「The Kumori Clan. Since the days of the Gods, this clan has protected two powerful, ancient tantō: Zen'aku Funi and Shikisokuzeku. The blades were gifted to them by Idaten no kami, a Buddhist God, during a time of turmoil to protect the monks of the area. Kumori Takeichirou was the first kalon of the clan chosen to use the tantō. Since then, every Kumori Guardian has been picked out by their predecessor.

It's been thousands of years and the chain had yet to be broken.

Until now.

Kumori Hojirou has been training as the Guardian since he was a little kit. Truthfully, the role hadn't been gifted to him. It was meant for his father. A disease plagued the area and the Kumori clan; wiping out the previous Guardian and the named successor. The elders saw this as a bad omen, and put Hojirou under intense training to prepare him for what may come.

Every day was gruelling for the guardian-to-be, filled with blood, sweat, tears, and blisters. It was hell. It made Hojirou hate the elders. Hate the clan. Hate the guardianship. Hate the tantō. Hate the Gods themselves.
He didn't want this role. He didn't want to stay stuck in this clan, filled with glares of contempt towards him.
