Edit - that is really strange, the archive shows 2008, but mine have an adopted stamp of 2009, I am confused now lol

Back in 2008-2010, several litters of pets were what's referred to as "extended releases" now - they were available for multiple months instead of just one.
The 2nd Gens released in August 08 were available until August 2009.
Other pets that were available for a long time include the warrior cats and the first and second set of butterfly wolves, as well as the Tess horses.
