Cut off adopting on the 18th dec

So I saw this in the discussion.
There's this thing where people adopt normal pets on the 18th specifically to trick new users into trading their valuable pets for them

I've always thought regular adopts should be stopped on the 18th. It would just avoid this situation alltogether.

And thought, this would be a good suggestion to bring out. It's late I know, but for next year and following years?

It will prevent people from being scammed altogether.

Boah..., non-existing Pb, I would think...

Users to be "scammed" would be New Users, who probably don't know "exactly" as a start what "Decb 18th Pets" means and rather have to be protected about trading their own Decb 18th Pets...

If they only joined the Game/Site to adopt the Decb 18th Pets, without adopting the "regular" monthly Pets themselves and "looking a bit around", then I'm not sure they are "very legit" Users on the Site, I would think...
(Without mentioning all the daily Xmas Advent Pets/Items...)

+ There are enough "Warnings" for New Users to be "careful" and ask for Advice when trading for Decb 18th Pets...

And 28 days later, (=> Jan 15th), those monthly Decb Pets adopted on the 18th (of Decb) will then show their Rarity...

Some people intentionally wait to adopt the monthly pets on December 18th so they can send trades to less experienced players, hoping that the new player sees a newborn with the December 18th adoption date and assumes the pet is valuable. You are correct that we have many resources for new and less experienced players, but monthly pets will not appear in any rarity guides and this may still lead to confusion. When CS was a lot younger I almost fell for this trick before realizing the pet was just a regular adopt.

I really like this suggestion and think the benefits outweigh any potential downsides. Most people adopt on the 1st, so the only people who adopt on the 18th are either players who only return for December 18th, or players who happen to join on December 18th. My only concern is that a legitimate player who just happens to find CS on December 18th might be upset that they cannot adopt and may lose interest in the game.

Then ... Cut off adopting on Dec 18 unless your account is brand new?

Wait no that wouldn't work people would just make new accounts to bypass that...

Honestly I think the idea is a great one but it'd definitely need some work because as Seasonal mentions, it could also scare new players off the site if they happen to join on the 18th and see they can't adopt any of the regular pets at all.

unfortunately it's like the Dec 18th special adopts themselves, people have to ruin it for everyone. There can be a lock to prevent trading during December 18th for freshly adopted normal adopts, just for that day.

... And then, @OP, I would support your Sugg: +1.

And it's not difficult to "implement", and with some "proper" Communication/Explanation from the 1st of Decb on the 'Adoption' Page itself, + the different Announcements by @Tess on the 'Home' Page on 12-01, 12-15 for the Mid Month Update and 12-18 itself for the Decb 18'th Pets, and with "proper" Explanation why the 'Adoption' Page is closed on that 1 day, the only Players that might be "disappointed" to have to wait a few hours before they can adopt the Monthly Pets will be the Scammers themselves, ah-ah...! Anybody else would understand the "why"...

+ In Decb during the Xmas Advent Event, Users are "expected" to come back to the Site every day if they don't want to miss the Daily Xmas Pets, so that wouldn't change much...

{this may be, but the function that prevents new accounts from adopting the 18th Advent boxes more than likely would have the same effect-- so there's going to be people unhappy no matter what.}
{I do support the suggestion. It's unfortunate for legit people who want to adopt on the 18th for whatever reason-- sharing birthdays with the pets, etc-- but a few have to ruin it for the whole and it's better not to leave open the possibility for scams.}
