Asteria wasn’t exactly a well liked kalon, but who could know a kalon they'd never really seen. She was renowned for being an enchantress of sorts, a siren with her song turned into addictively beautiful eyes. She was a sight to behold, well rather her eyes against her mesmerising silver hair. No one really knows her name per say, she was just nicknamed “Asteria”. Asteria was a goddess of the night sky and stars originating from the same place she first appeared, the sky clan. Most mysteries came from the kingdom closest to the gods but she was some how different from the rest. Other than being a beautiful creature she was more or less a complete mystery, she was only eyes and hair that never spoke a word. She is always wearing a heavy black coat with a blank expression on her face, long white hair covering everything but her eyes.
The moon shined bright through the thin leaves of the trees she was running under. The stars glimmered showing her the way home, away from anyone else. It was difficult to make out where she was or where she was going, even with the bright moon, trees only coming in sight after almost running into them. She couldn’t stop though, someone was on her tail. Not just someone, a queen. Queen Eva of the mole people to be exact. She had never actually saw Eva per say, rather heard her and someone talking to her through the bushes a ways back.
She knew for a fact she was chasing her though, the forest was quiet enough to easily hear her snapping sticks while running over them. She had nothing to hide or personally against her, people just usually didn’t get along with her and her eyes. It was more than difficult to run through the forest with a long, heavy coat, especially when you couldn’t see where the branches and rocks are. Never the less she had to keep running from Eva, from the kalons who wanted to look into her eyes. But just like that she was down. Her coat caught onto a large tree branch, pushing her down to the dirt. She held her breath for a moment hoping, praying, that she had lost the queen down the road. Praying did not help her much.
“Asteria!”, she yelled out to the kalon laying on the ground in defeat. She could hear the queen walking around her, she knew it was a matter of time before she would be taken back to the kingdom. She was as motionless as possible again, hoping she would just walk away, but again, she was wronged by the stars. Eva only inches away from her head kneeled down and uncovered her head. Her hair still covered much of her face but what was the point, she couldn’t run anymore.
She helped herself to sit up still looking down at the dirt. Eva took a seat in front of her placing her paw on her shoulder. Asteria’s face stayed blank but it was hard to tell either way in the lighting of the forest. She placed her paw on her should to comfort her, to get her to speak. She had never spoken a word since her childhood and didn’t plan to anytime soon. She moved her paw off her shoulder, she declined her friendship.
Even without seeing her, or anyone really, she had learned to make out what they look like and where they are more or less using her other senses. They sat there next to each other for many moments of silence, neither of them really knew what to do. All Eva wanted to do was catch up to her and all Asteria wanted to do was run from her and everyone else. Eva had gotten her way but what was she to do now?
“Who are you, Asteria?”, she asked calmly and quietly hoping not to startle her. They sat in silence a moment longer, neither sure of what to reply with. With her hair covering her eyes she lifted her head up. There was no way she was getting away from her without answering her so might as well make some short and simple replies, even if it means using her voice. She tried to say something but couldn’t bring herself to speak to anyone. She covered her face with the hood and opened her eyes. It was too dim for her to see her eyes so she figured it was safe to look.
Eva was beautiful! She was more than a queen, she was a goddess. Her eyes were nothing like hers but for some reason she could not bring herself to look away. She was in awe. She felt… connected to her somehow.
“Eva-“, she began in her husky voice but quickly stopped after realizing what she was doing. She had spoked for the first time in years, and it wasn’t even her intention. Eva lit up at the sound of her speaking, she was amazed hearing her for the first time, being the first to ever hear her voice.
“You can speak?”, she quickly replied swinging her tail around like a happy puppy. Asteria, unsure of what to actually do now that she had done that, nodded. Eva was ecstatic, her smile stretched from ear to ear and then some. She was confused but more than that amazed. She was visibly almost about to scream with joy but had enough self control to not do something stupid like that. She took a few heavy breaths to calm herself and was ready to continue questioning her.
“May I see who you are?”, she asked politely reaching out her paw to help her take off the coat. Asteria sat there for a few moments thinking, questioning if she should actually reveal her identity to this newly met queen. She began unbuttoning the collar that kept the hood on but hesitated, she had just met this stranger. She again, had never shown her true self to anyone, especially someone she met moments ago. Eva was to astounding and seemed so sweet, she just couldn’t refuse declining the queen.
She removed her coat revealing her sky light pelt and pulled her hair back. She looked at Eva, this time eye to eye.

Dropping out....
My idea didn't come out as thought, goodluck everyone!
(S)he is a beauty!
username; burninflames
name; Nyx: goddess of the night
gender; Female
eyes; one the eye of the sun and the other of the moon
sister?; Nyxs' eyes are something she thinks about often. She does not hide them for the fear of what people may think or say. She could care less about such silly actions and thoughts. Rather she hides them because the direct sun light burns her "night" eye and the direct moon light burns her "sun" eye. When she is curled up in the dark of her home she pulls back her hair for niether burn.
Nyx has no idea how her eyes came to be but there was a tale she heard years ago that spiked her interest.
It was not that long ago a proud soon to be mother was resting. She rubbed her belly and sung to the twin girls that grew within. She all of a sudden felt a sudden burst of tension in her belly and screamed out, "The babies! No not now!" She knew exactly what was happening but her husband was not home and he had to be here.
She sucked in a breath and breathed.
In and out she thought. Stressing herself out would do no good.
She was ready.
After a long laber the two girls were finally out but the mother was weak, her breath shallow as she tried to continue singing. The father had finally returned and he rushed to herside, unpon hearing the faint whipper of the new borns. He smiled and was filled with an exuberant amount of joy until he saw his wife so weak her eyes could barely stay open. "Hold on Hera, you'll be fine," the father said worry laced in every word. Hera gripped her husbands hand, "Shh don't worry...it is...all okay." The father was in horror as her words mummbled and her heart slowed. Hera died her arms curled tightly around her daughters.
The father just cried, tears pouring over Hera. His cries were so loud a Kalon heard them as she walked by. The women entered and asked, "Why are you so sad my dear?" The husband out raged yelled, "My wife is dead, leave me!" The stranger just tisked and spoke softly, "All you must do is ask and she will return to you." The husband lifted his head saying, "What do you say witch?" It was true the stranger was a witch and one of great power. "All you must do is ask and she will come back to you, but be carful at the price," said the witch. The husband sticken with grief spoke quickly not thingking of the last words, "Please return my wife." The witch did as he said and in an instant Hera eyes fluttered open and now tears of joy strick his face. "Hera," he said tears of joy now falling down his face. "What happened?" Hera asked her voice weak. "Shh my dear," he said, "were all safe now. Our little family is safe." The witch laughed and said with an almost unworldly voice, "Your family of three." The father puzzeled tilted his head down and there sat only one child whoes eyes now burned brightly with the sun and moon. He jumped up and spun to face the witch, who held the other. "Do not speak for this is your doing. A life for a life," the witch growled. "So you do not forget me and my generosity younge child your eyes shall burn of night and day!" the witch cooed to the new born still in the parents grasps. The father leaped but just fell into the ground for the witch was gone.
Nyx believes none of this story for if she had a sister her parents would surely tell her. Though every time one of her eyes got a light they did not desire, the voice of the old lady swirled in the back of her mind. "So you do not forget me younge child your eyes shall burn of night and day.

username; winged-backpackname; Cassiopeiagender; Femaleextra story/writing: Cassiopeia was an experimental astronomer. What is that, you ask? She would use magic, potions and different lenses, with tints and extra magnification, to be able to study the moon as closely as possible without being able to visit it in person. She always used her left eye (right from other people's perspective) to look through her telescope, until one day, the unthinkable happened.
She had concocted a new potion, one that could give the drinker the feeling of being on the moon, whilst keeping their feet firmly on the ground. However, the potion is a very tricky, difficult to make potion, and any deviance from the recipe could result in permanent disfigurement or death. Confident that she had followed every instruction, she drank it and sprang over to her telescope to test out the effects.
A brilliant flash of light and an explosion occurred as the light from the moon destroyed the lenses of her telescope and Cassiopeia flew back as a result. She had not in fact produced the potion correctly, as she began making the potion under a blood moon, which is specified as something to avoid as the effects of doing so were unknown (the potion should be started under a pure full moon).
As she stood up, she realised that she could no longer see out of her left eye. Sprinting over to a mirror, she examined her damaged eye to see that it had taken on the same colour and form as the moon, as well as some small cuts on her sclera from the shattered glass. She was distraught!
As pretty as it looked, she had to quit her job as an astronomer and retire to the countryside, where she could still look up at the stars at night. As a result of the accident, she no longer makes potions, and she has developed a serious phobia of telescopes. The moon itself is a constant reminder for her of the accident and the mistake she made.
She isn't particularly happy with the way her life has turned out, but she is slowly overcoming her fears and is trying to get back into astronomy so that she can move back into her old observatory to continue her research once more.

extra story/writing: vvv ───── ❝ONCE IN A BLUE MOON❞
“What do you think her eyes look like?” A whisper, but not quite a good one, considering she could still hear the voices of the others. It was something that they always wondered, her clients. How could she see the cards she was reading if her hair blocked everything? Was she hiding something? Maybe she was blind- but no, she could read the signs in the stars, so she had to see, right?
One of her favorite stories about her eyes was that she’d sold them for great power, only to be cursed into obscurity. Her second favorite was one she’d heard from a child, that maybe she just didn’t have eyes, just like her doll, but that was okay because it was still her favorite doll and very pretty anyways. Monroe had even received a very solemn pat on the shoulder. She’d thanked the kit, and whispered a secret in her ear - “Once in a blue moon,” she’d said, voice flavored with just the right amount of intrigue, “I can see the future, but only if my eyes have been closed to the present. So I have to keep them hidden, you see?”
There had been another she’d told a story to. It had started off the same, but ended so different. The woman who’d come to have her fortune read seemed an atypical visitor - she was with another, and her voice rang with easy laughter. She seemed to thrive in the present, and Monroe dealt with the future. But the woman’s friend had went to wait, and she’d almost changed, waning much like the moon, a mere glimpse of her previous brightness. “I need to know,” she’d said, hanging her head, “I need to know about my future. I - I haven’t told anyone yet, but my vision” she took a deep breath, like this story had been clawing to come out, and only once she’d told it could she rest, “My vision’s going. I don’t know how soon- Is it the same for you?” She gazed at Monroe hungrily, eyes seeking out the curtain of monroe’s hair. “They tell stories about your eyes. Is it like mine?”
And Monroe had stared her story. “They say that once in a blue moon,” smiling with her voice, “I tell the truth of my eyes.” She paused, as if thinking, “You must forgive a fortune teller her love for the dramatic. One is like the water, touched by the moon’s light. The other has seen too much, too brightly- that most vision is lost to its sight.” It wasn’t quite what the woman wanted - Monroe could read paws and the stars and even tarot cards, but she could read kalons further, in the minute way they shifted and drew breath. “It’s hard, to know that half of what I see is- missing. A trauma, to know that you are being ripped from something that is yours. But friends can lend you strength, and you must be strong. You must not let it harm you; do not let your tale rot within you. Speak about it to who you must; let it free.” Her words flowed from her perspective to the woman’s- because that was what she did. She told the future, and how to survive. “The one outside- your friend- they can see something is hurting you. But they will wait, because that is what they feel you want. But sometimes, what you want is not what you need.”
The woman left- thanking Monroe for her truth.
Her story, more accurately. Not all stories were true, but all had some parts of truth. And if it could help, then it would be the truth to the kalon who’d just left her shop.
What did it matter that it might just be a story? A fortune teller did need to keep her secrets, after all.

| extra story/writing; | her job was a simple one, a waitress. she didn't particularly like the
people she served, but she did get enough money so that she wouldn't quit. it was a common
occurrence to have people staring at her for covering her face.. but she didn't try to draw m
uch attention to it. there were a few times when a curious customer would purposely cause h
er hair to move out of the way, only to gasp at the stars hidden in her eyes. it was likely tha
t they would give her a hefty tip afterwards, but she couldn't really care less. she didn't like
the attention placed on her, but the girl with the starry eyes spread quickly around the large
town. she wished it were different, despite the attention she gets from her eyes. she's alway
s been the type to keep to herself, so it's quite a change for her. she is slowly getting used to
it, but she will never really like the attention she's getting from her starry eyes. [175 words]
