Being a spoiled cat on a dairy farm was supposed to be an easy life; Bumble had no reason to hunt, drank all the milk the farmers allowed, and lived with the modern wonders of heating and air conditioning. This also gave her time to wander around and wonder about the purpose of cats' existence. Her favorite pastime was gathering old legends and myths, especially from an old barncat neighboring her. Her name was Wonder and she was only technically a barn cat as she lived in a barn but it had long been abandoned. Wonder had travelled far in her young days thus accumulating many stories from far away lands. Bumble's favorite stories she recounted was of past murmurings of large groups of cats living together, sometimes even battling other groups. Well, Wonder called them Clans but it was safer to refer to them as groups back at Bumble's farm. Twist and Velvet liked to make fun of Bumble whenever she mentioned any reference to the myths of Clans. But she could dream of running alongside of the sleek moor cats or hunting within a dense forest. "The warriors would have two names essentially," Wonder explained one day, "The first name would be given at birth and the suffix would exemplify a specific trait that they demonstrated."
I want a warrior name, Bumble thought of possible suffixes for her on the way back to her farm but made no progress by the time she ran into the two lanky mousers.
"Thinking about those lame clan cats?" Twist's mouth curled into a smile.
Bumble didn't notice the cruel undertone and thought maybe the two were starting to become interested in what Wonder was teaching her. "I was actually!" She closed her eyes and puffed out her chest proudly, causing her to miss the snarky glance between the mousers. "I'm coming up with my own warrior name like the old Clans used!"
"Don't leave us hanging," Velvet nudged Bumble rather harshly. "Come on, what did you decide?"
"It must be a very important decision," Twist goaded on her other side, "Haven't you made up your mind yet?"
To be honest, Bumble hadn't and was getting flustered by all of the sudden attention. "Um..." She stammered.
"You're never going to be a real warrior if you can't think on your feet," Velvet hissed in her ear.
"Can't catch a mouse, can't even name yourself," Twist's breath tickled her whiskers.
"Tu-tumble," Bumble managed to stutter out. It was the first word that came to her head, maybe having to do with rhyming her actual name.
"That's quite fitting!" Twist crowed while Velvet cackled. "Bumbletumble! The least formidable warrior!"
"The cat kibble quakes in fear I'm sure," Velvet gasped out between laughing fits. "The menacing Bumbletumble."
"Stop it," Bumbletumble muttered now clued into their true intents. She tucked her tail in between her legs and dashed off as fast as she could. After finding a relatively clean pile of shavings shared with an expecting dairy cow, she curled up with her tail shielding her face. One day I'll leave these dumb mousers behind, she promised herself, I can live on my own; I'll show them. And a small voice in the back of her mind also wished she would find another group of cats to live with, ones that were less catty and maybe even cats that donned two names.

Smokeshow volunteered to go on as many patrols as Starlingsky would allow during the spring and even into the summer months (participation dropping during the colder, boring months Starlingsky noticed) but spent most of the patrol digging small holes in the ground. The others noticed of course but the patrolling did get accomplished, so no one was going to be the one to bring their strange habit up.
What Smokeshow was really doing was trying to find seedlings, especially acorns, in different stages of growth. It was too easy to find an non-sprouting acorn, they were pretty sure there were millions of those suckers littering the forest floor. It was also pretty easy to find an acorn fully broken apart and sapling breaking threw the topsoil. Smokeshow already had those two distinct stages in their collection. What was the real joy of finding was acorns with roots still completely underneath the ground as each of them seemed to be unique. Some grew sideways, some grew straight vertical, some grew twisted like the trees they would eventually grow into, and Smokeshow loved them all. They used their found examples to teach the kits in the nursery aging and more importantly to respect the trees surrounding them as they are living beings as well.
But that was also a problem; they were still living beings. Smokeshow had built a special "nest" for them inside of camp but in a dip that was mostly damp throughout the green seasons. Everyday they still had to go down to the river bank and dampen their bundles of moss that laid on top of the acorns, keeping their roots and stems wet throughout the day. Most of the time this was enough to keep them satisfied but often during the hottest days of the summer, especially if a drought is in progress, it was much more difficult to keep their collection happy. They couldn't use TwistedClan's precious moss supply to water their plants as the thirst needs of the clan came first, so they kept up a routine of walking down to the river themself and dipping their longhaired tail into the water and laying with the acorns themself. They would repeat this process every time their tail dried and became a piece of moss themself. This wouldn't deter them from clan duties, they just hung out with their plants instead of the cats, which Smokeshow wasn't too bothered with.
Sadly, every winter took out their entire collection and they would have to completely restart in the spring. But they didn't blame mother nature for doing what she had to do...and they liked the thrill of the search.

Every summer, Marbledgaze used nearby water sources to her advantage, keeping cool by wading in the rivers and keeping a sharp eye out for the shimmering scales of fish swimming by. She always had a catch by noon and spent the hottest hours of the afternoon snacking on a fish in the shade. Her short fur dried quickly and she enjoyed taking in the green scenery surrounding her while avoiding any companions. Her schedule did not vary.
Every fall, Marbledgaze scouted for a suitable den to be used in the winter. She preferred a den already dug out and easily accessible, so it usually took her a good couple months to find one to her liking. Marbledgaze didn't mind; she enjoyed the leaves crunching beneath her feet as she discovered new lands. She easily slipped out of sight if another cat passed her way. Her schedule did not vary.
Every winter, Marbledgaze hunkered down in a warm den, usually an abandoned fox hole. She had a short coat, so preserving her energy for hunting and keeping warm was her main priority. She did not seek out other cats or problems; she was quite content with hunting, eating, sleeping, and watching the snow fall. Her schedule did not vary.
Every spring, Marbledgaze followed the snow melt down to a river. The closeness of the water allowed the dead forest to quickly be reborn before her eyes. The streams ran brimmed with fish and the forest was filled with mice and shrews. Possible territory disputes were ignored by the abundance of prey. She was not disturbed. Her schedule did not vary.
Until...
