Username: I am Fire-RoseName: Her name is ZahariGender: Filly, growing up to be a stunning mareHalter Color: I think soft pink would suit her bestGood or evil?: Zahari is a heavenly good foal
Personality: Zahari is a sweet young soul. She can’t help but care for every creature in the world, no matter how small. She enjoys playing with others, from sunrise to set and never turns down a good race across the fields. Zahari can be shy, especially if she is in an new setting with no one around who she knows. But once she gets the courage up, you would see her interacting with everyone by the end of the day.
Foal's Relationship with Undyne: Zahari is quite fearful of her ghostly father. He drifts around, sometimes not even acknowledging her. She stays clear of his temper, trying very hard not to upset him. Undyne rarely talks to his daughter, and when he does, more than half the time it is about how she is too perky and he raised her to be a powerful force, not a prancing flower. Zahari is pretty sure that she loves her demonic father, and she wants to, but she often doubts that feeling when he destroys her colorful flower creations or scolds her for something she believes is not at all wrong.
Parent You'll Be Breeding Undyne To: Zerro Foal's Relationship with other parent: Zahari is very close to Zerro. She feels like she can confide in him with anything, and that he will always protect her. Even though both of her fathers can be self centered, Zerro understands her more and doesn’t shoe her away. Her soothing father embraces her and lets her do what she loves, no matter if it is collecting flowers or bones.
Your Relationship with the Foal: We both show respect to each other. She is learning to trust me, as I am her. She is a graceful and friendly filly, and can be shy sometimes. I spend hours at a time with her, many of which consist of me talking to her while she munches grass and glances at me.

Caveat Emptor // Kokytos "Koky"
[a Latin phrase meaning "may the buyer beware"]
[a Greek word for the river of wailing that runs throughout the Greek underworld]
[barn name pronounced 'co-key-toas; nickname 'co-key']

genderqueer
[no obvious biological gender]
[appears to accept he/him or they/them without complaint]

something very shiny and metallic; like so
or something like this, but with the glitter texture included

fundamentally good.
Kokytos has the potential for cruelty in the way caged tigers do. He is a being of explosive energy, of awesome aggression; he is quiet like his mother but he is silver-tongued as well. The Clovercliff horses call him 'the boy king' for he is young yet powerful and noble and he has inherited the leadership of the horses by sheer determination alone. He is surprisingly clever and willing to physically impose others to achieve what he wants. He is a prime example of "the end justifies the means".
Yet still, he remains good. Koky is dangerous but he's not violent anymore; he strives to maintain an even level of control over himself and his emotions. He expects great things from the other horses but he's not silly and despite his age he's not infantile either. He sees the world in cold colors and stark facts and recognizes the weak for what they are. Rather than immediately disposing himself of them however he works to achieve the potential he sees.

humane || meritorious || despotic || ebullient
Kokytos was raised immersed in mythology and as he grew he remained straddled between the two worlds. He's moralistic but in a rather complicated fashion, as he has his own interpretations for what exactly morals are. When Koky is called 'humane' it is not because he is kind but because he is merciful in his own way. He will not draw out torment for longer than necessary but he does not spare anyone for even a good reason. He expects certain things from certain individuals but he has a hard time understanding that sometimes he's inevitably disappointed. He simply expects too much; not everyone can be as relentless as him, as unbreakable. Kokytos can bend all the way backwards before he snaps.
He's somewhat tyrannical in his ruling of the Clovercliff horses but he exercises his power in an interesting way. He wants things to happen in specific ways yes, but he has also grown up among these horses and he respects them for who they are. He's very, very hard to impress, and whenever new horses come into Clovercliff they have a great deal to prove to him. The Boy King is an iron-fisted ruler. Still, despite his heritage and his strange parents, Koky remains soft at heart. He's basically happy; he enjoys the responsibilities of leading, the experience of it. He likes walking beside his mother when the flowers bloom in the spring and there is the heady scent of pollen in the air. But he likes too pressing his chest against another's and spitting orders at them, at seeing one quiver in fear, at allowing a horse to bend a knee to him. It is perhaps unsurprising that he has inherited some of Undyne's temperament.

Kokytos recognizes the reality of his relationship with Undyne. Undyne is a temptation; Undyne is what Kokytos could be if he loosed the aggression he so diligently restrains. He's mostly afraid of Undyne and for what he means for himself, what he means to the blood churning through Koky's hot veins. He stays as far away from Undyne as he possibly can, and excuses himself from any situation that may place them in close quarters. On those infrequent occasions that he has to keep him company he is sullenly obedient; he keeps his head down but he mutters ugly things under his breath in tangled Greek.

Et In Arcadia Ego // Asphodel

[p.s. it's in Asphodel's original breeding notes that her wing marking will not pass to foals]

At first, Asphodel did not trust Kokytos. He knew it enough to resent her for it, to inflict on her those fierce emotions he would later learn to corral and control but since he has grown up some he's come to understand her hesitation of his true intentions. In fact, he admires her quite a lot now; she's somewhat odd, always caught up in her own head and pressed against her mate Fox's side, but she is also quick and clever and seems so very experienced. She has helped Kokytos take control of himself, helped remind him that he has the potential to be good as well, helped show him that to every coin there is a flipside and that it is not shameful to need help.

day 2
Asphodel bore a foal last night, but something seems to be wrong with it. She's wary around his nursing and she won't allow me into the stall. When I stand beside the door it smells like honeysuckles, though I can't find the source and it's not the season for it. There were birds singing all night, even when the moon hung heavy in the sky.
day 3
The colt bit a handler badly this morning; I had to drive her to the hospital. She needed twelve stitches and she would not tell me what had happened no matter how I asked. She emailed me her resignation at the stables. I sat out on the front patio reading her letter and watched the foal that had so badly hurt her play among the tall weeds. It seems like the other horses are afraid of him but I don't know why I think that. Maybe it's the way they slink by when he looks at them.
day 4
I had a dream last night and woke up thinking about the rivers that wind their way through the Greek's hell. I've taken to calling the colt 'Kokytos' from some half-remembered middle school lesson. I can't quite recall what it means. He seems to preen when I call him by that name.
Asphodel is hesitant to let me near. When she pushes her way between us it is not me she is facing but her foal, as if she is expecting him to bite even her. I have seen no outright aggression from Kokytos and have only the stiff hair on the back of my neck to go by. I often see a trio of crows sitting close to him, perched on a fence post or picking their way through the grass. He is not afraid of them and sometimes it looks almost like he is seeking their advice.
day 12
Asphodel's behavior has normalized. I've seen Fox in the pasture she shares with Kokytos often and she is no longer afraid of her colt. He is strange still, and his body seems too hot under my open palm but he is as quick as his mother and clever. When I went to take Asphodel a bucket of oats I witnessed some of the stallions on their knees before Koky, their proud heads bent. Kokytos seems far older than he is. When our eyes meet it feels as though he is seeing more than what's on the surface.
day 45
Kokytos is growing slender and tall. The horses respect him; he flits between their smaller groups with all the ease of a true ruler. He has recently become friends with some and the handlers are learning in how to approach him, how to never make eye contact or touch him before he knows they're there. Occasionally I see him stop and look closely at a new blossom and frolic like a child but those days are few and far between now. I worry about when I try and take him to saddle; there's something wild about him, something that tells me he will not stoop to a rider. Still, I watch him. There's potential there, under his teeth and glinting eyes.
[My mother told me that Kokytos is the river of despair. She seems surprised that I would call a horse by that name. It was difficult to explain to her that sometimes he scares me his eyes are too cruel it just fits, somehow.]

username; cairo.
name; thunder clouds come rolling in // raio (hi-u)
gender; stallion
halter; black with silver clasps
good or evil; evil
parent you'll be breeding undyne to; galaxy
personality;
fiesty and ferocious to the end, raio is a moral sort
of criminal mastermind. he has a strong sense of
right and wrong even though it tends to differ from
other's opinions. he is a rather nasty guy but he has
lines he won't cross. he's loyal to a fault but has a
hard time trusting anyone new. it takes him a while
to warm up but once he does he'll do whatever is
needed to help out. he's made up his own code of
justice over the years and he's not exactly open to
criticism. if anything, he stubbornly refuses to admit
any wrong doing or mistakes on his part. he can also
be very argumentative, especially when he feels
challenged in some way.
∙・• ✦ •・∙
relationship with undyne;
raio and undyne disagree about everything. more often than not, raio leaves in a huff and refuses to acknowledge his father for a week straight. no one quite understands why the two fight so much but raio thinks it's because they're too similar. raio does however respect undyne, despite everything, and will defend him when need be. raio believes in the whole ''family comes first'' thing and no matter how tick off he is with undyne, he'd stand up for him.
relationship with galaxy;
the complete and total opposite of raio's relationship with undyne. raio loves papa galaxy's sense of adventure and curiosity. they do get into small arguments but galaxy is just too sweet for raio too stay mad at. in fact he usually lets galaxy win their arguments, in spite of his competitive nature. raio also admires galaxy's care-free, relaxed attitude and sometimes wishes he could let loose a bit.
your relationship with raio;
raio is very particular about being handled. he allows his human to groom him but anything extra like braids or bows are strictly off limits and that rule is enforced with razor sharp teeth. he's skittish around humans and only lets his touch him. ever. over a very long time and several close calls he has come to trust his human. she was slowly able to train him, even though it took almost twice as long as usual, considering he'd stop dead and refuse to move if she did something he didn't like. once trained however, raio proved to be an excellent jumper and he almost began to look forward to hearing his human's footsteps against the wood floor and the jangle of the bit as she walked. their relationship is far from typical but they've made a silent agreement that raio does what she says most of the time and she backs off when he refuses to do something.
