Username: BlackJack
Equid's name: Blaze
Personality: When you first meet Blaze, he seems to be pretty reserved and even a bit shy. There's something pretty mystical about him, and he generally doesn't like to show his feelings to equids he doesn't fully trust. Once you get to know him and he is sure that you can be trusted, though, he will show you his true feelings. Then he is gentle and quite crazy sometimes, and he can be the sweetest boy. Also, he's got a great sense of humor - he loves black humor and sarcasm especially. Blaze is brave at heart, yet he doesn't go and seek trouble purposely. You could say he's got many things in common with his father, Patch, but there's a twist in this story: Blaze doesn't
want to be like Patch. He feels like he was admired because of his famous father only, but not for his own deeds. Even though he loves his father (and of course his mother too!), he's gotten so tired of it, where ever he goes, the girls nearly faint and whisper "OH look, that's PATCH's son!!!
*___*". But none of them ever say "Oh look, that's Blaze!". Blaze knows that he could technically have any girl he wants, as he's got his father's famous "killer smile" too, but he simply doesn't want to have just
any girl. He wants to find a forever mate, a mare that loves him deeply, for who he is, and not for who his father is. He might not look like it, but he is quite romantic, and absolutely loyal, just like his mother. He can be a real daydreamer sometimes. Blaze is very clever and generally likes to be his own master. A special thing about him is his love for thunderstorms, which is also a topic in the story below.
Art or Story: Blaze raised his head as the wind's cold hands reached out for him in the most unforgiving way. He shivered slightly. His coat was thick enough to resist the cold weather, but the wind was very insisting on its deeds, blowing slightly but permanently through the cave. Every now and then, Blaze could hear it make howling noises, like ghosts. He turned his head, his green eyes scanning the darkness, and he could see his parents' silhouettes close to him. Allthough he couldn't see much of them, he was able to tell that Patch was laying on his belly, his tail around Tranquil who was laying next to him, his head resting on her neck, to keep her warm. Blaze smiled, seeing that a stallion like his father, who was mysterious and loved to dominate the girls, could be so soft, caring and gentle if he really liked a mare. Blaze could hear their deep and even breathing, it assured him that they were asleep. Blaze listened into the darkness. He could hear the breath of the other herd members, though he couldn't see them as they were laying farther back in the cave, where the dim moonlight that was shining through the entrance couldn't reach them at all. Blaze let his head sink back down to the ground, slowly. He knew that as long as the dim moonlight was still disrupting the darkness, it was too early. He had to wait and try not to fall asleep, and hope that none of the others would wake up. After a short while, that seemed like hours to him, Blaze finally noticed that the light was starting to fade. A few times it became stronger again, like it was using all its stength to battle its deadly enemy, the darkness. But after a last defiant struggle, the darkness won the fight and the moonlight disappeared completely. Blaze smiled, he knew what it meant. The clouds had come, after all, and he knew that now it was only a matter of minutes. And he was right, just a few moments later, he heard the thunder. It was far away in the distance still, but it was there, and Blaze knew that the storm was on its way. Just like expected.
The storm was overdue, the herd had known that it was coming, that it would arrive soon, they just couldn't tell the ecaxt moment. For the last few days, they had been residing nearby this cave. They slept in it at night, and allthough it was windy inside they knew it would give them shelter during the storm, no matter what. Blaze had been waiting for this storm, anxiously, desperately, yet carefully trying not to show too much of this emotion. He was known to love thunderstorms, the stronger the storm, the better. He had always felt this weird fascination, and he had trouble understanding how someone could be scared of thunderstorms. He adored everything about them. The meaningful quiet before the storm that seemed to make everything freeze in time. The forthcoming thunder, riding on black clouds, like an army of furious riders on black horses, forerunners of an upcoming, unchangable fate, at first nothing more than a mumbling in the distance, but soon coming closer and closer, with angry drums, throwing spears of fire down to earth, and sending floods of rain as if they wanted to drown the mountains. And when the whole universe seemed to be nothing but a house of cards, when mother nature once again proved her power and superiority, Blaze had this very special, hard to describe feeling. It was like the air was filled with electricity, not the same kind of electric powers like the lighting, but more like some sort of magic. And he adored that feeling.
This upcoming thunderstorm was different from all the others, though, it was way more important to Blaze. The most important storm of his life, in fact. It was his opportunity to change something, and maybe his only one. He had prayed for it to come at night, because only then it would be helpful for his plans. A dim lighting disrupted the darkness for a second, and again he heard the thunder, this time it was louder than before. He knew that it was time for him to go. He stood up, very carefully, trying to avoid any loud noises. Slowly and silently, he walked towards the entrance. Right after he had stepepd outside, something made him stop. He turned around, and looked back, to where he knew his parents were sleeping. "I'm sorry, but I have to go. I love you, one day I'll be back.", he whispered, his voice so low that it couldn't wake them up. Another lighting, followed by thunder, Blaze started to run. He ran without looking back, he knew that he didn't have any time to stop, he dashed over the grassy ground. While he was running, the thunder became louder, the number of flashes increased. And then he was finally there, the thunderstorm, right above Blaze. The floodgates of heaven opened, sending flogging rain down to the earth, the harsh storm wind chased through the mountains, blustering thunder seemed to make the world shatter while its echo sounded from the mountain faces, bright flashes chased each other through the skies, seemingly cutting the air into pieces. Heavy raindrops hit Blaze's coat, soaking it within a minute or two. But he wasn't bothered about the rain, he didn't even feel how wet and cold his coat was, actually he was glad about the rain being so heavy. Everything was working out perfectly well.
Blaze had chosen the perfect moment for his escape. He had known that if he waited for too long, until the storm was there, his parents or the other herd members would be woken up by the loud noises of it, before Blaze was gone, making it impossible for him to leave unseen. Leaving too early, before any signs of the upcoming storm were there, would have been dangerous too. There would have been a chance of someone waking up and noticing he was gone. That would have given them the chance to follow him and catch up to him before the storm's arrival. Or, what if there wouldn't have been any storm? They could've just followed his hoof prints once they noticed his absence. No, Blaze had to make sure that on the one hand, the storm was most definitely coming, and that he chose the right moment to go. And as he had started to run just when the storm was on its way, he could be sure that he'd be far away when the others would be woken up by it, and by that time the storm would be too strong to follow him, he knew that they wouldn't dare. And even if so, where would they go? The heavy rain was washing his hoofprints away within seconds. And so he kept running and running, not looking back, he ran into a brand new life...
The next morning, Blaze was woken up by voices. He opened one eye, then the other, needing a while to see clearly. The air was crystal clear. He had no idea for how long he had kept running last night, at a point he had lost any feeling for time and space, he had been terribly exhaused, yet kept running, more like a machine. Even when the thunderstorm had stopped, he hadn't stopped running. Then he had entered a small forest, freezing, wet and tired, and found shelter between some grassy rocks and bushes. And now? He raised his head and looked up, and saw two equids standing right in front of him. "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeello! Hello? Are you....are you okay?", one of them asked. She was a rather short brown mare, with darker brown mane, muzzle, legs and tail tip, with white brindle markings on her belly, neck and upper tail, three white socks, a white blaze and a snip. She seemed somewhat hyper, a bit like a foal, stepping from one foot to the other impatiently, gazing at him with big green eyes in a very curious way. "Yeah....I think so....", Blaze answered, he was still a bit drowsy. He looked at the other equid now, it was a tall cream mare with blue eyes, delicate brown markings on her face, legs and tail tip, and two brown brindle stripes running horizontally over her sides, and two vertical stripes on her tail. She had a very feminine and elegant aura, and she seemed calmer than the other mare. Looking at the brown mare, she wondered "Shall we believe him? Or what do you think, my dear?". The filly-like mare shrugged and kept looking at Blaze. "I am Fayette, and this is Classical. We found you laying randomly here between the bushes and well, you seem somewhat...lost?", she said."Oh, I'm not lost, I've just had a very long and exhausting travel.", Blaze replied, he was more awake now. "Who are you, and where are you from, if you don't mind the questions?", Classical asked. This question was like a salvation for Blaze. Finally, after all, he had met equids who didn't recognize him as the son of Patch as soon as they saw him. No fainting, no squeaking, nothing of that kind, but instead just pure and honest interest in him, the equid he was, in Blaze. And he knew that his travel had been worth it, as much as it had hurt to leave his parents and the herd behind, as much as he loved Tranquil and Patch, he knew that it had been the right decision to escape his father's fame. "My name is Blaze, I've come from far away...", he answered before standing up and following the two mares curiously to explore the forest.
Why do you want this equid?: He's just jaw drop gorgeous! I love his design, how he is a perfect mix of both Patch and Tranquil. When you said you were making a foal of those two I was excited, Patch is one of my fave WMEs and Tranquil is so stunning too. So I decided to stalk the adoption page, and when I saw him I was a bit surprized. His design looked differnt than I had expected, I'm not really sure what exactly I had expected to see. But I wasn't disappointed at all, he's just so stunning! I love the shade of brown that his base color is, and the fact that it's darker on the neck, back and upper tail and becoming lighter towards the belly, legs and towards the tail tip. It gives the design so much more depth than an invariant base color. Another thing I love about him is his brindle, it's probably one of my fave features. The light brown/cream color fits so nicely with his darker brown coat, and it reminds me of Tranquil due to its color. The way it is shaped reminds me a lot of lighting (On a sidenote, the fact that his markings remind me of lighting and that my story is about a thunderstorm is pretty much coincidence. Only after I had thought of my concept for the story, I noticed that his brindling actually fits the story.

). I also adore that his brinfling is "filled" with black in some parts, as I'm a fan of that kind of brindle, yet it's not overloaded as there's both normal and filled brindle. And I like how his brindling fades on his legs and tail, and that the markings on his tail are black, so a different color, making him look more colorful. Colorful is a good point - I adore his mane! Usually, where the brindle hits the mane, it is either the same color like on the coat, or a different color, that applies for all the brindle markings though. But on Blaze's coat, almost every brindle marking affects the mane color in a different way. One just has two white stripes where the cream brindle hits the mane, for the next one there's a stripe of the same color like the brindle, then the next one leaves a white stripe in the mane, the following one two cream stripes, then on his tail just one white stripe, followed by cream stripes. It makes his design look so colorful and many-sided, I love it! And it's not only his mane that I like, I also like the way his tail tip is colored. I must admit that I'm not a big fan of the designs where the tai tip has brindle stripes on it (its just personal preferance, not meant rude or anything^^), and thus for I like it how his tail is colored, that it has several colors but isn't brindle'd. It just looks...more natural to me, somehow, and I like natural designs. Also, his white markings make the whole design look much lighter, and more unique, especially the one on his head and neck. I adore how on his face it looks still a bit like a skull, just that a part of it above the eyes seems to be missing, together with those adorable black spots on his muzzle it reminds me of Patch and is still completely different and unique, and I love that brown "dot" on his neck, which reminds me of a bubble. And one thing that I utterly adore are his shiny green eyes, they make the whole concept of his design perfect.
After the first excitement I was having trouble finding the right name for him, and after a while I wasn't so sure anymore if I should really apply or not. But after all I decided I love and want him enough to try for him, the muse came to me and I also found a name that I like, and now that my entry is finished I must say I love him more than I did in the beginning. I just got to know him much better during the development of the story, and it was incredibly fun to write! What I'd like to add is that in the story he's 3.5 years old, I just wanted to point it out so that nobody imagines a young foal escaping or something, he's almost mature. ^^
