Welcome to Jawels!
Jawels are a closed species, created and designed by me. Please do not make your own or remove the Fake sign without the proper items/approvals.
What are Jawels?
Jawels are creatures ranging in size from that of a coyote to the size of a mountain lion. They come in several different species that range across all climates, but ones like the above prefer cold weather. *This is the first of two species that will at some point be made available, but for now, only cold-weather Jawels, or Tundra Jawels, will be available to create.* All Jawels have crystals on their faces which cover the entirety of the tops of their heads, which often grow to become horns, which drop off seasonally and are regrown. These crystals come in all colors, and are extremely valuable.
Jawels are omnivorous creatures, but they prefer foodstuffs that come chock full of protein. They hunt and live in groups of about 15-20 individuals, called Tribes. All members of the Tribe have equal responsibility to provide. Tribes can be family groups of more than 30, found families of three, or anything in between!
They are mammals, and their young are called Jawellets or pups. When they are born, Jawels' crystals are soft and very malleable for the first few days before they harden and are no longer able to be manipulated. Patterns in the crystal are often due to events during this sensitive time period, and some Jawels have very warped faces due to accidents around their birth. Once the crystal is hardened, however, it becomes one of the hardest substances known, and cannot be broken unless done so by another Jawel. Jawels care for their young until they are old enough to hunt on their own, about two or three years of age. Up to five pups are born at a time, and though their parents take chief care of them, the whole group is expected to pitch in.
