Okay. I've finished the theory about who I think is the culprit.
So, it was the baby lion.
Her motive? Her mama keeps ignoring her/telling her not to do things. She could have broken the instruments to ruin the jamboree and get mama's attention. Mama may be hosting the jamboree so without all of the work she'd have time for her baby. Another motive is looking at the "pretty things". She could have thought the instrument was pretty and accidentally broke them somehow, or purposefully tried to steal them but failed.
Going by Cuttler's evidence list, the crime-doer would need a key to the jamboree. Baby lion is a princess, she would definitely know where to get a key/already had one.
An anonymous person claims they have seen flashes of red by the instruments. It's pretty obvious this is a RED herring (haha) alluding to the dragon or the chef. But I think that's too obvious. Baby lion could have brought one of her toys (one of them is red and orange!), or more likely has put in a false tip framing someone else when she realized what bad thing she did.
The tentacle marks could have simply been Cuttler investigating and leaving evidence accidentally, or baby lion thought ahead to the likeliest suspects and used tentacles as a red herring.
I also have a lot of reasons as to why Chef Calamari couldn't have done it, or at least is an extreme red herring. First, the tentacles on him are on his head. He wouldn't have slammed his head on the ground if he was planning to destroy instruments and ruin the jamboree. That would be pretty suspect. Plus there was a flash of red apparently, and his mane is more maroon-purple. He also seems to care a lot about his job, so why would he risk it so much?
Also, Baby lion sold her COUSINS to us. For toys to help her commit the crime unnoticed (she could have disguised herself!)
TLDR: Baby lion did it for attention and love. (Oh my tree what am I doing with my life??)

I wanted to point fingers at the baby lion as well due to the keys, boredom, and want for attention. The Jamboree has drawn away everyone's time. I just couldn't get it to fit in with any of the staff clues or flash of red or tentacles (though you explained that) so that's why I haven't said anything yet.

Edit: Also the fact that they were broken with shells and rope was it? She could have gotten it off the decorations table where the pretty things were but not so sure. Need more clues to expand the theory

I think Calamari is a red herring.

1. he has tentacles but they're on his head, why would you slam your head into the floor unless you were trying to make yourself a suspect. he has tentacles for food but he has to prepare that food.
2. if someone found out he'd sabotaged it he'd lose his job which he obviously seems to care about. he's stressed but he's still preparing all the food and why sabotage it when he's already worked so hard?
3. the flash was described as RED. his mane is more maroon, and at night when it took place it would have looked like a dark purple. not red.
4. they wouldn't have the first suspect be the one who did everything. plus everyone is pushing blame on him, making us all suspect him but there are lots more suspects who would have stronger motives than just wanting a break.

id hate for it not to be the chef, but im now leaning towards the mer-cub.


- she had a red kite and she's small enough to where someone could have trouble seeing her at eye level
- who's to say her paws arent tentacles? she is part fish.

- she could have found a key lying (lion-ing) around in her mom's office or something and thought it would be fun to see the jamboree early on.

-while playing with the kite, she could have accidentally knocked stuff over, breaking the instruments.

I don't know.. it says there were things used to break the instruments not just them being knocked over. and I don't think she is old enough to learn how to use and key, and how would she reach the lock?

the mer-cub is still the only one not on the pin-board though, so maybe!

From the beginning Boutique dog and the dragon have been asking for Seaweed, Shells & wood.

wood could be from the stage. Not sure how the other items could relate to the mer-cub though

although i see how wood could easily have come from the stage, that is extremely easy to immediately figure, so i honestly think wood has something more to do with it
if it was just a fake-out, why would it be hidden (aka the ripped off piece)?
