NPC stands for Non-Player Character

what does that even mean

It means they're a character in the game, but they are not controlled by a real person. They are purely computerized.

can't we just say pets ?

You'll find NPC's are used in many, many games ^^ Take... Ni No Kuni or maybe even Cube-World, there are many NPC's around the place, some NPC's do nothing but speak, while others give you items or quests. Without NPC's, some games would be fairly useless and boring, NPC's add to a game a lot more than people would think. Whisker wires! Think of how silly a game would look if you were a person running down a hall way, and the story said it was 'filled to the brim with people' and you saw no one, only to be randomly stopped and have someone most randomly pop out of no-where.

Calling them simply pets, could also make people think their are more pets to find, or something's up x3 No idea why I had to say that, it's just weird how my brain works with these things.

Also, to keep on topic of the thread~
Why does no one like those simply lovely blizzard bloom flowers? I find them wonderful~

What if the Pupflies are trying to wake us.. *GASP* What if we are all sleeping? We got some comfy beds from Cherry, designer pyjamas from Noddy, and some adorb stuffed Dinos, too! And what if the flowers we smelled made us sleep? We are in our dreams, fighting for them! Like what the Mayor said:

I hear there is some trouble in Dreamland which is the reason for all the nightmares leaking down here. You'd better go see if anyone needs help!

We are going to obliterate the Nightmares.. or are we destroying each others Dreams? The armor, Gryphons, and Fairies are for the Dreamers! The Dream Catchers and Ravens fight for the Nighmares! (Rats... are just rats, lol) And at the end, there would be a celebration in the Liar, or a gallant buffet in the Castle! Its all been leading up to it, I just know it! <33
