yeah, this happens with most newer pets, most often the "cooler looking" ones. the demand will die down significantly within just a few hours lmao. so it'll definitely be worth waiting rather than trading for it now, if you don't want to spend a bunch of cream trying to get it through trade-ins.

Are people still getting squirrels from the mine. I only got a few when they first came out. Since then I only get crystals. Did they stop coming out entirely?

I am wondering if maybe they tweaked the odds a bit. AFAIK they never discontinue gathering (e.g. 2017 kelp forest or 2019 mine) or banner pets entirely, but I think there have been times that later in the event the probability of a token v pet was changed. I got almost entirely squirrels the first couple days and am now getting crystals, and I saw a few posts about how common the squirrels were, so perhaps they were made less probable in response.

I'd go out on a limb and say that's just RNG in action, paired with the fact that people will report lots on the squirrels while they're still new and fresh. My sister got three in a row today while I've had pretty much nothing but crystals the entire time lol!
