The problem with changing markings is that you begin to enter the realms of customs. The reason they're premade is because you get a premade design which you shouldn't really be changing. ^^; You're more than welcome to tidy it up, but it really shouldn't change too much.

Ah, I see. I mean, yes, of course I wouldn't make it completely different, but shouldn't people be allowed to tweak it?

So then in this case it's alright to make a color slight lighter or perhaps erase something that makes the design hard to draw?

I think that would be on a case to case basis, and you'd have to ask the original artist. Kiley and the original JBD mods/artists would be better able to answer these questions for you guys.
