Suggestion: Re releasing items on the 18th

So this idea came up during a discussion on Discord, you can get pets on December 18th to keep them in circulation and to stop trading for them impossible in the future, but not items. As of late trading for older items has become as hard if not harder than trading for store pets, they are falling into this "too hard to get" category, but why? Partly because few care for them, partly because they're already locked away in collections, but mostly because they simply don't become available again. Currently they're released just like pets, in events, free in store, and even through events like the cake contest of 2011 and the rainbow smoothie chat of 2009.

Our solution? We suggest to release items alongside pets on the 18th, a small handful of random items from 2008-present. Of course this wouldn't include exclusive items like semi-customs, customs, cake set pieces, and store items because they (like store pets) were earned or purchased and it'd be unfair on those who worked hard if someone else was just given them.

Pros:

> items get put back into circulation
> collectors have a better chance at completing their collections
> allows newer users access to older items
> keeps the item market flowing

Cons:

> scammers and ninjas will know what items are rarer and more valuable, more so since items don't yet have rarities
> people may get angry at not getting good items etc, but this is the same for pets, people just have to learn to move on

This would be amazing. It would be fair.
It's so hard seeing free items reach store pet/item value. At least with non-store pets you will always have the chance to complete a collection if you work hard enough. That can't be said for non-store items at the moment, they're disappearing just like older store pets.

Exactly! It really is tragic, but it's harder to see because items don't have tags like pets do, not that they need them I suppose.

I support that idea heavy! I struggle really hard to get some free items which are just ... it seems like nobody has them.

Honestly I think CS would benefit from this quite a bit! There are a lot of item collectors out there either looking to finish their collections or make that one amazing dress up they've been thinking about for a long time. I myself really like items, and sadly I've nearly given up on having some items because they're just too hard to get. It's not that I'm against a challenge, but there comes a point when the time and effort put into getting enough pets and/or items to afford one of these older rare items isn't worth it. At least if a few a re-released every year then people stand a chance. And hey, who knows, maybe a little gift of three items will get people more excited for items!

Now that we've got the Lost & Found giving items some love, it'd be nice to see them getting re-released on the 18th too! I can see store items not being released for the same reason as store pets, obviously, and things like the Rainbow Smoothie probably wouldn't be in the pool (unless it was 1 a year or something like that), but I can see this being useful!

The rainbow smoothie is classed as a custom item, so it's not on the archive, so I doubt it'd be added for the same reason store pets aren't. c:
