Suggestion (1) Supporters

Postby Klea » Mon Jul 02, 2012 4:19 am

I decided to recreate my suggestion since it got deleted by that terrible storm c:

Ever had a friend on your friends-list change their username? Have you ever changed your username and not wanting to send out loads of PMs saying who you are? I have a solution....

First off, have you ever had a trade that you offer a pound pet in... and you get that little sad auto-message from your pet? Why not have the same auto-message sent out when you or one of your friends changes there username?

What would happen when you change your username.... Before you change your username... you must enter your current password... Well... there would now be a little click box where it would say...
"Notify my friends about my username change?".... then of course you would click the "Yes" or the "No"...

What would happen when your friends change there username..... When a friend of yours on your friends list changes there username.... and if they decide they want the PM sent out.... you get a PM stating:

"______________________ has recently changed their username to __________________"

***You would only recieve the PM if you added the person onto your friends list***

Let me know your thoughts by posting!

The remaining question is.... Are you a supporter?

No support. It would be way too easy to grief someone as a revenge tactic when you find out you're on someone's foe list simply by changing your name 200 times.
As far as I'm aware, spam PMing is against the rules. Changing your name is not, so that user would get away with it scott free with no consequences.
If that user has messages set up to auto delete like I do, they can clear an entire inbox in a snap.

Some people change their username to avoid being recognized because they're tired of their old identity or have had problems with other players. People have no control or knowledge of who has them added to their friend's list - you can friend anyone, it doesn't affect their friendlist or notify them. If we had something like this, it would encourage more people to create a new account when they have problems with other users since it would be the only way to hide who you were. But doing so would break our rules.

If you talk to someone regularly then you'll probably notice the username change by recognizing the content of the recent messages they sent you. If you don't talk to them regularly and wonder who they were you can send them a message asking what their previous username was. If you don't talk to them enough that you don't notice the change or notice it months later when it's too late to ask, then they probably weren't really a 'friend'.
