Owner's Name: dragoncatofpern (Or the Dragoncat)
Name: Tine Coinnigh (Fire Keeper in Gaelic. I try to give all my runes Gaelic names.)
Gender: Male
Personality: Tine is a calm, affectionate and quick-witted rune, altogether pretty well-rounded. He's crabby and hot tempered at times and calm, thoughtful, and meditative at others. Tine can seem a bit like a philosopher, mostly on the subject of death which makes him rather interesting to be around...
Calm
Tine is steady in a crisis, trustworthy to keep a level head in the case of a problem. Tine rarely freaks out or breaks down and is afraid of very little, making him a great helper to the Ancients.
Quick-witted
Tine may be quick to leap to confusions but is shrewd presence of intelligence and a rapid learner. He is also a rune that truly does learn from his mistakes and is immensely clever, similarly to Raven in Native American mythology. A trickster to be sure.
Hot-Tempered
Certain runes have a cold temper. Some have no temper. Tine is quick to anger and boilingly hot-tempered. If he takes offense he is passive aggressive about it but gives you plenty of warning that you've done something wrong by him.
Philosophical
Tine's calm, removed nature makes him a bit of a philosopher, mostly about death. He thinks of it not as an end, for example, but rather as a beginning and refuses to fear death. Tine loves poking ideas and looking at them from every conceivable angle. He gets some rather queer ideas into his head at times...
Affectionate
If you can crack Tine's shell of neutral remove you'll see that he really is a sweet little rune at heart. He loves only those he trusts, however, or at least only permits himself to. To those he does love so very much he is immensely loyal and constantly forgiving. Tine would brave fire and flood for one he loves.
Mysterious
Tine tends to try and keep a certain air of mystery about him. He's not quite as successful at it as most cats or some other runes but it's hard to learn a terribly huge amount about him.

Why you want him/her:
I was wandering through the forum, wondering what I was supposed to do when I saw the Rune Dragons. I read the entire post. I don't have any pets other than the forum pets so, well, I had no idea how to get one of these. The first Rune I really fell in love with was the baby mist rune and I tried to get her but failed. I waited a few months after that, discouraged by the amount of entrants for these little dragons and the rarity of Runes I really like. Now I've found this one which I really adore and hope desperately that I get chosen for him. In all, I love the Rune, have no non-site pets, and have a great idea to put in the other category.
This little one captured my heart. He looks like a campfire blazing on before my eyes, lighting up the darkness and warming the cold souls nearby. He looks like leaves, falling in bright waterfalls of orange, red, and yellow. He looks like the very essence of autumn to me and that is how I gave him that personality.
Where will you keep him/her?
I will keep him in a character thread, in my siggie, on my computer. He will even have his own thread for a sort of journal of his adventures. (Of which he is sure to have many)
Will you breed him/her when fully grown?
Maybe. If I somehow manage to work out who else will breed with me, how to, and all that than I will.
Quirks:
• Tine loves to blow bubbles for some reason. He'll take any chance to do so unless a female is nearby.
• Tine always goes to the top of one particular hill to watch the sunset in absolute silence. From the moment the sun touches the horizon to the time when the last ray of light is gone, Tine is there. He sits and regards the twilit landscape, thinking. That is when Tine is the most remote and odd. Thoughtful.
• Tine often climbs to the top of trees and glides down. That is the closest he can get to flying at this age, after all, for he has not yet fledged.
• Tine has a strange love of apples, anything apples. He'll bob for apples, eat apples, drink apple cider, and sleep in a basket full of apples if he can get away with it. Tine is just crazy for apples. More like an obsession than a like so I didn't stick it under likes.
Talents: Tine has a certain knack for climbing things, especially trees and loves to do that.
Oddly enough, Tine can hide in shadows as if he was made for them even though he glows.
Other:
The Snowborn Incident
It started one November morning when I noticed snow on the ground. It was finally snowing! I gleefully scooped up a bleary Tine and ran outside into the frigid fall air. He struggled, of course, but when I set him down in the snow he froze and practically went crazy. I think he liked it. I mean, Tine was leaping and running and climbing the beautiful ice-encased trees with a lot of enthusiasm. He leaped on falling snowflakes, tunneled, and more. I, for my part, just stared at him, amazed. Eventually, of course I got over my gawping and left Tine in the snow with his special little door unlocked in case he wanted to come in. I set out his lunch around noon and normally he knows and comes right over. Today he didn't. When he still didn't show up around seven o'clock I got a bit worried and decided to look for him. After much searching and puzzlement I heard a strange scraping sound from under the porch. I looked down there and low and behold, a tunnel funneled away into the darkness. I wiggled into it on my belly, twisting and turning with the tunnel. It felt like hours that I spent squirming in the darkness. Finally I think I came to the end of the period where I could go through for it plunged straight down into the earth. I peered at it, sighed, started backing out to get a rope. I had only gone a few inches when I felt something brush against my ankle. I froze. Suddenly the scratching noise started again, this time behind me and before I knew it, a warm mass of feathers careened into me from the side. It was Tine. He blinked at me with his bright little eyes, then gave a raucous sort of laugh. Tine turned around in the cramped space and sped away from where he came while I started heading back again, much relieved that my little rune was safe. At dusk he faithfully watched the sun set as he always did, then came back and ate. Later I found out that the tunnel went straight down about ten feet then turned around and popped out. A few feet away Tine had dug another tunnel leading back into this one in a circle. He tricked me into thinking he was caught in the snow and couldn't get out, the trickter. Now I always make sure not to go in his little warrens of tunnels unless it looks collapsed and not to expect Tine back when it's snowing until dusk.
The Winds
Slow the Dawn-Hawk beats its wings
Going where the East Wind sings
Sister, brother, side by side
To defend the skies we ride!
Quick to anger, quick to tease
Raven-uncle glides at ease
Heading North for snow-bound plains
The mark of death he likes his grain!
Dipping, swooping, pirouetting
Swallow-child South is flitting
Once again when wheat shall wave
She'll come back home again all brave!
Then the little butterfly
Butterfly wisest yes oh my!
He'll ride the West Wind to his new hall
Ever feared and fearing of all!
A dark piece for me but here it is:
Silver light, dancing through the shadows
I stop, look, twirling free
The gaze of a hunted is upon me.
I cannot succeed, I'm afraid
A quiet tune makes its way through the wind
I pause, cock my head and listen grave
Something is happening, I must be brave!
I feel I am losing my will.
Rain patterns in my hair black yet fair.
Water runs into my eyes
It seems strange, cold as ice
Yet I welcome it, laughing without glee
The scent of pine needles is rising
Rising, I can tell from the earth deep
Tall, tall trees surround me,
I have need
Need for a bit of reassurance.
Bitimg hard upon my tongue
I taste a salty tang
Blood is filling my maw, a bang
A shock as something punctures me.
I cannot move now, so is the pain
They shot me in the knee
One more time it will be over.
Trusting, trusting now.
I close my eyes.
At last a shot fills the air, this one finally got my lung
I cannot breath, I cannot breath and then all at once I'm dead.
But I am silver sunlight
And I am forest scents
And I an the taste as you bite your tongue
To keep your body breathing.
I am the rain in your hair
And lastly music sweet.
In truth the thing that is wandering
Me and me and me,
Is called Integrity.
