Oekaki/ art fourms revamp suggestions!

Most people can agree that the art fourms/ oekaki fourms are outdated and cumbersome to use, and this is the thread to offer qol changes or features for a possible rework!

For the case off off-oekaki forums, maybe some sort of little thumbnail gallery like the oekaki boards have. They can be like the normal oekaki boards where they can have a sketch or doodle on the cover done in Chicken Paint, or you can upload an image that you can crop to the appropriate size like the normal dimensions for the regular oekaki boards thumbnails, if that makes sense. Like the art that's posted in the post itself, but jus. lil thumbnail.

Or even, and this an easy one: Make an oekaki subsection that's just for off-oekaki art galleries with on-oekaki covers.
Off-oekaki artists get the visibility of oekaki artists and they're confined to one spot for the mod's sake.

if they could just make a mobile friendly version of chickenpaint, I wouldn’t even need to do covers for art. As an iPad user I’d really like to be able to use oekaki and participate in closed species etc.

i like the thumbnail idea quite a lot! due to everything today i've checked out the art forums and it is mighty hard to tell what things i might want to click when it's just text.

I feel as if recognition of the cs oekaki community-both on and off oekaki artists-getting better treatment could really help the site,,,like I just came back a few months ago and theres so much potential to be had within the community but unfortunately this is a pet adopt site first,,,expanding into the improvement of oekaki itself though could bring in more traffic I think

I would LOVE to see better work (cant think of the english word rn) for ipad and mobile users, it would prompt more of us to actually use oekaki (in my opnion)

I definitely think it'd be cool to have a "Off Oekaki" part of the board that has the usual Oekaki covers/format + is actually within the Oekaki section
so that theres a section for anyone who wants to do a character for character or other challenges, can "color in" from the orginal post and post it to that section with some art of some effort for the cover. This solves the problem of posting "off Oekaki" on the other parts of the Oekaki board as it's just within that spot. + If someone considers it spam they dont have to even look at that part of the forum

Wow, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.... Mods, I have a recommendation that may work for everyone. Forgive me if this has already been brought up, I just barely skimmed through this thread.

I have been on this sight for 10 years and this is the biggest uproar I've seen in the community to my memory. There are clearly strong feelings for both sides of the argument. On one hand, I can see why it is against the rules to post off oekaki art under covers and why it's sorta spam. On the other hand, there is a very large part of the community that can't use oekai for various reasons. By locking them out, you are excluding these people from being able to interact in art games and interact with the community. And lets be honest, nobody uses/likes the art forums. I feel like this is a case where the mods need to compromise with the community.

My solution would be to make a new oekaki sub thread (like the editable/colored in/ humanoid/ ect.) But this one would be dedicated to only off oekai art/entries. This way all "spam" would be in one place where it won't be visible on the other threads for people who don't want to see it and people who don't have access to oekaki can still still interact with the community. Of course off oekaki art will still need to fallow CS rules.

That's just my two cents. I've stuck with CS this long because I love how interactive the art community is on here. The past few months, I have seen a rise in harassments and it really makes me sad to see such a wonderful community start to crumble. All I ask is mods try to listen to everyone's concerns and try to communicate better. There are very few art sites on the internet that are as peaceful as this one. I don't want to see it go down hill.

I think in the case of the off-oekaki art forums, a thumbnail feature is the best bet. I definitely second that.
I know there are worries about an influx of art theft, but I don't think that a thumbnail would directly cause that. Art theft is something we already see anyways in regards to tracing, or downright stolen art in the off-oekaki art shops forum. As long as it's continuing to be moderated, and those threads get reported, there shouldn't be any real apocalypse of theft sprouting up from it.

Another option you could think about that's an alternative to a new oekaki board solely for showcasing off-site art, is moving the off-oekaki art forums to somewhere where they're easier to find. You could add header text like the forums, to separate off-oekaki and on oekaki art, and then simply post the art forums under the "art" tab at the top of the site. Terrible mock-up but something like this
