She is my little burning raven.
Userame:
WhiteFire Raven
Rune Bearer:
Azrael
Gender:
Female
Breedable:
Yes please
Personality:
⚜ Bold | Loyal | Secretive | Curious | Intelligent | Mischievous | Playful ⚜
Dont be fooled by this little ones cuteness, yes to those she trusts she is a gentle and loving companion, but she's not afraid to take you on even if your eleven times her size, and usualy she's quite eager to jump into battle, but thanks to her agility and intelligence, she hasnt gotten herself hurt in any fights yet, thankgoodness. I think its because of her encounter with the shadow spirit that she feels she has no reason to fear anything or anyone else. Eh, I'll have to keep a close eye on her or I swear she's going to get herself killed. Like most children of any species, she's very playful and tugs at your hair and clothes when she's bored, and if you let her get too bored, she likes to play a game called 'Steal-Azreal's-stuff-and-hide-with-it-under-the-house-until-she-finds-you-then-run-for-the-hills'. Yeah, she loves that game.
Where will you keep her:
In my character thread, with my other runes, in my signature and she will be all through my gallery, as I have discovered she is so much fun to draw!
Why do you wish to have him/her:
At first sight I knew this was the rune I had been waiting for, I have been secretly stalking this thread since the first ancients were released, and until now I have never found a rune that I could truly connect with. To win her would mean everything to me. She is just plain perfect.
Playing with Fire
*I got permission to have the Ancient death rune in the story. Thanks Verdana!^^
NOTE: While this story has a happy ending and nothing too bad really happens, some younger readers may find it a bit scary.
Serafin
Only a few trees stood scattered around the grassy feilds, and the only life nearby were the bugs and crickets which sounded louder amid the silence of all else. Serafin watched the last of the sun's light fade as the sky changed slowly from a pale orange, to a warm rosy pink, and eventualy dim down to black. Never had she seen such a beatiful sunset, and it was because they were beatiful that she dreaded them. It meant that the sun had left her unnprotected, and at the mercy of the darkness that swallowed the lands as the last of the light dissapeared. A cold wind ruffled her feathers and reminded her how alone she was. 2 days ago her mother had left to hunt and didn't return.
She hated being alone, and even more so at night. Her mother had told her that her kind was supposed to roam only in the night, that she should love the night, but Serafin had no way of protecting herself yet, she had no control of fire and hadn't even learned to fly before her mother had dissappeared. She preyed to the Ancients, to the Ancient of Samhain, to their lord of light, to anyone to send her some kind of hope. She was hungy, cold and parched, but she was too afraid to leave her nest, which was already falling apart provided her little protection from predators and the elements in the first place. She waited in silence for sleep to claim her, so that she wouldnt have to suffer the fear and cold of the night while the sun had yet to return.
Azrael
The occasional fire raven rune zoomed over head as Azrael wandered the streets of the town. Tonight was the Night of Samhain, the one time of the year when the darkness was at its strongest and demons and spirits prowled in the shadows, but it was also the time of year when the Ancient of Samhain, sends his runes to the towns to bring light, warmth and protection from the evil that ruled this night. Kids ran through the streets in bright custumes and people everywhere decorated their homes with candles and pumpkins. A large bonfire sat in the town square with a warm and welcoming light that illuminated most of the village. She couldnt help but laugh as a few kids were scared away by a bone gobbler rune whose home they had disturbed.Chaos, her own rune dragon, was hiding under her bed at home to escape the noise from the celebrations, and Unknown who was rather clingy to her father was sitting there with him, even though she wanted to see what was going on outside, she wouldn't leave without him.
Although everyone seemed happy and the aura of the place so warm and cheery, something didnt feel right. She couldnt shake the feeling and no matter how hard she tried to just enjoy herself, it was constantly clawing at her chest, something told her to get out of there while she could, to just grab her things and run. She continued to supress the feeling and sat down by the bonfire, staring into the warm flames for a while. She wondered how Chaos was doing, He couldnt possibly sleep through all of this noise, could he? She tried to think about her runes, how tired the whole villiage would be tommorow from staying up tonight, anything to distract her from the sense of doom in her gut, until eventualy she just couldnt take it anymore, she took a large stick and held the end in the bonfire. At once it set alight with the enchanting fire, and she went for a wander away from the villiage, she was going to come back of course, she just needed sometime to herself for a while.
Serafin
She was woken by the sound of the rustling bushes. The dim moonlight that made even her home seem haunted refused to show the creature that had made the sound. Her blood ran cold as she noticed the world around her fall into dead silence. The crickets made no noise, the air was still, and even the moon light seemed to fade leaving the lands even darker than before. She could hear her own heart beating ever so rapidly, and then she heard another sickening *Crunch* of the dead grass being stepped on. She cried out as a large gust of wind threw her to the soft black earth, and a cloud covered the already dim moon and blocked out all the light around her. Everywhere she looked was swallowed by darkness, the only left light sources were her warm luminescent feathers, and the cold glowing eyes of the creature that stood before her. Her heart stopped. The monster grinned ominously and tears ran down the feathers on her cheeks. Never before had she felt such dread, so weak, so helpless, completely at the mercy of the demon standing right in front of her.
Azrael
She could feel the dark aura of the spirits that roamed the shadows this night, she was thankful for the torch lit by the flames of a fire raven rune, it was dangerous out here, she wanted to go back, but her instincts tolf her she was on the right path. The moon was not at all bright, if not for the torch she would be walking in pitch black darkness. There was no sound at all, the land around her lifeless. No wind blew, no animals or bugs made a noise, all she could here were her own footsteps and the almost silent crackling of the fire. She could swear that on occasion she saw shadowy forms which veered away frightened by the light, but she passed it off as herself being so tired she was beggining to see things. When she realised how heavy her eyelids were getting she was about to turn around and head back, but the shrill cry of fear from some sort of creature echoed from the distance, and she quickened her pace into a jog, then into a full on sprint. She dared not drop her torch as a dim yellow light came into view.
Serafin
She could already see it in her head, the already tiny flame that represented her life, extinquished, devoured by the shadowy mass of the spirit. She just sat there helpless as it's cold white eyes seemed to stare into her very soul, she cried silently as she waited for it to finish her, just end it quickly, she thought to herself. But the demon didn't strike, it just continued to stare at her, for only a few minutes it stayed likle this, but to her it seemed like forever. It seemed to enjoy her sense of dread, but finaly it rose up and opened its jaws wide to let out a blood curling scream-like roar.
Azrael
She leapt between the wailing shadow spirit and the young rune dragon, and waved the torch in front of the demon. It howled in pain as the light burnt it's black flesh, and it retreated angrily into the night. Once the monster had vanished, she turned towards the baby fire raven."Hey, are you okay?"
Serafin
This new creature seemed strangely familiar, what was it called again, a human? Her mother had told her about them in stories, how they were sometimes as heartless as the demon she had just faced, and how they could also be as friendly and caring as the Ancient of Samhain himself. This girl, she was nothing like that demon, her voice was as warm and welcoming as the fire on the torch she carried. But none of that truly mattered to her right now, whoever this person was, she had just saved her from the shadow spirit, and to go with her seemed to be the only option she really had right now. "That's strange, aren't fire raven runes usualy the one's warding off the spirits? Can't you control fire yet?" Serafin didn't understand her or make any kind of reply, she just let Azrael pick her up and together they made it back to town.
Azrael
By the time they got back Serafin had fallen asleep in Azrael's arm. It looked like half the town was now at the bonfire singing in harmony, Chaos would've hated this for sure. She laughed at the though and went to join them. She tossed her torch into the bonfire now that she no longer needed it, and held the young rune with both arms as Serafin drowsily opened her eyes, woken by the noise. A few hours later they were still there, but had stopped singing ages ago due to their throats hurting. The crowd was only half as big now, but there were still enough people there for it to be classed as crowded. She couldn't wait to tell Chaos about how she'd faught of a shadow spirit, and introduce Serafin to her other two runes, all seemed to be going well, and then she got that feeling in her gut again. In an instant the whole crowd fell silent, they could feel it too. The fire seemed to dim, there was no sign of the fire raven runes, exept for Serafin, and the air turned colder.
Shadowy masses creeped forward on the ground, so many of them, they couldnt possibly count. They rose up and hundreds of their cold white eyes appeared, surrounding everyone. A sense of pure terror filled the air, and people ran into building and lit lanterns, candles and torches to try and ward of the evil things as they came ever closer. The light helped a little, but it wasn't nearly as strong as Fire Raven flames and sme of them broke through their light barriers. Many runes wild and domestic flew to the rooftops in fear, and all Azrael could do was watch in horror.
Serafin
More of those things? This was bad, really, really bad. She watched the other runes as the flew away in fear, she watched how they moved their wings, and did the same. Okay, this can't be too hard. She flapped her wings in the same motion that she saw, she leaped into the air and... didn't fall, she hovered there for a second, she would have been filled with joy had her life and many others not been in danger. She tried to clear her mind of all else, and focused on a firestorm. She put all her heart and soul into the one though of fire. Nothing happened.
She panicked, sure that she wouldn't live to see the sun rise tommorow. She cleared her mind and tried again, she tried to feel the intense heat, she pictured the white flames swirling around her, eating away at the demons. She began to sweat she though so hard about fire. Fire, fire, FIRE. There was a massive flash of oranges, yellows and white.
Azrael
Amid the chaos there was a sudden massive burst of light. The firestorm roared so loudly that the shrieks of pain from the shadow spirits could barely be heard. Then there was just silence. She saw her little fire raven lying motionless on the ground by the ashes that were once the bonfire, only a few dim embers were left amongst the white ash. She held the lifeless feathery creature in her arms and sobbed. A large black dragon appeared next to her, but Azrael made no sign of surprise or shock from his sudden appearance. "Please, she's too young, she can't..." The Ancient of death looked down at Serafin, her feathers didnt glow anymore."Indeed, her time has yet to come. She is not meant to pass this day, I believe fate has other plans for her. Remember mortal, we will meet again, but next time, dont expect me to be so lenient." With that he vanished as quickly as he had appeared. Small beams of light appeared from behind the mountain range in the distance as the sun rose, and the rune dragon slowly opened her eyes and yawned as her feathers beganto once again glow.
