Welcome to Tempus Lepus, time rabbits!
These guys have an anthro and feral form, the feral form being how they get about the world without being spotted. These guys can live for many years, and when their time is nearing the end they'll sense it. The clock starts off completely internal and as the years go by it begins to work it's way out which is how the rabbit knows when it's time is nearing it's end. They've then got to find someone and hand over their clock. This ends their life but some of their memories will be passed onto the recipient of their clock, and the recipient becomes a clock rabbit and is how the species survives. The clock's time is reset when it gets a new owner.
If they don't pass their clock on, they will pass away naturally and their clock will stop. It will never start up again and the magic inside it is gone, it becomes useless.
If the clock is damaged the rabbit would fall prey to corruption and most likely became either evil or just a little tormented depending on the degree, and whilst clocks can be damaged they can't be destroyed. These guys can wear clothes, but accessories/outfits stay as they swap forms so for the sake of passing off as a normal rabbit very few of them will actually wear a full outfit, because a fully clothed rabbit hopping about would get some attention for sure.
Some of the oldest rabbits have even begun to find new ways of blending into the world with humanoid forms! They still keep their ears, tail and clock though so they're still working on how to turn into a full human.
These guys can't breed but that doesn't mean they can't fall in love and have mates, they can be any gender and sexuality.
As you can probably tell from everything so far these guys also have some magical abilities besides form swapping forms. The older the clock the more power they typically have, these powers range from freezing time, seeing glimpses of the past/future to full blown time travel.
