The art below was made by me, on a rubbish oldie pants version of MS Paint.
I had to miss the Olympic Opening Ceremony for it, so I do hope you like it! XD
I'm sorry the colors are all messed up and the position's a little off. It's really late,
and tomorrow I have to catch a plane... I'll end my ranting here.

If you can, please review this form on a laptop. It looks so much cooler than on a desktop. 8D Thanksies!
Also, I know that my form is probably a bit longer than you expected it to be. And I know you really didn't want that, but the more I got into really creating him as a character, the more of him I had to explore and question. I don't ask that you read through my whole form. I just ask that you judge me by my name, gender, and artwork. Thank you for understanding- I just love him so much. <3
Shaka wrote:Shaka brah, dude! Yeah, Shaka's my name.
Pretty cool, eh? I gotta go, the waves are crazy today.
FACT! wrote:The name Shaka comes from a Hawaiin symbol, the shaka sign. In Hawaiin culture,
the shaka symbol means 'Hang Loose' or 'Everything's Cool'. It can also just signal a
friendly hello or be used when diving underwater to say that you're all good.
commie wrote:The morning that I posted this form, I had finished a book. Not a great book, but a book. Not a very long book, but a book. It was my younger relatives' book. It was about a girl living in Hawaii. When another girl comes to stay at her house they are both taken away by their differences, and struggle to find common ground. However, they eventually become best friends and both end up missing the other (yada yada yada). Needless to say, it's not my favorite book ever. I was intrigued throughout the story, however, by the Hawaiin phrases spoken in the book... and the signs used. The two main girls used the shaka sign throughout the book as a greeting or as a symbol of their friendship, which I thought was really neat. I started Google-ing some common terms and really got into the Hawaiin culture, along with the shaka symbol. When I saw this guy I immediately smiled, for I knew I had the perfect name.

PROLOGUE
- you don't have to read this if you don't wanna : -)question wrote:What ever happened to your parents?
'What do you suppose we'll do with this- this thing!?' hissed a young female dragon, her voice fiery, though holding an unremarkable sliver of fear and confusion. In anger she let out a small tongue of red flame, the only source of light in a pitch black sky. In that flickering moment she could be seen pacing, her claws digging into the ground as she trudged back and forth. Her coat, a dark navy blue, wouldn't have been noticeable against the sky had it not been plastered with thick, brown-grey mud. Another young jellybean dragon- this one a male- hesitantly answered her question.
'I- I- I'll take care of it.' he whispered to her, obviously tense and uneasy. The female gave a very distinct nod, as if this was exactly what she had expected him to do, and turned herself around with a small humph. The male began to slowly pace forwards, his muscles rippling through a light, sky blue coat. He leaned forwards, and though it could not be seen in the darkness, a tear raced down his cheek. In his mouth he gingerly clasped on to a small, light blue, jellybean-shaped egg.
Light steps parting grass in his path, he steadily made his way towards a beach. Here a full moon shone against a turquoise ocean, and sand packed down beneath his paws. It was surely a picture-perfect setting, which seemed to only sadden him further. Now he did not try to control his tears. He wished the bundle in his jaws good travels, and with a swing of his head, threw him into the ocean...explanation wrote:Shaka has very immature parents that have no plans of keeping their egg. Shaka's mother hints that she wants his father to get rid of the egg, which he does by plunging it into the sea and letting it drift away.

Shaka wrote:You should know, imma dude. What? You really thought I was a girl?
FACT! wrote:Despite how often he is spotted with the female JBDs, Shaka is definately a male.
commie wrote:I know that others saw this adoptable as a girl, and I can see that. Easily, as a matter of fact! Though in my eyes, Shaka's more masculine side overpowers that. I don't think I could fill out this form if this JBD was female. Plus, I've wanted a male as soon as I got Flour. A guy and a gal, and then I want a male child... but that'll be a while from now. For now I just want to focus on Shaka. <3

CHAPTER ONE
- you don't have to read this if you don't wanna : -)question wrote:So where did you drift off too?
I open my eyes for the first time. A blinding light fills me with a surprising... warmth. I look about; my surroundings are breathtaking. I lay on a remote stretch of beach, between two outcropes of stones that poke out of a crystal sea. The sky ahead of me is a clear blue, left untouched by the cotton-white clouds I can just barely make out over the horizon. A large, glowing sun tops off the scene. I don't know it yet, but this is where I'll be staying for the first three years of my life.
I begin to explore my senses. The sounds of soft birdcall and rolling waves, the feel of snow white sand packed under my stomach. I want to explore more then senses, though. I want to explore the land. Something goes off in my brain- something that tells me to use my feet. I place a paw on the ground in front of me. One by one, all of my paws are on the sand. Then I begin to rise on then. I'm up!
Suddenly I feel pain. Pain in all four of my legs. I need to get down. How do I get down? I never thought about getting down! It's getting worse. With a sickening crunch, I fall to the ground. My leg, it hurts so badly now...explanation wrote:Shaka has just hatched from his egg. He has landed on a beach in Hawaii, completely free of human activity. When he tries to stand he realizes that his bones aren't yet fully developed, and ends up with a broken leg.

Shaka wrote:If ya couldn't tell, my favorite activity is surfing. I love it; I was out rolling on the waves before I was even born. I hate getting my fur wet, though. It's why I'm always so determined to stay on my board.
No fact in the matter, is there?
commie wrote:I saw this guy and felt an immediate connection to the water. Turtles? Didn't see that at first, but yeah, I can understand that. Giraffes? Same thing. But that blue... I know that it's so cliche, and that everyone's said it before me, but I could only ever picture him in the water. And as this form developed and I came up with his name... total sterotyped "surfer dude" was the only thing I could think up. But I'm glad I did think that up, because I think it really fits him well!

you don't have to read this : -)RANDOM FACTS TIME
Shaka sounds just like Finding Nemo's Crush the sea turtle, though if he could choose his own voice, he'd have a heavy Scottish accent.
Shaka's egg was laid on January 3rd, and his hatchdate is currently unknown.
He currently lives in Hawaii (still manages to steal my computer), but you probably figured that out by now.
He'd rather watch the Olympic opening ceremony than the actual sports, though he will (reluctantly) watch some of the more exotic summer sports.
His favorite treats are Pink Lemonade Cupcakes. I ship him a batch each month along with some news-ie life updates. He also enjoys Lemon Pound cake, but only with icing and a sip of tea (he normally hates tea, but claims that it tastes better when blended with the flavors of the pound cake).
American football is the only sport you couldn't pay him to play/watch. He thinks it's rather stupid. I must agree.
