Silence reigned, a deafening hush falling like darkness, shadowing the song of the forest.

And there was nothing. The world had lapsed into deep slumber, little avians tucked within the heart of a tree and tiny critters curled within burrows unseen to the kiss of winter. Gnarled, knobby branches stretched to ashen skies with faint clouds, ghostly wisps, as pale as an apparition.

Her paws crunched through the snow, fur ruffling against the frost-bitten gales.

But there was a strange beauty to it ━ a mysterious allure. It was the calm before the storm, a time of rest before renewal, a time where a blanket of ivory covered the crimson spilled from wounds executed by bandits and thieves. By predators… from hounding dogs to thieving badgers seeking trouble. Yet under the realm of winter, they all vanished.

And there was peace.

Her head lifted as a lone leaf scurried along the snow, fleeing with the wind.

With a rustle, the crinkled leaf rested along thick roots, cradled under the shelter of a steady pine. And beneath it… there was something else. A snowball. She rested a gentle paw on it, pressing down.

Little leaves escaped, bursting out, infusing the breeze with a sweet, sweet aroma. A reminder of brighter days ahead… all from a little stash, forgotten by an absentminded critter. (+1 blackberry leaves, +1 ragwort, +1 watermint, +1 hawkweed)

And the dawn streamed to life.

Colors bloomed, blossoming, from delicate golds to the palest roses, chasing darkened wisps of azure and ash, transforming the dark into radiant light. The morning star arose, head lifting from the horizon, crowning the forest with shafts of light. And marking the start of a new dawn… a new age. A new clan.

Shellstar eased a slow breath out, a small smile curving as a gentle breeze kissed the curls upon her cheek. The wind frolicked, twirling loose leaves and twigs, casting vibrant feathers in its wake. Far beyond, smoke churned, spiralling from within a housefolk's warm lodge.

The morning was… perfect. Fresh with promises, hopes and dreams.
And the thrill of an adventure.

A silver flash sparked, rising from amidst the trees.

And caught within those brittle branches, a little bag, crinkling with the winds. An unwanted remnant from one of the housefolk, but a… useful one the same. With a final whip from the wind, the silver bag kicked loose, drifting down.

Salt and spice wafted, tickling her nose… along with the promise of a quick snack. (+1FP scraps)

everywhere she would wander, the kisses of swans and angels followed, bestowing a lifetime of whimsical wonders upon reality. upon her reality.. the one that she needed to protect.

“ivypatch!” softer than the flutter of a whisper, a flourish of sienna greeted her, kissing her cheek as gentle grins blossomed like garden cresses before her. “wait up!”

“timbershine! is every-”

“there’s nothing you need to worry about.” eyes fluttering shut in a little wink, she wanders closer, teeth tangled around a stretch of bronze. “i just found something that i saw in your den once… maybe it could be useful?”

“oh. it’s burdock root!” a moment of bittersweet silence streamed between the two, before dwindling into a song. “thank you, timbershine… really.”

“no problem, ivyp- AGH!” with a corpse lily of chaos blooming as the tossled tangle of sienna curls plummeted before her, the butterflies in her chest seemed to tighten as a soft groan kissed the queen’s lips.

“timbershine! are you alright?”

“i-” stumbling to her feet, the queen’s features contorted, laced with the vibrant essence of discomfort. “my leg.. it’s-”

“what’s going on here? what happened?” brighter than the periwinkles of lobelias, eyes of the most luminescent of azures flickered from the inky depths of the shadows. hawkstripe.

As soon as the words had left sundust's lips, smokepaw was off in a flash of fur. Sundust sighed deeply
"What did I just say?" He meowed more to himself than the others and naturally not smokepaw who was already several tail lengths away sniffing away at a rock.
Mistpaw who was still significantly sleepy tried his best to blink it away. As he let out a yawn the scent of fresh kill hit his tongue. Her could practically feel its warm body in his mouth already, the idea made his mouth leak a little. He went to follow the scent and found his paws were also sleepy, he faceplanted into the forest floor, the warm feeling of fresh kill scent replaced by musty cold dirt. Quickly he got up and spat all he could out though some stuck to his teeth making them feel gritty. He looked ahead to where sundust and smokepaw were and could see two mice hanging from their mouths +2mice, +4FP, +4XP Mistpaw felt a sweep of annoyance, if his paws werent so sleepy he could have caught them. Maybe he really should talk to cloudchaser. But that would have to wait till later.
Though mistpaw missed put on catching prey he was able to find some herbs for cloudchaser +1borage leaves, +1XP. As he stood looking at them he couldnt help but wonder if these would be the right herbs to help him get better sleep. What did he know about herbs, better to leave that knowledge to the medicine cats that clog his thoughts up when he should be learning warrior stuff!
After their hunting, sundust and copperstrike brought them to check the territory border. For awhile all was quiet but suddenly smokepaw started to gag uncontrollably.
"What is that aweful smell?" Smokepaw asked between wretches. Mistpaw curiously sniffed to see if he could figure out what it was. He immediatly regretted it as his nose was punched with musk. The warriors smelled it too. The patrol picked up the scent of the badger do the cats choose to pursue the threat?

Brokenstar lead the patrol through the battered territory. Some spots she took a moment to gaze and remember the good memories spent in them when she was only an apprentice and the hardest thing in her day was choosing a good peice of prey. Brokenstar looked to those who remained with her and thought of the new memories to be made, she would have a lot harder decisions to make in the upcoming seasons. Hopefully she was ready. Of course she would be, starclan wouldnt have given her the nine lives if they didnt believe in her capabilities.
As she and the others walked along one of them stopped, managing to catch some prey! +1mouse, +2FP, +2XP

Valerianstorm, a young she-cat warrior, had wandered onto Flowerclan's territory. She had been about to burst with kits when Brokenstar decided that the she-cat could stay. With their numbers so low, Brokenstar could not say no to sheltering this well kept cat. The leader stayed silent about her suspicions that this she-cat had been a kitty pet, the only one she discussed this with was her deputy, Ghostmoon. The pair would whisper, not wanting to alarm Valerianstorm with their suspicions. One brisk leaf bare morning, Valerianstorm had a successful kitting of three healthy kits.

Brokenstar had been by her side as she kitted, as the clan had not trained a new medicine cat. A few dawns after the three were settled, Brokenstar sat beside their mother. "Apricot," the leader started, calling the cat by her original name, "Will you be staying with us now that the kits are here or will you be moving on?" The spotted leader was desperately hoping that the she-cat would decide to stay.

The peachy queen tilted her head to one side in confusion. "I would hope I am welcome to stay. I've grown fond of this wonderful place. My kits will be safe here, to make their own choices, and be able to stay with me." She pulled the three bundles closer to her belly, protecting them from something that Brokenstar could not see.

"You've been with us for a moon now," The leader started, pausing as if she should even ask, "May I ask where you came from and how you ended up in our meadow?" Her gaze was soft, showing concern and curiosity.

The queen licked her kits, each one on the tops of its head right in between their ears. She stiffened a bit thinking back on her past. "Well, I" The soft pelted cat stammered. "I come from housefolk, just like my siblings, and mother, and father...I don't know my father. He was raised with other housefolk. I haven't seen my siblings in moons, they were taken by housefolk of their own. My mother is the only one I really knew, I was raised with her housefolk. I don't want my kits to go through that, they have me and each other." She looked down at them, her eyes filling with pride.

"Where is their father?" Brokenstar asked.

"He said he wouldn't leave with us when I told him we were leaving to find a new home." She stared off, as if reminiscing on the tom.

Brokenstar decided that the queen needed a name befitting of a clan cat, now that she knew the she-cat was staying. The slender leader climbed onto a low hanging branch and called out, "Let all those cats old enough to patrol join me in a clan meeting!" The few cats they had padded beneath the leaders branch.

"Apricot, you have shown loyalty to Flowerclan. Today you will be getting your warrior name. From this moment forward, you will be known as Valerianstorm!" The queen sat taller and blinked her eyes slowly at their leader in thanks.

"Valerianstorm, for your first duty as a warrior, we will be going on a patrol! Ghostmoon and Penguinpebble, you will be joining us." Brokenstar leaped off the low hanging branch and told another warrior to watch the sleeping kits. Valerianstorm watched as the warrior padded to the nursery, on kit sitting duty. Anxiety filled her. "Thunderkit, Honeykit, and Rosekit will be fine." Brokenstar pushed her muzzle into the queens shoulder.

"Now, lead the way Valerianstorm."

”sundust? What animal does that smell belong to? I have never smelled something so awfull” smokepaw said as they tried to not concentrate on the smell

”that-that scent belongs to an badger..” sundust said he was concerned, he couldnt go after the badger with copperstrike alone, nor could he trust that smokepaw would go back to the camp with mistpaw

”what do we do sundust?” copperstrike asked, knowing that they couldnt leave the badger to be, as it would be a huge risk for it to come to the clans camp

”we should probably go back to camp and let others know-” as sundust turned to look at smokepaw and mistpaw he noticed smokepaw was missing, ”mistpaw,where did smokepaw go?” he asked, wishing that the answer wouldnt include the badger

”they went after the badger. ”mistpaw said looking at sundust

”and you didnt try to stop them?” he asked

”nope, its not my job to look after them” mistpaw said as he turned around ”ill go back to the camp, i would just be in the way when you try to catch smokepaw before the badger” he spoke and started walking back towards the forest

”alright,i trust you will go straight to camp mistpaw!” sundust meowed after mistpaw”lets go coppersrtike we cant waste time” he said as he and copperstrike started running after smokepaw, following their scent

<hmm, the scent seems to get stronger here… i wonder what badgers look like> they thought as they trotted after the scent, they heard some twigs crack somewhere near them to the right
<was that the badger?> they stopped and started looking around, <i dont> ”AAAAAAAAAA” they screamed as they noticed the badger charging towards them



”SMOKEPAW!” sundust screamed as he saw smokepaw running towards him and copperstrike, at first neither of them noticed the badger, but when they got closer they saw it

”DONT YOU DARE TOUCH MY APPRENTICE!” sundust yelled as he jumped towards the badger

It wasnt really a catch, nor was it substantial, but it helped quell her doubts about the territory. Newleaf had still barely arrived and prey was still returning. The twolegs and their scraps may be a useful prey source to fall back on, Especially if something went wrong and the future clan was in danger...

She shook herself. Now was not the time- She had a patrol to get on with.

(sorry about the word count on the last post! i wasn't planning on writing anything until right before i posted it and forgot about adding it. Also, if i can ask, do i add the items i get for turning on death to the inventory? or does someone have to confirm it?)
