Ok, so my tactic is nothing special. It is simply waiting. You wait until a few hours after the release and then go and grab your eggs. Why do this? Because most people want the first eggs, so by sitting back and watching them snatch them up, you can try and grab yours when there are less people around to compete with.
I do this every release. It really helps

Yaay! Finally got the new eggs. I pretty much gave up when they first came out, I got tired of: "Sorry, this egg has been taken by another user." Don't the new eggs look a little artsy compared to older ones? I can't wait to see what they grow into!

I got the new eggs.
I thought I missed them when i checked this thread this morning.
I got one right after i started hunting though. And then the rest within a minute a couple hours later because i kept forgetting to go check every five minutes.
It wasn't hard though.
