~Willow~
Image
Name:
Willow, but he has so many nicknames you wouldn't believe. He gets called Strawberry, for his favorite food, and Mossy because it's what one of his owners (Jay) wanted to name him in the first place, and Doodle and Munchkin and Sugar just because they sound cute. Most of the time he just gets called Willow, luckily. ;) The name has no special meaning, as I think most names don't--they just fit the animal they go with, just like Willow fits both the coloring and the personality of this very special little boy.
Stats:
Willow is a great-dane sized Jellybean Dragon (yup, already. He's going to be truly giant when he grow up). He is a boy, with pink-jade-and-green markings, 110lbs, age 14 in human years. Willow is also completely mute.. People hypothesize he was in an accident as a very young dragon, but it should be noted that his personality does not seem affected.
Personality:
Willow is sugar sweet and unusually shy for a Jellybean Dragon. He loves people, and follows them around, liking nothing better than making them happy. If you've made friends with Willow, you will know and love him for the rest of his life. He can be a bit goofy, a lot clumsy, and a plenty over-sensitive, but those are small prices to pay for the loyal friend you know you have in Willow.
So you can get to know his character a little more in depth, here are some revealing personality quizzes Willow took.
The Color Quiz: http://www.colorquiz.com/quiz.php
You are searching for a close bond with others who are accepting and kind. You also feel used, overwhelmed, and exhausted at the demands placed on you. Depression and loneliness are your problems, and all you're really looking for is some true love.
PersonalDna: http://www.personaldna.com/
You are a considerate thinker! You like to plan ahead, you are not overly confident, and you tend to keep emotions to yourself. Empathy and trust in others are some of your dominant qualities, although you are not a particularly dominant person. Your close friends know you as a good listener.
Four Color Personality Test: http://www.truecolorstest.com/True_Colors_Test.shtml
Your strength is your people skills. Others are attracted to you because of your warm, kind, and compassionate nature. You enjoy teaching, inspiring, and helping others solve their problems.
Jung Typology Test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes1.htm
You are an ISFJ! This stands for introverted, sensing, feeling, judging, and it means you are quiet, diligent, and care deeply about your friends and family. You are a Protector by nature, undervalued by society, and believing in tradition and culture. Mother Teresa was an ISFJ!

Why I Want Willow and What I Would Do With Him:
I want Willow because I love him! Really, Bonus, would I write such a long story and spend so long perfecting that one eye I drew if I didn't really, REALLY want this boy? You are a master at shading, which gives this dragon an air of subtlety and elegance that, along with the soft hues, make Willow stand apart. His markings and spirit called to me; what else can I say? Oh wait--I know. I can tell you about all the threads and RP's I'll put him in, and how much art I'll make and order based around his beautiful markings. I can say he will have a sacred place in everywhere my characters gather, including my trade rules. I can tell you I love him, Bonus, and it would be somewhere beyond true.

Story:
Sorry this is so long! I actually took away about a fourth of it to get it the size it is. While I would appreciate it if you read all of this, if you're really pressed for time you can start with the paragraph that goes 'Megan Collins wanted a pet...' Thanks!

Ali and Jay Maine had a lot of good things in their lives. They were married and truly in love with each other, both had high-paying jobs, and they got to show high-quality JellyBean Dragons as a hobby. Fancy, Lilo, and Tanya (the dragons) were as much a part of their lives as anything else, and that was the problem. What kind of family relies on pets to give love and solace when there are such wonderful things as people around? Jay especially wanted a daughter, a human daughter, and for reasons unspecified that wasn't going to be happening anytime soon.
Ali was not one to let little things like life circumstances stand in the way of getting her or her husband what they wanted. No biological daughter? No problem. They could adopt. And before a befuddled Jay knew what was happening, his wife was on a mission. There was a nice agency in Europe that she had heard of from a coworker; that would do. They had a website, and approximately a hundred available children at a time, a teenage girl would be just perfect because they were the hardest to adopt out (except teenage boys, but Ali didn't want a son). Maybe the girl could be fifteen or sixteen? That would be just perfect, wouldn't it?
Ali's train of thought, as ever, didn't give Jay the chance to catch up. He just let Al do what Al had to do, and left it at that. There was no way an actual child would come out of the madness; even his wife wouldn't go that far. Jay was quite certain in his little conviction--until Ali called him over to the computer with a smile he had never seen before on her face.
Jay slid into the desk chair and looked at the cheerful orange-and-white screen. The profile picture of the girl was beautiful, with wavy blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. She looked so confident, so bubbly and happy it was almost mesmerizing. Jay looked down to read about her.
Megan Collins is a bright 14-year-old girl with a hard past. Her mother was arrested for drugs, and apparently forced her daughter to take part in beauty pageants to satisfy her cocaine-induced need to 'be the best.' Meg has not escaped from this ordeal unscathed, and while we are sure the sparkling child she used to be still exists, we have yet to uncover it. If you can bring her back, you will have truly made the world a better place--but take sincere caution. This child is for experienced parents only, and consideration is needed before contemplating adding her to your family.
Jay leaned over further, and clicked on the video box beneath the text. It was of Megan in one of those pageants the form had talked about, and she was absolutely beautiful. There was a silky pastel pink dress, with a thick silver band just above the waist and thin matching silver heels. A rose had been placed in her lucious blonde hair, and when she began to talk it seemed like the words were bubbling out of her mouth and floating away on a breeze. She was charismatic, that was for sure, and Jay had fallen under her spell 100%. He turned to Ali with sparkling eyes.
"Let's go fill out a form."
It was hard to get past the adoption process, or at least it should have been. But Ali had never been stopped by things as trivial as paper, and she blew threw the hundreds of pages without giving Jay a change to say yay or nay. He was used to his wife, but even he had never seen her get quite this intense before. Jay had to admit, however, that it worked; the papers were in and Megan Collins was about to become Megan Maine.
Their daughter was coming by plane, and the airport carpets were maroon. Ali traced a pattern into them with her toe, trying to keep her breath as steady as the swirling lines. God. This was going to be the biggest thing she had ever done--what if she was wrong? What if Megan absolutely hated them, and the people on the website were right to say that she shouldn't be adopted out by people who hadn't been parents before? Ali had to trust in herself...she could do this. Maybe. There was at least a 25% chance.
They could see the plane landing from the lobby, and Ali's breath caught. A lady with platinum blonde hair stepped out and herded the mobs into the lobby...where was Megan? Where was Ali's (her breath caught again) daughter? Finally, after a short millennium of waiting, a middle-aged lady with big brown eyes stepped over to them and held out her hand.
"Ali Maine?"
"Um...yes! That's me!" Ali stuttered, something she couldn't remember doing since about third grade. Luckily the lady just smiled.
"This is Megan. Megs, meet your new parents."
Ali clutched Jay's hand, a fact, which made him look over at her with appreciative surprise. Ali didn't do affectionate, she didn't do sweet, and she most definitely didn't do nervous. Just the fact that she was holding on to him made him feel like protecting her. But then a more fascinating subject even than his wife stepped out: there was his new daughter.
Megan Collins had a nose piercing, blue-black shaggy hair, and an intense look on her face. She had on a slightly revealing hot-pink t-shirt and gray skinny jeans cut off a little below the knee, with more hot pink on the knee socks that rose up to greet them. She didn't look happy and she didn't look nice. It occurred to Ali for the first time that Megan Collins might be a little more than she bargained for.
The girl extended a limp arm, looking bored.
"Hi."
That was it? That was all this girl who could not possibly be Megan had to say? What about...I love you? What about 'I'm glad you're here?' Even just 'nice to meet you' would have been preferable to 'hi.' Ali was beginning to get angry. This person was her daughter now, and she was going to act like it!
She turned to Jay, then to Megan, then back again before speaking.
"All right, guys. Let's go to the animal shelter and get Meg a pet."

After ten years of marriage, Jay knew better than to argue with Ali Maine. If she thought that getting a kitten for the girl sulking in the back seat was a good idea, then that's what was going to happen. He was just the one driving the car and listening to whatever directions his energetically blonde wife had to give. Obediently, he turned into the animal shelter nearest to the house and stopped the car.
Jay turned to his daughter. "Ok, Meg-"
"My name is Megan." She gave him a scowl.
"Ok, Megan, this is the place. You want a nice dog?" He smiled hopefully down at her, and she shrugged. It was an improvement--last time he had talked to her she had rolled her eyes.
Ali didn't even try to play nice with her daughter. She rolled up her sleeves and walked inside, nodding at the blonde attendant waiting for them.
"Hi, I'm Ali. This is my daughter Megan, and she's looking for a pet. Whatever she wants goes."
The attendant smiled and showed Meg and her semi-parents into a room filled with cage upon cage of pets.
"This is, like, Cassie. She's a lab, and she's really, like, sweet. I think you would like her a lot." Blondey snapped her gum. Ali rolled her eyes.
"Thank you for your help" (she looked at the attendant's name tag) "Jilla. We really appreciate it, but I know animals. My family will be fine from here."
"Like, whatever you want," Jilla replied. Ali nodded once, then dragged Megan over to the cages.
"Ok. So look through and find one you like, and Jay and I will fill out the papers." Megan nodded, and Ali hesitantly left her alone to begin her quest.

Meg Collins wanted a pet more than anything else right then. She had had a cat once, back when she was living with her mother, but once Mom had started to go downhill Azura was taken away fast. Her neighbor, however, had had something much more exciting than her tabby cat: a real live JellyBean Dragon. It was probably too much to hope that such a rare species could be found at a small shelter like this, but she could hope...Meg was going to live with complete strangers. She didn't love this person who called herself her mother, and she didn't love the quiet father-man any better. Animals, especially JBDs, offered unquestioning love. If she could find a dragon, she wouldn't be completely alone.
Megan sifted through dozens of dogs, german shepherd puppies and elderly afghan hounds alike. They were all the same to her, and none of them mattered. She was on a quest to find a JellyBean Dragon, and she was going to succeed if her life depended on it. But there was nothing but dogs as far as the eye could see, and she was beginning to think she should just hitch a plane back to England. Just when she had almost given up hope, she spotted something: an unnatural shade of green in the corner of one of the cages. Yes! A dragon, a real one! She read the tag on the cage door.
Hi! My name is Willow. I am three years old, and I get along with all animals as long as they're not too overbearing. I am sweet and shy, but once I get out of my shell I can be a lot of fun!
Meg smiled. Perfect. She reached her fingers into the cage, and the dragon picked up his nose to say hi. She sucked in her breath--his eyes were pink! The most beautiful, pastel shade of pink in the whole world, and they were focused on her and her alone. Megan dashed away from the cage to find Ali and Jay.
When Ali Maine learned her new daughter had immediately found the only JBD in the shelter, she couldn't have been more proud. Sure, Willow didn't have the conformation of her showdragons, but whatever would make Megan happy was what they were going to get. She got the key from Jilla and let Meg take Willow outside to get better acquainted, then got the adoption papers and started filling them in with a zeal. This was going to work out fine. Everybody was going to be happy.
Outside, Megan looked down at the little creature by her side and brimmed over with happiness. Happy--what a weird sensation. She didn't think she'd felt it since she was about ten. Willow bounced up by her side, and Meg sat down in the tall blades of grass and took off her shoes. Then she leapt up again and started to run, her heart soaring into the pure blue sky. Her long black and pink socks barely touched the soft rough grass as she bounded across the lawn, her new best friend right by her side.
Happiness bubbling out of her, Meg couldn't resist breaking into song. Out of breath and gleeful she shrieked the lyrics, her melodies rising up into the clouds. She had never been this happy. Ever. Willow leapt up again and tried to bite the ends of her hair, and she yelped and tumbled down into the long green grass, rolling over and laughing as her dragon licked her face and nibbled her nose.
From the window, Ali watched. She too was feeling something she had never really felt before: unadulterated, no-questions-asked love. She would do anything for the happy little girl frisking across the lawn, anything. Especially anything to make sure she stayed this happy forever.
Jay walked up behind his wife and put his arm around her waist. She leaned her head against his shoulder and watched, her eyes blurred with happy tears. Jay was astounded. Where was Ali, his ever-strong wife who never showed emotion? He looked up to the sky. Who cared? He liked this soft Ali better. Looking down again, he buried his nose in her hair, smelling strawberry shampoo and happiness. Megan and Willow had a family. And for the first time since they had been married, that family was no-conditions happy.

Art:
These two below are both editables, and the not-so-great eye at the top is entirely mine. It was the first thing ever I drew on my tablet, so really just a practice. Yes, the second editable I changed the markings a little; it didn't look good all green. ;)

                            I said, people

We're all looking for love tonight

But sometimes we can't see it

                            We're blinded by light

And we all get low, all get low

Searching for that piece of mind

                            Just when I've given up

                            Looking for some kind inside

{{. I love me some barrel racing.

Congrats and M'ov deserves it, but what about art/story? I know, I know, I'm being a really bad sport right now. It's just that the story took me SO LONG when I could/should have been focusing on the personality instead...do they not count as much as I thought they did?
