Serious: He had an accident that may have involved radioactive waste. He survived with his remaining torso and up, with his back legs and tail being destroyed in the process. Due to the waste his bones became green but somehow still manage to function normally.

when they were younger, they wandered into the forest while playing outside. They got stuck in a bear trap and it took weeks before somebody found them. It was a miracle they were still alive.
