Wʜᴀᴛ ɪs ᴀ Bᴏɢʟɪɴ?
Boglins are a type of fluffy, friendly “monster dog” which was recently discovered to be found roaming the wilderness in various areas and countries. There are no limits to where they can be discovered on Earth, we do not know the origin of these large beasts yet, but we have come to the conclusion that they did not originally form on Earth itself. Boglins have naturally forming geodes which are fused and “grow” out of the skeleton itself due to chemicals that are introduced before birth. Each boglin contains its own amount of natural “geo chemical” which allows the geode to remain healthy and give it the gorgeous properties it has, such as: color, shine and texture. There have been rare cases where horns, tusks, claws and noses have been known to break after enough brute force and blunt damage has been given. Other cases have been seen where the eyes, and geode parts have lost their lustrous shine. These cases of “lost shine” have been shown to happen due to fatal diseases and infections that slowly break down the chemicals in the boglins body along with other organs, enzymes and proteins inside. Often ending in the death of the boglin.

As boglins are also canines, they have the main attributes of common grey wolves and mutts, as such they come with the average canine problems; and are often more prone to the diseases regular canines carry because of the different chemicals and antibodies they produce. It has been discovered boglins share a common ancestor of some sort more closely with grey wolves than dogs, however some have been known in rare cases to produce infertile offspring with regular mutts.

The average size of boglins is nothing short of amazing, as well as frightening. Horrifying stature and strength has been easily shown in this species, and as such can be seen. The average height being around a towering 68 inches(173cm), weight being just over 170 lbs(77kg) on average. Pups to boglins are often 48 inches(121cm) tall, while their weight is a meager 70 lbs(31kg).

Social behaviour in boglins are found to be a very important part of their species, it’s been discovered that boglins are an extremely sociable species most often being found in packs of at least 25. It has also been noted that most boglins do not decide on an alpha or leader in any case, but instead answer to what could be seen as a deity to the species. It is unknown what this ruler looks like, but it is assumed to be a large, ancient beast which calls for its own every once and a blue moon. There seems to be ancient scripts sprawled across the Earth, high and low, about these beasts. Seeing them migrate across the Earth, their patterns, their different subspecies; Everything. We have yet to discover any rules or ancient beings in the species, but slowly through discovery and following the behaviours and migration patterns of boglins, we are getting closer and closer to the answer.

What is a boglin?

Hᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ I ɢᴇᴛ ᴏɴᴇ?
In order to adopt/buy a boglin, click on any boglin that has "UFA/Free/OTA" on its page! Make sure to read the specific guidelines below each - sb means starting bid, the minimum you can bid. Each auction will have a specific amount you must increase by in order to outbid the last person, though you may go higher than the minimum increase if you wish. The AB is the autobid and if you bid this amount you automatically win the auction. If the boglin is a free competition then requirements will be different for each and will be laid out in the post.
Please read these before entering to ensure you are entering correctly. If a boglin does not have UFA on its page then it is closed and cannot be bought or entered for.

⯌ Boglins are a CLOSED SPECIES. You must follow all of our rules while adopting, owning and otherwise participating in our species. If we catch you breaking the rules you will be given a strike or a ban.
⯌ Do not make your own Boglin without permission(or a myo/custom ticket)
⯌ Absolutely no drama tolerated
⯌ No reselling[this includes USD]
⯌ You may not sell artist search entries, customs or and premade boglins.[you may also not give any artist search entries away for free unless the user has the proper myo/custom ticket]
⯌ No refunds; this includes any shop purchases!
⯌ No editing design or lines without permission(or edit items)
⯌ Autobuy is an autobuy, you cannot try to outbid an ab
⯌ Don't bid on auctions or "buy" flatsales if you cannot pay within 48 hours
⯌ If you get 3 strikes you will be banned
⯌ If you are banned you are allowed to transfer the design out of the species, but not keep as a Boglin; in some cases your boglins will be rehomed if the case is severe enough(this excludes any boglins bought with USD)
⯌ No whining or begging
⯌ Please don't mini-mod or our actual mods can't get paid :-(
⯌ There will be occasional free raffles/competitions, but most are not, please do not whine or argue about this
⯌ 1:30pm MST 5/1/2020; You may not edit any forms once posted, aka do not edit a posted bid form. If we see you edited a form you will be disqualified from that auction/ota/etc.(this does not count for free adopts unless specified etc)
⯌ you can now own up to 25; this will most likely be increased in the future || updated: 1/1/2020
⯌ Boglins MUST HAVE: shiny[add] pupils, shiny eyes, their geode[/jelly-looking]; horns, nose, teeth, nails. Boglins must have horns, a nose, atleast 2 bottom teeth[even with fang edit, or top fangs], front claws.
⯌ You may only autobuy a boglin every 7 days(eg. If you autobought one on Monday you can't buy another until the next Monday)
⯌ No inappropriate/nsfw art, rp or writing of boglins.
⯌ By participating in any activity in the boglins species, such as buying an adopt, buying a myo/custom ticket or any of the like, you are agreeing to ALL of these rules. If you do not follow them, you will be given strikes, or banned. Like listed above, if you are banned you may NOT keep a boglin on the species lines or use ANY sort of concept related to boglins. You must remove how the horns, claws and anything that looks boglin-like originally(meaning not the same coloring scheme where they look geode-like, however we can't force you to remove them completely) and transfer them out of the species. 11/12/2019

Certain custom lined boglins no longer need to be transferred, but these do need to be:
- tater tots still need to be transferred as they are considered babies
- awkward poses where you cannot see the full design need to be transferred(poses such as: xx)
- non-artists may not make custom lined bogs
- no custom lined bogs as customs(unless given permission from softea and she approved it)
- if you wish to apply an edit to a custom-lined boglin it either needs to be applied by the original artist, or you have to get it transferred

⯌ tater tot batches/boglins rules:


- they must be transferred/grown onto official lines before you can use them as an adult boglin
- you can only buy one of the tots out of the batch
- these lines count more as 'extra art' or a baby ref than an official adult ref
- the transfer/growth must be approved by the original artist & no other official staff so the growth/transfer is accurate
- they cost the same as regular boglins as they are still the same as reg bogs.
- tater tots do not have a cooldown for when they can be transferred/grown, they can be at anytime after adopted

Larger(or longer) horns(you may not change shape at this tier, unless it is for making them longer)[unicorn horn counts as rare], pawpad shape change, extra/more large teeth(making all teeth geode), any hair length longer than UC, nose shape change[any shape], different ears(any type), different tail(any type, as long as it doesn't count as a gene splice[eg. fish tail]), vampire fangs(large top fangs, tusks must stay even with this edit), glow, halo, pupil shape(must still be shiny), extra eyes(max 4 eyes total),

Obtaining MYOS, edit/trait items, and breeding items...

MYOS, traits/edit items, and breeding items are all
available to purchase. In the c$ shop & usd/dA shop.

What are MYOS, edit/trait items, and breeding items...

MYOS allow you, or someone else, to create a custom
Boglin. Edit/trait items allow a single trait of that rarity
to be added to a Boglin of your choice. Breeding items
are typically pup selectors, to choose the amount of
offspring, or autopasses, which allow difficult traits
to pass with more success.

About MYOS and edit items...

Anyone can make your MYO, and anyone can add
a trait to your Boglin. You may even hire someone to
make your MYO for you, or add traits. MYOS must be
covered upon being posted. Please ensure the cover
follows CS rules, and has an image on the front, or
shows a piece of the Boglin. Please link to the Boglin's
"under the cover" view for approval. Once approved,
you may uncover your Boglin. Upon making any changes
to your Boglin using edit items, please place and keep
a "Fake" sign on your Boglin until it has been approved
by a staff member. Once approved, you may remove
the "Fake" sign.

Do bought MYOS count towards our Boglin limit?

Not until they have been made and approved!

Are we allowed to create our MYOs off oekaki?

Yes, that's fine!

Are we allowed to custom line our MYO?

No, they're too difficult for staff to approve!
Please use the official lines for bookkeeping purposes!

About reselling and trading boglins and items...

Boglins cannot be resold. Items cannot be resold.
Boglins may be traded for other Boglins, but currently,
not for any item except MYO tickets. Items may be
traded for other items. MYO tickets may not be traded
for anything except Boglins, as they count as Boglins.

About Catnimps...

Catnimps exist in the Boglin's universe, but are a
separate thing and do not count towards your
Boglin limit. There may be adopts and other
little things for them, but the details are still fuzzy.

About Events...

Events carry a variety of activities and adopts.
Some things within the event are free, while
others may cost c$. Event times, dates, and
features are subject to change.

Do we need a Boglin to participate in Events?

Nope! In such a case, you'd sign up with and
use the main page/'default' Boglin, who basically
serves as the species mascot.

If we get a Boglin mid-event, can we edit our form
to replace the default Boglin with our new Boglin?

Yes, however, please don't edit your form, but
instead, repost it with the updated information.
This is the only case where you may 'edit' your form.

Has Boglin number ___ already been released?

There is always an announcement in the Boglin's server
when a Boglin has been released. If there is no
announcement for that Boglin, then it
has not yet been released.

Where can we advertise Boglins and items for trade?

There is a channel within the Boglin's server
made specifically for this: #boglin-and-item-trades

Is there an Artist Search?

Yes! There is an ongoing search you may find here.

Can Artist Entries be made off oekaki?

Unfortunately, no, all artists have to be on-oekaki!

Can we claim Artist Entries?

Yes, you may! If they allow you to claim their
specific entry varies from artist to artist, so
ask them if you'd like to claim their entry!

How long do Artist Entries stay claimed?

This answer depends on the artist's wishes!

Do we have to pay the Artist in order to claim an Artist Entry?

No, Artist Entries are all free, as they're not official adopts!
All you need to make it real is the correct MYO ticket.

Can we change the Artist Entries design that we have
claimed before it has been approved?

As long as you have the permissions, yes, you can!

Do Artists keep the profit from their Boglin Adopts?

Yes! However, there are guidelines for how
much they are allowed to charge.

Is it okay to simplify designs for drawing purposes?

Yes, that's fine, as along as it's not drastic!

Are we allowed to draw people's Boglins for profit?

Of course! You're making the art!

Are we allowed to draw our Boglins as humans or anthros?

Yes, that's fine!

Are we allowed to add accessories to our Boglins?

Accessories would be part of an Alt Reference,
as such, please ensure there is a reference
without accessories. All accessories/clothing
is allowed as long as it doesn't change the design
and lines. Accessories cannot look like traits/edits.

Do we need items to use the nursery search?

Nope! Just need two Boglins.

How many times can Boglins be bred?

Boglins may be bred a maximum of 3 times.

Do we have to wait a certain amount of time
after getting a Boglin to breed it?

Nope, you can breed them as soon as
you get them, if you'd like!

Do we need items to transfer or grow our Boglins?

Nope. And Boglins may be grown or transferred by
anyone. You may also hire someone to do it for you,
and they may charge as they wish.

Are we allowed to calculate our Boglin's c$ worth into USD?

Yes, that's fine, however, please keep in mind
that you may not resell your Boglin! Make sure it
says somewhere that it's not up for sale!
