kalon name: Shiloh Akuruhi Échelart, nickname is Ruhi
Shiloh means "peaceful/tranquil" or "pacificator", Akuruhi means "the next day" or "the following day"
prompt: Oh brother, he breathed in deep,
I'm not sure how much longer I can do this, Shiloh trembled, the silence in response, as always, was deafening, the world felt so much larger, more dangerous now, but he had to do his best, remain strong, for his brother,
so that when he gets back, he will tousle my hair, tell me I did good, that all will be okay, that there was a very good reason for his absence, and hug me like he once did; I wouldn't have to worry about anything again for he would handle it, and it will all go back to the way things were. Deep down he partially knew this an incredulous belief, but he couldn't help himself, the alternative too hard to process, let alone cope with.
The moment had been ordinary, until it wasn't, the gentle sleepy peace rebelliously shattering, as if to mock everything their kingdom stood for, all effort their eldest brother had gone to, maintaining it all, it was so fragile a creature, this peace, that it felt like the moment Lorien had disappeared, was the moment peace became lost to them.
"What do you mean he's missing? I spoke to him just this morn!", but a panic was fingering at his chest, insidiously, lingering, clawing, "Where is Father?" a small hope, "I must go to him." he didn't simply leave, he tore through the halls, desperate, with immense urgency,
Father would know the most, it is simply a misunderstanding, he whimpered, a tiny sob of stress unintentionally releasing, and once he arrived, a small cry of dismay, for his Father was no longer attending Lorien's throne room as he had been told. "Someone please lead me to Father," for he just couldn't keep going in that moment without support, even from someone he barely knew. Thus led to Lorien's bedchambers,
oh, he is here? he questioned, unsure, panic transforming gently into dread that settled like rocks in his belly, and with much hesitance, he pushed open his brother's door; immediately he recoiled, for the wailing inside, and subsequent grief bombarding himself in waves, was immense.
Father is crying? Not just crying, inconsolable? So- No, he couldn't let himself finish that thought, he pushed forward instead, and bit his lip upon seeing the scene; Father upon brother's bed kneeling to something unseen, begging, pleading...he was not in a state to be talked to, but Shiloh had to try, tentatively, "Father?", whom whirled about, a sudden grip on his shoulders, "Ah, that hurts!" Shiloh protested, "You know the news?! Lorien is gone!" "Gone where?" he suggested, hoping against hope,
"GONE!", Shiloh flinched at the yell, but more so flinched at what he was being told. "No.
No. I don't believe you,
No, he is coming back!" He fled before he could hear the response.
"You must remember my investment," he coughed, muttering about loyalty, Shiloh felt a sickness rising in his chest, then throat,
ugh, couldn't he just run away? go now and never look back? find him? The horrible man before him sniffed miserably,
but if Lorien returned in my absence, or what if the kingdom fell to further disaster or disarray from lack of me? But he was
not his brother, noone was, the sum of all their parts combined could not make up for that...and it is slowly falling apart regardless as siblings scramble for power.
I miss you, please... He took a sharp, chilling intake of breath, everything felt like grains of sand falling through his fingers, no matter how much he clutched them, they fell inevitably.
"Investment does not equate to land." Shiloh sighed out.
How long must he hold out? How long must he wait?
The pressure has been...continues to be, unbearable... He hadn't understood what had happened at first, how could he have? Eldest brother was perfect, infallible, beloved by all, what did they mean he was gone? Even after time has passed, he couldn't truly accept their verdict, he wasn't coming back, that he wasn't here anymore,
no, not true, can't be, all I have to do is hold everything together and wait...he will return.Somewhere in the distance, a frustrated cry cannot be heard, blocked by cursed magic.
