In Loving Memory "Interactive Memorial Site"

Postby Gold Feathers » Tue Oct 28, 2014 9:15 pm

http://inlovingmemory.boards.net/ -- Our forums for discussion (not the actual site)

I have been recently considering making a website called "In Loving Memory" dedicated to the remembrance of the deceased. Such may include, pets, family members, friends, distant people whether it is celebrities or someone who you thought as a "hero", "role-model" or even suicide victims etc. Of course this would mean that I would have to code the whole thing; and most probably spend money, time and effort to make such a site, so before I even get started on that, I need your opinions.

So if I created such a dedicated Site, would YOU sign up and contribute? Whether it is a short message, lighting a candle or even writing a story/poem dedicated to your lost ones? Please answer below!

Some examples of recent works; this one was supposedly the "front" or as some would refer to "the main" banner of the page/site. Like the look of it? I'll be making more in my spare time. (possible requests could open soon)

That is basically all I have for now; come back tomorrow for more updates c: I will be adding different types of candles; small sizes, big ones and maybe even some monuments/graves for the remembrance garden... which reminds me, time to draw the pixel Remembrance Garden! Yay! xDD

To do List:
*Draw samples of graves
*Draw roses at different stages
*Sketch better map..lol

(Note: yes I drew every single one of these candles/art on here so DO NOT under any circumstance claim them as your own!)[/span][/div]

You click on a prolonged yet anticipated link to the Memorial Site "Inlovingmemory.com"...or something along those lines. You are in little or no time, directed to a neatly presented page; whole page is darkly decorated and lit up with candle lit effects. A tranquil feeling emits; you feel in the mood for exploring this vast place. The banner is most welcoming whilst the navigation is very straightforward yet intricate in a sense.

It takes you a while to realize that the site is open to guests so that you may linger without signing up. However you stumble upon a sign saying that you must register in order to place activity inside the site and contribute to the many losses.Your uncertain but nonetheless you decide to register. You are met with a scroll layout. A form almost; you fill out the form with your name, date of birth, email... All which are kept confidential between you and the staff only! It is your responsibility to keep it this way!

After you are done you are directed to a nicely presented, very detailed, almost realistic-looking map. You are intrigued by the design... The Wilted Field, Rainbow Bridge, Paradise.... You scan the map for a while and suddenly you stop. "Remembrance Garden". Sounds interesting. So you click on that; a garden divided into two sections. One with rows of graves is presented; whilst the other is a well-managed lane. Above you read the engraved words; "Submit your Loved one". Without hesitation you hit the button.

After filling out the required fields you click "Submit". Depending on the last answer that you picked "Cremated" or "Buried" you are directed to:

A) Cremation
You see a small Weeping Willow with drooping branches as it towers over the lands; graves are set out neatly in rows, as you scan the headstones for your lost one(s). You find it, the first one ahead. You read the information that you just submitted. You now have the choice to add a caption or a small quote on the headstone. (Originally it will say “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”). After entering a desired quote, a moderation approval awaits. After that is done and all is approved, you may place a red rose which can be found in your inventory.

B) Burial
You are in front of a small Altar. Thousands of candles are set in rows, giving off a bright, almost blinding light. You look ahead to see a small box (choice of colour is available): a small note is placed on top with a small rose placed beneath. The note reads the information you have entered whist the rose signifies the number of days you have visited your loved one. You may also leave a small note/quote/goodbye letter next to it "whatever your heart desires".
Placing Roses and Others

Each day that you visit the grave or ash Urn; a red rose can be added. The rose count is unlimited and can be found in your inventory however you may only place one a day**. Once you have collected 10 roses upon your grave/urn, you can choose to revive a wilted rose from the Wilted Field. If however, you have no wilted roses, you can "help someone else out".

**An option to visit other graves/Ash urns and place roses on them etc is being considered.

Wilted Roses

Wilted roses land in the "Wilted Field", where they are basically useless. Ever heard of resuscitation? Well when you collect 10 roses you can revive 1 wilted rose from the pile. However you may always choose to help someone else out and revive their red roses instead.

Ways to Lose Roses (Wilt them)
*If you don't visit the grave/urn for "insert time period here"
*If you forget to visit on the anniversary
*If the deceased is actually alive (their memorial will be removed)
*If you get banned, break a rule etc

Natural
*After 1 month all roses over a month old will wilt and candles will burn out. (You can however donate money and restore 20 wilted roses in the field, depending on the wilted rose count).

The deceased with the most surviving flowers will be featured on the special forum main page; other than that, all the deceased will be listed in the remembrance Garden.

Also note, the remembrance garden is somewhat like a list; where all the dead are placed so it doesn't matter whether you choose Cremated or Buried; they all land there. Like a walk in the park....or a graveyard.

Buying/donating/membership privileges

When donating money you get 20 points which you can use to Un-wilt dead roses. But you can also buy:

*Candles to place on the grave
*10 points for un-wilting dead flowers
*2 Extra Urns/Graves
*list is still being created

**Note that roses are unlimited and can be found in the inventory. You only need points to un-wilt your dead roses or the roses found in the Wilted Fields. The less of a wilted rose count in the Fields, the more privileges oneself can get. (currently unknown) Note that the money is used to keep up the site and keep it running etc
Remembrance Garden
Here you may view all the deceased from the beginning of In Loving Memory's existence. You can, as stated before, place candles, notes and other objects to remember the lost ones.
______________________________________________________
Wilted Fields
Here lies a pile of broken dreams, forgotten memories and empty promises. These red roses have lost their petals and their colour faded to grey.. Their sweet scent has long lost its magic... But hang on, you can still somewhat revive them; maybe even send them on a journey alongside your lost one.

The Rainbow Bridge
Where you may share all the sweetest literature, music, poems and any kinds of media about your lost furry friend (I'll be visiting this frequently)

The Paradise
Where humans after death end up in. However I am considering turning this into a gallery/media corner instead.

"In Loving Memory" Monument
Originally was meant to be called "The Crest Fallen" or "CrystalWolfTears" named partly after the deceased admin; however now that I come to think of it, personal reasons should be kept off and this should be dedicated to everyone. Here you may place a rose, candle or a note. After a year the note will be blown away, candle will burn out and the rose will wilt. However you may look at the history and see all the past candles, roses and notes etc that were ever placed here. Everyone in the community may view it, even guests.

I would for sure sign up for something like this. I had a 1 year old son that passed away a few years ago and I think something like this could help with people who are grieving with lost family members, pets, loved ones, etc. This is a great idea. A great way to pay your respects to someone that you loved so dearly!
