The old Dryad/Willow stood as she had for centuries, eons, lifetimes, as no one was ever sure how long she had really been there. Indeed for as long as any remember...maybe forever. She shrugged her limbs gently as if letting go a long held breath, though it sounded more like a sigh in the whispering of the wind through the leaves, and as she settled back to stillness a face formed, appearing as if it had always been there in her trunk, her eyes opened and one would swear she was smiling as she began to speak....
Imagine... a time so far and away that it is sometimes hard to believe it could have existed, where not even the essence of man dared to breathe. Imagine as well, a land of inviolability, of the promise-of myths and legends where it might seem more of dream than a reality. Let me assure you however, that it is real and its lands course and cascade with that of magic and dreams. This was a place of peace, given breath and life by its mothers and fathers those being the very gods and goddesses of Pandemonium.
As they breathed life unto the land they took hold of their namesakes and took complete control of those areas that they deemed to be that of their own creation, sending elemental guidance to the land and the creatures that gave shape to the core of Pandemonium’s provinces, the lands came alive and flourished well. It all stayed as it should for this period, as if dreaming and in doing so creating its own origin within the myths. For a time, all was right and nearly perfect.
Be it as it must however, time marches on and the provinces fell into dispute, for not all the elemental desired coexistence: or harmony. Not all the shadows desired the embrace of light’s enchantment. Take such a flaw, such a clash, and bring forth a human element that til now had dared not venture upon such lands: thus causing the variances to twist and turn like a cyclone bringing all it consumes to the point of chaos. Thus this peaceful era fell and in its wake gave birth to the age of man or Mania, if you will.
But I do digress, so let us begin again. Long ago, in the lands of Old, where myths and dreams intertwined with and against fate - where not one man dared venture- slept a utopia. A land wrought with magic, desires, beauty and yes, sometimes darkness. A civilization of unique origin that as all must do, gave way to the age of man, an age of new beginnings. Now only time will tell what lays ahead for the provinces of pandemonium, and the myths and dreams from which it began.
Pandemonium you say... but I thought this land was called "Mythodreas"?
Well and right you are my friends, indeed it was is and ever shall be... "The Land of Mythos and Dreams...MYTHODREAS."
Yearning to know more? Lean in...listen close...and I will impart to you some of the lesser known tales of this land, but remember, as the land lives and breathes, it's stories live on with it and may never be fully told, so heed me well as YOU my friend may have to continue the tales once my time is at its end.
