հìʂէօɾվ: Whisper was born with these frightening marks so, naturally, people feared her. She grew to be a very loving JBD at the age of 6 but nobody understood her. By her preteens, 10-12, she was known, and feared, by all. She lived her life in solitude, hidden from the world.

By her mid-teens, she had grown to accept the fact that she wouldn't be loved unless someone saw past her markings to see her heart. She was only eight-teen when she was found, at night, by a very cruel man. He gave her spot away and she had to, as some would say, abandon ship. She's been running ever since.

Šŧørγ My Story? You want to hear my story? Well. It all start one late, cold, snowy night in December...

Whisper
Opened her red eyes as sge was nudged and bright moonlight shone into them."Wha-?" She managed to say before she noticed her mother."Come on Whisper. We have to go." Her mother, Moon, said fanticlly."Why?" She asked."No time to explain." She was then pushed softly by her mothers nose. They were soon running through the forest. A loud bang startled her but she kept running. Minutes, that felt like hours, later she stopped but her mother was nowhere in sight."M-mother?" She said into the bitter night. She then realized what had happened and why her mother wasn't with her. She was the spitting image of her mother, markings and all.

She had been walking for days. She hadn't eaten or slept since two days ago and didn't dare stop long enough for what happened to her mother, happen to her. Plus. She couldn't find any none spoiled food. She looked around, sniffed and sighed. She fell onto the ground, tired. She heard a crack and, of course, it was an enemy. She jumped to her feet and started running, barely dodging a bullet. This will never end. I will never stop running. She thought. Never. Fades to white

{Sorry my story sook so long.}

Holy...

Is...

Is this one still up for grabs? I've wanted a JBD for ages, but either never saw one I liked that was up for adoption, or they all had mandatory art requirements that I can never fulfill (Oekaki will not work for me, and I just plain can't draw that well). If s/he/it is still up for adoption, I'd love to try out :)

ETA: Well... here goes! I'd also like to say that I'm very sorry that the story didn't quite match up to what you had written (despite reading it a few times to try and make sure I had it all down), but hopefully it won't count against me too much? ^^' I just got really into it...

Username:
Commander Shepard

Name:
Paine.

There's a reason for this. No, it's not because it's a sort of... 'edgy' name, or because it's my most common nickname. Rather, it's because of where that nickname came from. Long story short-- Final Fantasy X-2 this dragon reminds me of character I loved, led to roleplaying (which in turn led to me being called Paine), led to me learning I adored writing, which has been a major part of my life ever since :) (... I'm aware that no one probably cares about the name origin there, but I wanted to share it. For... some reason xD)

Nickname:
Ah... I'm not sure on this yet. Paine's kind of hard to turn into a nickname, and I don't think any of her new friends would really feel like calling her anything else. Well, Nyarlathotep might call her 'Pest' or 'Why-Have-I-Not-Erased-You-From-Existance', since she's significantly fuzzier than any of the other dragons around, and would prooobably shed a lot. And maybe occasionally try licking him to see if he tastes like cherry jelly.

Gender:
Female

Age:
Adult

Why You Want Her:
First of all, the same reason I believe everyone wants her- DAT DESIGN. It's subdued but not... depressing/overly dark, just that lovely right mix of intimidating but approachable. Plus, I just have a thing for red-eyed things. I really don't know why, but red eyes are a very quick way to make me love something xD And, as mentioned above, the color design and all just reminds me of my all-time favorite Final Fantasy character, Paine. But we were just over that, so on to the other reasons!

As mentioned above, this would also be my first Jellybean Dragon. I love these little creatures, they're all... fluffy and adorable and sweet. Like draconic Pinkie Pies :D Unfortunately, I have never really even been able to try out for one. Either it's not a design I'd want, I couldn't think of a character for it, it was already taken, or-- as most cases were-- the form required art. I'm not an artist, and for whatever reason, my computer doesn't like Java, meaning Oekaki is a complete no-go. I know that I could request art, but that just feels a bit like cheating, you know? If I entered art, I'd want it to be something I made myself. I can't begin to say how thrilled I am to find one that focuses more on writing, especially considering the inspiration and meaning behind her name. It's just... kind of perfect, you know?

Third: her story/introduction there. Partly because it just gave me the breakthrough I've been waiting for on a different subject. I happen to own a number of Rune dragons, and for a while now, I've been wanting to have some kind of... coherent story with all of them, which has proven a bit difficult. The human character (I hesitate to call her a self-insert/persona/anything like that, since she was developed to just be a character first), you see, is soul-bound to the Ancient of Chaos for... pretty much all eternity. In between what he usually has her do, she will take charge and abuse his ability to pop in and out of all space, time and universes for fun and profit adventures with her Runes. And thanks to this girl, I finally have an idea for one story involving that and how the group sees themselves-- they're nothing but a bunch of misfits, but they're proud of it. Wouldn't it be the perfect place for a little creature who's been so alone and afraid for so long?

Personality:
I tried getting this through in her history/story as much as possible, but just in case, here's a quick reference.

Like many darker-furred Jellybean dragons, Paine is a bit less social than normal. She doesn't dislike socializing, she just gets a bit lost in large groups. Either she just hangs back and stays quiet, or she overcompensates and becomes rather loud and difficult to be around. Get her in a smaller group, or allow her to take things at her own pace, and she can become much more animated, though she does require her space after a while. If she's forced into too much excitement, she sort of shuts down for a couple of days, hiding out on her own somewhere and just trying to rest, too much in a short amount of time will leave her physically and emotionally drained.

Loyalty is extremely important to her, as is honesty. There is very little that can hurt her more than being (or feeling) abandoned or being lied to/falsely accused of something she hasn't done. This is likely because of how few close friends she's had-- while she may make many acquaintances, it takes a long time before she's comfortable calling someone a 'friend'. To have that trust and devotion broken is just... almost unthinkable, to her. If that sort of thing does happen, Paine isn't exactly good at defending herself. The outrage is simply too great, and her mind just sort of blanks for a while trying to process it all. It's worse if the accusation/betrayal is by someone with a rather forceful personality, she just sort of shrinks away and tries to run away as soon as possible.

She's not the type to get especially... angry. For the most part, she simply accepts things as they are and tries to deal with or improve whatever she can. And even when she does get fed up enough to really be angry, the most she'll do is just shout... which can be intimidating, this little Jelly has quite a voice! More often than not though, once she's blown off some steam, she'll feel immediately remorseful, and apologize profusely in case she's upset anyone. She's also not one to speak up a whole lot, even if something is upsetting her-- better to just shut up and deal than risk confrontation, in her mind.

Paine very much enjoys reading, as it helped keep her occupied when she was younger. She prefers fictional works, though she'll take anything interesting. Horror fiction is her favorite, especially if it involves some kind of role reversal-- the monster or scary types being the good guys, for example. She has, on more than one occasion, burned up a book because it was so stereotypical in how 'dark = EVIL' and never even tried to make the bad guys real characters, but she's gotten better at avoiding those kinds of books. She's also developed a love for music of all sorts, and actively seeks it out whenever possible.

History:
"I... I had a good life, all things considered. I was the first egg my parents produced, you see, just after they agreed to become mates. They never lied to me or anything, they told me that they were a bit... shocked, when they saw a gray egg in the nest. The rest of the Jam was curious about it too, but at the time, no one made a big deal of it. My dad had purple in him and my mom was mostly white, so they said that it was really just an odd lavender color, that I'd be bright and cheerful and normal.

"Funny thing? They decided to call me 'Paine' before I was even hatched! It was my dad's idea, I was always told, he saw the name once and thought it was the greatest thing ever. He insisted that he would take sole responsibility for carrying me while I was a child if I could be named Paine. I think mom only agreed because she couldn't come up with a name herself, so it was 'Paine' or 'hey you'. Dad... sometimes I wonder if he ever regretted my name. It was just a bit too... on the nose, you know? The skeletal markings, the dark color, the red eyes and a frightening name, no wonder the others didn't like me. Sure, they tried to be polite, and things weren't too terrible at first. I tried to be friendly, I tried to join in all the games, but I never really could. I played a bit too rough, I got a bit too into things. I always apologized and tried to patch things up, I tried to be gentler next time; but after a while, I just gave up entirely. They moved on to other games, made friends, had fun, and I just sat and watched from the sidelines. Or stayed in the nest and read.

"My parents were great, through it all. They kept others from teasing me too much, they did everything they could to keep me happy. They scavenged books and newspapers whenever our Jam was near human towns, they taught me how to find the best fruits and how to build a cozy nest, they taught me the little they knew about the stars and told me all sorts of stories they'd heard over their lives. I was happy then, so happy. See, that's something I don't think the rest of the Jam got (not that I can blame them now, knowing the scarcity of Jellies like myself). I could be happy, and I often was happy! I just liked roughhousing a bit too much and didn't deal well with big groups.

"By the time I was a teenager, I'd settled into a rather... comfortable niche. I wasn't exactly well-liked, but I certainly wasn't hated. I kept to myself and others kept to themselves. I was content, and so were they. I didn't really busy myself looking for a boyfriend, though I did get on better with the young males than anyone else in the group. I simply ate and hunted, and even earned some slight respect from the rest of my Jam doing that! Hunting was fun, after all, especially when we were around human settlements. I almost always brought back the most sweets, and I always let others take them before having any myself. Sure, this usually meant that I would wind up with nothing, but it made the others happy. That was all the sweetness I needed.

---------------

"My Jam tolerated me.
"I soon learned that this wasn't the case everywhere.

"I had just reached adulthood when... it happened. There was a terrible storm one night. I had been out looking for food when it it, out around a human town. I remember that I was looking for marshmallows-- mom and dad had finally had another hatchling, and marshmallows were her favorite. She actually liked me, too, so that was an incentive to keep getting her favorite treats. Ah... please, forgive that little segue, I just... I miss my family, you know? My family, my sister, even the Jam! They might not have all loved me, but they didn't outright hate me!

"I was in a human town. I was soaked to the bone, feeling heavier than stone, freezing, and absolutely famished, and I was lost. I found a half-open door an darted in, thankful for a moment to be out of the rain and thunder. It was... warm in there especially where I was sitting. Too... warm. And... sticky. The rain had washed away the smell at first, but now that I was inside, I caught it. It was... sickening, horrible, the smell no Jelly wanted to be around, it was blood. The second I realized this, I shrieked and jumped up, terrified and wanting to get out and wash the stink off of my fur, but before I could so much as get to my paws, I heard a sound not too far away. I saw a young Jellybean dragon, barely a teenager, lying on the floor and bleeding from a wound on his neck, just above a collar that marked him as a housepet. Now, I wasn't the most sociable of dragons, but I couldn't ignore another in pain! I tried to talk to him, but he said nothing, he could only whimper and growl. I tried examining the wound a bit more, and nearly became sick when the blood got on my snout. It was clear that, while severely injured, the dragon would survive... for a little while.

"I started calling out, using what little human language I know mixed with a number of growls and shill yelps to try and get attention. I was... I was shortsighted, I didn't think until I saw the expression of the man who appeared on the stairs.

" "Monster!" he cried, grabbing a picture frame and throwing it at me. I ducked my head enough so it knocked against my new horns rather than hitting me square on the skull, and I turned and ran. The man followed, shouting and calling me all sorts of vulgar things and causing a horrible commotion. Others, some with dogs, some with other Jellybean dragons, started coming out to see what the fuss was about, then joining in the chase. I ran as fast as my tired legs could go, never even looking back. I could hear how close they were and I was terrified. My legs ached, my heart was racing wildly, and I could barely breathe. One trip, one misstep and I would die for sure, and for what? Because I had unusual marks? Because I had failed to think through, I just reacted?

"The town street ended abruptly at a forest, and that was my undoing. I was cold, I was scared, I was hungry and exhausted. The first patch of uneven ground was enough to send me crashing to the forest floor."

Favourite Food:
Without a doubt, jelly babies. You'll see where this comes from later ;)

Story:

The sound of the mob grew closer and closer. The ashen Jellybean Dragon barely moved, she had accepted her fate. After all, what would she have to go home to? Yes, her parents and sister were wonderful, more than she could ever say, but the rest of the Jam only tolerated her presence. Better to let it end now than face a long, lonely life watching others find love and joy, while she watched from the sidelines. She simply laid there on the ground, listening as the crowd grew closer, the rain grew louder, the sky darker...

So much darker. The clouds seemed pitch black now, tinged with... red? Sounds began to fade until there was absolutely nothing. The dragon slowly raised her head, red eyes wide and her ears pricked up, alert for the faintest sound or movement. It looked as if she were... floating? It felt somewhat like her body was on a solid surface, but there was no need to really push herself up into a standing position again. She felt weightless, she-- she felt nothing, really. There was nothing to see. Nothing to hear. Nothing to feel or smell, and she would guess that there was nothing to taste, either. Her ears flattened against her head as a pang of fear coursed through her body. Had the humans somehow caught up to her? Had they killed her, was this death?! A mere void?

Then, there was light.

Paine jerked her head around, catching the faintest shimmer of red in the corner of her eye. It looked to be like nothing more than a speck, floating like herself in this... state, and she slowly began to move towards it. There was nothing solid below her paws, but she still somehow moved forward, almost like walking in water just deep enough that one's feet barely touched the bottom. The closer she came to the speck, the larger it became, until a second later it multiplied! There were hundreds of these red specks, like dull stars filling the void, surrounding her top, bottom and side-to-side. The Jellybean dragon gave a whimper of fear and disorientation, closing her eyes and trying to simply will it all away.

When she opened her eyes, she did not see the stars.
She was too distracted from the face in front of her own. It seemed almost draconic, but without a scrap of fur to be seen. It had no scent, and seemed to flicker every few seconds, just long enough that she could notice it. A low, rumbling sound filled the space, and the creature's glowing yellow eyes narrowed to gleaming slits.

"And who," it said in a voice that sounded like a thousand others speaking at one time, "are you?"

Before Paine could answer, the creature before her gave an outraged roar, turning its great head to the side. Paine followed its gaze, her own eyes widening in surprise when she saw the figure-- figures, actually-- standing beside him. Four or five fluffy, feathered creatures that seemed nearly draconic, and a tall human woman with a scarred face and odd clothing consisting of a sleeveless tan shirt (and a strange, jagged... tattoo? on her left arm), jeans, heavy boots and... goggles, staring at her with a smile on her broken lips.

"So. We finally got to you on time," she said, kneeling in front of Paine.

"F..." Paine stammered, trying to mimic the word, but shook her head in frustration. For all her smarts, she seemed to lack the skill with languages most others of her kind had.

"Aaah. Right. Can't speak, can ya?" the woman said, looking up at the large red dragon. "Ny, think you can help?"

The red dragon growled again, but after a moment, wrapped its long tail around Paine's neck. The Jellybean dragon screeched in protest, immediately attempting to claw at the strange beast, but a slight squeeze caused her to cease immediately. The tail snaked away and the red dragon shook its head, grumbling slightly.

"There. Are you happy? You have just drastically altered the course of an entire universe to give this... beast the gift of speech."

"Yes, quite happy," the woman said, flashing the dragon a smile before turning back to Paine. "So, what are you, anyway? You look sort of like some of the canids I've seen..."

"Can-- I'm not a dog!" Paine barked, her fur bristling with indignation. "I'm a dragon!"

"You certainly sound like one," the red dragon quipped, finishing his sentence with a loud snort. Paine was about to reply with some biting remark, but her annoyed expression turned into one of slack-jawed shock when the dragon flickered again, and in his place, there stood a human male with dark hair and vibrant yellow eyes.

"I... I am not a dog," the Jellybean said again, shaking her head. "Where am I? W... where are we, who are you people?!" she stammered, finally realizing just how incredibly bizarre the situation was.

"Ah, yes. Right," the woman said, crossing her arms. "My name's Gabriella. This brute--" she paused, indicating the dragon-turned-man, "-- is Nyarlathotep, Ancient Rune of Chaos and... well, not that you'd care really, we've already confirmed Runes don't exist in this universe. Except for us, of course, and... you... aren't... getting any of this, are you?" she asked, apparently catching Paine's thoroughly confused expression. "Alright. Long story short, he's the embodiment of all chaos and randomness in the... universe, multiverse, whatever. Existence, there, let's go with that. I summoned him and now we kind of work for each other, and we've just been dropping into random places doing research, and... well, we kind of screwed things up for you."

At those last few words, the woman's voice dropped and she began to rub the back of her neck; was she nervous about something? "W... what do you mean?" Paine asked, tilting her head slightly to the side.

"This," the woman sighed, picking up one of the little dragon-fluffballs at her feet and holding it up. It was almost jet black, with only the faintest hints of red on the tips of its feathered wings and long ears. The creature hissed, opening its mouth wide to reveal a set of very large, very long, and very bloodstained fangs. "I didn't know he'd gotten loose in the town..."

Paine's eyes went wide as she pieced things together. This creature had been the one to attack the pet Jellybean. This was the creature responsible for the blood, for the attempt on her life! She couldn't even bring herself to speak; the gray dragon simply sat there, quivering with anger and her fur bristling once again with rage.

"We couldn't just leave. Nyarlathotep here, he can see the future-- well, sort of-- and anyway, he saw that if we just left, you... well. You wouldn't make it," the human continued.

"So what have you done?!" Paine shouted, spitting a tiny puff of flame as she did so. "Where have you brought me, and why? Answer me!" Twenty one years of being outcast and she had just started to find a place; twenty one years and she had to suffer for the crimes of something not even from this world?

"We're... nowhere. Sort of a... okay, honestly, I don't get it either. We just exist sort of outside of space and time right now. And we brought you here to apologize. We can't exactly go back and change what happened, since we don't know when or where it exactly happened, but we could do this. Keep you safe for a moment and go put you back somewhere safe," the woman said softly.

"Safe," Paine huffed. "I suppose loneliness is better than death. Or perhaps not. I haven't quiet decided yet," she said bitterly.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm not exactly well-liked, even by my own kind," Paine said, closing her eyes and shaking her head. "There are... rumors, about Jellybean dragons with my sort of appearance."

"Jellybea-- you know, perhaps we should remain here, how could any..." the man-dragon (now returned to dragon form) was cut short with a sharp slap to the shoulder from the human woman.

"Sorry. Anyway, about the stories?" the woman said in a polite tone.

"Most are bright-furred. As a species, we are... sociable. Friendly, close. But darker-furred ones, like myself, we tend to be more withdrawn," Paine said, shooting a cold glare at the larger dragon. "No one is entirely sure why, but that's how it is. I had enough trouble fitting in with the group I was born to, and now..." she trailed off, giving a short, bitter laugh. "Even if you return me to my group, who would believe me? They barely tolerate me as it is, I doubt even my own parents could defend me if I returned bloodied and claiming some mutant rat beast attacked."

The fanged dragon hissed again, but was restrained by the largest of the group, a blue and red dragon nearly Paine's own height. Paine hissed back at the smaller dragon, emitting another puff of flame and giving a smug smile as the creature recoiled with fear. So it didn't like fire, did it?

"I... guess you have a point there," the woman said with a soft sigh. "I... miss, I really am sorry," she said, looking at Paine with a gentle gaze. "And... well. I know it... might not be much, but... you say you don't have much standing back where you're from?"

Paine shook her head, keeping her eyes focused on the dragons. There were two tiny ones-- one magenta, with yellow-black eyes, and another... another that took her breath away. A black dragon with large, glowing red eyes and skeletal features. Part of its tail was simply exposed bone, and the wings were nothing but bone held together with small webs of skin.

"Well. You seem smart, I'm pretty sure you've pieced together that none of us here are quite... normal," the woman said. Paine turned her head to face her again, and found the woman smiling slightly.

"I was starting to have suspicions," Paine replied in a dry voice.

"Yeah. And, I mean, if you're the same... we've always got room for more."

"Y... wait. W-what?" Paine asked, her eyes going wide.

"Well, yeah. I mean, it's the least I can do!" the woman said. "I... ugh. I'm sorry, I don't know quite how to say this, but... after what happened, I want to do something to help you. Yeah, we're not really a normal group, for god's sake I'm... somewhat immortal, but we all get along well enough, anyway. And you'd be more than welcome. We're all a bunch of misfits, so we've got to stick together, right?"

Paine looked away, sweeping her long tail back and forth, turning the idea over in her mind. She didn't have much life to return to. But here, staying with this group... she had only just met them, and they had been responsible for the entire mess in the first place! On the other paw, they-- or the woman, at least, she seemed to be their leader-- were trying to make amends. None of them seemed even remotely frightened by her appearance and personality. It was a refreshing turn.

"How long can we remain here?" Paine finally asked.

"Until every living universe ends, and a new one is born. Eternity, in only a moment," the red dragon- Nyarlathotep?- said with a faint chuckle.

"Then... I ask that I may stay here. To think."
----------------------------

So she had decided. After endless time (or only a few moments?) thinking, weighing her options, Paine had made her choice.

"I would like to remain with you," she said, striding up to the woman. "There is no life for me to return to, but here... at the very least, none of you seem to fear me. That would be an improvement."

"INo, none of us are afraid. Well, except for Thane, but he better be," she said, smiling and kneeling down in front of Paine. Before the Jellybean dragon could react, the woman had wrapped her in a tight hug. The first real contact Paine had experienced since she was still an infant. For a moment, she remained still, unsure of how to react. But after a moment, she leaned her head against the woman's shoulder, smiling and nuzzling her neck, careful to avoid accidentally jabbing her with her horns. This act alone made her choice worthwhile. A complete stranger, someone from beyond who-knew-where, concerned for her well-being and actually trying to provide comfort.

"I... I do have... one request though," Paine finally said, once the woman had moved away.

"Go for it."

"M... I will never... be able to return to my Jam, but... I would at least like to say goodbye to my family."

"Of course. After we get you cleaned up though."

"... one more thing?" Paine asked, looking up at Nyarlathotep this time. "If you can see into the future, can you see what happened to the dragon that was attacked?"

Nyarlathotep gave her a cold look, turning his head and waving his tail, summoning a small sphere. When Paine looked into it, she saw the injured dragon running about, a bandage on his neck but seeming otherwise completely fine. The gray Jellybean gave a soft sigh, closing her eyes and feeling incredibly relieved at that. It was enough to be falsely accused of a crime, she would have been horrified if the poor dragon had died anyway.

"Shall we return now?" Nyarlathotep asked, breaking Paine out of her thoughts.

"Yes. Please."
--------

"So I went back to my family. I explained what had happened, and that I would be leaving... probably for a very long time. But Gabriella had assured me that I could come and visit, and due to the nature of our... travels, those visits might only be a day apart to my family. Between these visits, I spend my days in the company of the lord of all Chaos and his avatar, and her dragons-- the vampire, the moral compass, the dreamcatcher, the banshee and the infant who can control dark matter. Together, we have seen countless places and times. I have made friends, found places where my markings would be a symbol of luck and beauty, not to mention all the sweets! I thought cherry jam was delicious, you wouldn't believe the wonders I've gotten to taste! Especially these little chewy... I believe they were called 'jelly babies', a man in a bowtie gave me a few once and I've adored them since.

"I had always wanted a family. A home, perhaps with a child or two to play with. Instead, I find myself part of a truly bizarre, one-of-a-kind band that finds beauty even in the most horrible chaos, who can see past any and all appearances to the hearts below, and take as much pride and joy as possible in their bizarre lifestyles.

"I have found my home. And I could not be happier."

that point in the intro*

Favourite Food: Ripe, vivid berries; prefferably strawberries

Story: WIP *Preferably continue off from where
I left off in the intro, but if you prefer to vaguely

something else, thats fine too.*

Whoo. Finally. Form is done, I hope it's to your liking :) I'm sorry it's not especially fancy or anything-- I'm not good at that sort of thing, and frankly, writing that history/story was difficult enough xD

Why You Want Her: I love her design and I have yet to have a JBD.She seem like a JBD who has a tomboy look and who smart and good at everything. she tough on the outside but on the inside she soft but she doesn't like to show it in fear....Human would find her and sale like she saw before.

History:
"Well you see, I was a normal JBD until my village was raided by Some mean humans. They stole Food,Items,Treasure, and Other Jellybean dragons and even Eggs. They even stole my sister who was still A egg. They would grab JBDs and throw them in small, nasty cages. And at a young age I was scared it would happen again. We couln't fight back. After the scums left the village was no more. Everything
was burned to the ground. We had nothing left. So we fled, far,far away.Me and my pack found another place to live but then the returned again......"

Favourite Food: Meat!!!!!!

Story:
"They had returned! The humans! but these were nice humans. They gave us food and homes. They told us that if we came with them they could find us homes. At first we didn't trust them but we gave in.After a few days of walking we found it a place fill with Happy, Full, Clean JBD.I even found my sister who was still a egg....After a few days they gave me a tag that said "JBD #172"
So that brings us up to speed

Sorry it's so short compared to the rest ^_^;
