Travelling was hard for the group, especially since they were a mix of different species that would normally fight and kill each other but the threat of the fade was near and if everyone didn’t stand together then everyone would die. Vivian and her mate Rose crossed the river to the cave where their youngest pups Pastel and Alpha were sleeping. Skylar the older pup followed knowing that her parents weren’t in the mood for her tricks tonight, as the appointed leaders of the group they had too many responsibilities and couldn’t afford to waste time with trouble.
As the other animals began to get ready to sleep a peculiar creature was watching from the shadows, she had antennae and unusual patterns on her fur. She was a Midsummer Night, a rare mix between a Galaxy and a Butterfly. Normally good but when evil holds more power than most in her claws. The Midsummer was young, maybe a few months but still potentially dangerous.
The next morning Vivian awoke to the sounds of a strangled cat call. Vivian immediately aroused her family from their sleep and they followed her outside to see the Midsummer Night howling and the sky turned a weird shade of violet, symbolism of the Midsummer’s first kill. Her howl was unnatural yet beautiful and it caught the attention of Skylar and as if she had no control the young pup ran to the Midsummer and touched her nose. The Midsummer’s howl is often used as a way to find her soulmate and it was Skylar.
I have no idea how this happened but I might write this better on book creator or something later, I just made the scene and suddenly the words started flowing.
