they're actually just based on previous litters, not grown up versions of newborns, considering some of these pets never had newborn states to begin with. I think the proper term would be "new littermates"

But on CS, the term "Grown-up Newborn" in the context of the advent calendar has a specific meaning: GUN pets are pets that are based on exactly what the newborn looked like.
For example, here's the "Grown-up Newborn" of the January 09 rainbow litter:![]()
It looks exactly the same as the puppy, and that was the concept behind the 2015 advent nostalgia litter. Bunches of pets based on what newborns would have grown into if they never changed their looks.
Usually newborns are only a "preview" that gives us an idea of what to expect from a litter, rather than an outcome by themselves. (2nd and 3rd Gens are often an exception.)
Today's pets are just additional littermates, so while that does make them "grown up" just like their littermates, calling them grown-up newborns would be a bit confusing, since that already describes a different type of pet we have^^
