[Personality]
Everyone's first impression of Esmer is that he's a bit of a jock. Well, more than a bit of a jock. He's kind of a jerk, now that you mention it. He's got a smirk on his face and he's incredibly, frustratingly condescending to everyone. It's almost like he's pretending he knows better than anyone else. And of course, he's very competitive. Everything they do is based on his need to prove himself. Basically, Esmer's got some issues to work on.

When he's not putting on his tough guy persona, however, Esmer's actually a pretty decent person. They've got a really, really soft side. They like writing poetry and petting cats and writing things about the rain.

Esmer feels a need to hide behind his tough guy personality because when he was younger, people would shut down his soft hearted ideals and turn him into something else. He fought it for a while, but eventually, he caved into their expectations and became what everyone wanted him to be. They wish they didn't. They feel like their life would have been so much better if they weren't such a jerk.

Even so, they tend to get irritated when people bother them. It's just that he doesn't want constant social interaction, and although his bark is worse than his bite, he will bark. Loudly. It's very frustrating when people don't listen to and respect him when he needs them to.

[Story]

Esmer sat at the bus stop in the rain, head leaned back as music flooded his brain from the music in his earbuds.

It had been a bit of a mess today. He'd pushed too far, too hard against someone who'd he'd been picking on for ages, and there had been fall out. And truth be told, he was ashamed to show his face.

"Stupid," he scolded himself under his breath. "Stupid, stupid. That's now how you make friends. That's not how you interact!"

Tears dripped down his face, and he didn't bother wiping them away. The rain disguised them.

At least the bus was here now. Slowly, as if in a trance, Esmer made his way onto the bus, paid the fare, and took a seat in the back. Perhaps he'd go to the library. Yes, that was an excellent plan.

He wiped the droplets off of his phone screen and began to write. A poem. An apology. Anything to make this situation better.

The bus trip seemed to stretch on forever and ever. Not exactly the ever impatient Esmer's favorite thing, but he could deal. He could deal.

He finally arrived, and soon was in the library. A soft smile crossed his face - he always loved the books. The library was always there for him.
