Hi, thanks for making me feel welcome! I have read all the rules and info, but I'm a little overwhelmed. I think I'll maybe hang around a bit and see how things work. Other than that what would recommend I do first?

Not a problem! If you've got any questions about the information, just let me know <3 You're certainly welcome to hang around and check it out! If you're wanting to jump on in, I'd recommend looking through the sale horses and finding one you like -- if your barn is cutting, for example, you'll want to look for a horse with strong points in its head, shoulders, and hind legs. Nowadays, a horse with 11-13 points in the three stats needed for the discipline should get you a fairly high score each time, and natural talent can really help too. If you're going to want to get into cutting, you'll want a cow or two (or three or four...) as well, and there's actually one available on the RVEC Cattle Thread at the moment so you can check that out ^^ Breed registries are helpful places in the sim, as there are a lot of people there who can help you find resources, horses, and other helpful items relating to that breed, and you can also find a lot of nice horses up for stud and breeding there if you're wanting your first foal to be one you bred yourself. Other than that, I'll be posting the results of the most recent show tonight, so you may want to keep an eye on the show thread! c; A lot of the information seems too much at first, don't worry -- it gets simpler as you get more and more into the sim ^^

Welcome to RVEC, Sandy Hoofprints! I like your barn's name, and I'm impressed by the fact that you took your time to source an image with an appropriate licence. SydneyandStorm has already explained a lot about the sim, but if you need any help, feel free to contact me as well.

annie15970, I can't wait for your barn to be accepted! RVEC has a really nice community, so I hope that you'll like it here.

I can't wait to see tonight's show results. There were a lot of entries this time, so the competitions will be pretty interesting.

Ok thank you so much Syd (if I can call you that), I'll have a look at cows and my first horse in the morning when my brain is switched on!
And thanks apart, I usually don't look for licensed pictures (and I know that's bad) but I felt since it's of an actual person it would be best, and as I was looking that photo caught my eye.
I'm loving it here already, thanks both of you for being so welcoming I will definitely ask for help if any specific question comes to mind

hello, bonjour
please call me believe

herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.
