You said you like unsual dog breeds, and the first one I thought of was a Chinese Crested Dog! I don't think I've really designed a character of this breed before, so it was a fun challenge! I hope you like this guy ^^

If you decide you like him, I'd like a character design in return! Perhaps some sort of aquatic animal mixed with some type of land animal? Like these characters! I'd prefer it not to be a canine though - I have a lot of canines and I'd like something new. Maybe a hyena or a fossa? Or any other feral land animal is fine, just do whatever you think it best!
