ I don't know how many other people are doing sad poems. I think most are doing happy or funny. But me, being me, chose to do a sad poem. An apology in advance if my poem is long.
Solomon grabs the picture
with a delicate paw.
He tries to hold back the tears
that threaten to stream down his jaw.
He looks down at the photo of his brother
who is grinning as if the world is fair.
His brother’s eyes are shining with life,
life that God was unwilling to share.
The accident that took his brother’s life
happened years ago.
But the scene is still fresh in Solomon’s mind;
the process of moving on is unbearably slow.
Solomon’s brother didn’t see the car coming
at such a high speed.
The humans that hit him called the paramedics
but they didn’t know the amount of help he would need.
Solomon wasn't even a teen when the police showed up at his door
to tell him of the humans sin.
His mother was sobbing, his father was heartbroken
and Solomon just wished he could have told his brother he loved him.
Ten years later, Solomon still mourns over his father figure;
the one who taught him so much.
And whenever Solomon wants to remember,
he picks up the photo... with a gentle touch.
“I will never forget you... brother...”
