it seems they've become more common at both the banner and crystal dig since last rollover. but the answer to your question is no; that information isn't public.

Nope! The pets from the crystal dig are all still available, it just seems that you are more likely to dig up a crystal than a pet. ^^

The new plant items from today are free items from the Giant Forest.
The new dinosaur "night light" items are free adopts from the Luminescent Caverns.
The fossil items are token trade-ins from the Cave Paintings.
There is also a new set of accessories from the Village. ^^

Does the energized crystal have any use or is it just another item to have?

A use for the energized crystal has not been introduced yet, but there may be one coming in the future!
