Totally... I never even knew of it until I traded a Pound pet... ._.
Now I just avoid it in trading, and try and only adopt Pound pets I really want.

What's an ALT lottery?

The "Alt Lottery" is when someone collects a bunch of Black/Vine eggs and hatches them then abandons any non-alts, which is probably why we see alot of normal blacks and vines on the AP.
My first Black Dragon (who's a 3rd gen and was the first hatchling I caught off the AP) was probably abandoned by an alt lottery player.
