I see your point. Maybe it could be an image saying that these were the parents from May '11 or whatever. Or maybe just the "Adopt our puppies" image from the adopt page?

Queenie! wrote:Support, but I can see both sides of the argument. On the one hand, having them shown in the archive with their original dates would be useful if you're the kind of person that likes to have a complete "family" of pets.
But on the other hand, I can see how it might be confusing to some newer players. If you're just skimming through the archive looking for pets to add to your wishlist, you might not notice the original date of the parents listed, so you might assume that they come from a different date than they really do. This would be especially problematic for the given month's trade thread, as you might get users asking for the parents, assuming they just missed them in their adopts, thus causing people to break rules and just generally create confusion.
Really, it's not that difficult to find some people willing to help locate the parents in the archive if you're having trouble. I can see its uses, but there would be flaws also.

See with this suggestion I was more imagining just using the parent duo image they would use on the 2nd gen adopt page, not like actually list the parent pets in the archive along side the babies. So like for this month you would show this image in the archives

I don't particularly have a need for this but I could see how others would. I think you'd have to find a way to keep the archive from getting cluttered though as it could push out the timelines like the second page of August 2009.

If they did this and also listed the years/months they came from, I could see it working.

partial support!
i know the feeling of struggling to search for 2nd gen parents
maybe there could be some sort of link on the pages of parent pets to their 2nd gens ?
or else, these cute images created for the 2nd gen adopt page of the parents together (minus the "adopt" text) in some part of the archive?
Image

plus... the wiki is sorely behind and i havent been able to rely on it over looking through the archive myself

i agree, some people not paying attention/new to the game may make things difficult, but that's a similar problem that exists with dec 18 rereleases too

The wiki is currently behind yes but I am trying to update it now that I have the perms to do so. There are just many many pages that need updating, and I have a life outside of CS, so it can be slow.

I did have what was, in my opinion, a very nice update for the 2nd gen pages. Currently I am working on overhauling page to page navigation though, and writing history pages when that hurts my brain too much. So it has to wait. I'm sorry.

There's a link in my signature to the wiki update thread. Soon I will be asking there what other improvements people would like to suggest for the wiki. If you'd like to be involved please bookmark it and keep an eye out for the next community involved update, coming soon.

Otherwise I don't think "the wiki is out of date/slow" is a fair argument, because the wiki is in the process of a major overhaul currently that will fix this very issue, and redoing how the 2nd gens are displayed and formatted in the archive will almost certainly take longer.

Burrito Bunny, I appreciate your work on the wiki, but most casual users like myself use the archive more than the wiki.

The wiki is a great resource, I fully believe that and am glad it exists, but I would also like to see the parents featured in the archive.

Could you please bring this to the attention of the staff who would be responsible for the change to occur?

I know you work hard on the wiki and you do your best. I am sure everyone that uses it appreciates your work. But it would still be so much more easier to have a simple link or image in the archive that would point to who the parents were. I have always wondered why that wasn’t done in the first place and I am still going to support this suggestion.

I myself would appreciate it in the archive. I’m mobile only user and flipping between this and a wiki and then back and through the and etc is just a lot of work.
I can’t see why just because we have the wiki why it couldn’t also be a neat feature to add in the archive. I always find myself wondering about the parents but never bother to try and actually find them. ^^
