since the age of firelord sozin, the imais have been involved within the earth kingdom, establishing colonies to rule over. they're a very large, very proud family. daizen is one of his parents' seven children, and many of his siblings have copious amounts of their own spawn.
the end of the war meant the end of the imai family's iron grip on the colonies. they were not to be forced out, though, and weaseled into a place of comfortable standing within the new, mixed society. much of daizen's family returned to the fire nation, as their lives wouldn't be as glamorous if they remained in the colonies. daizen is perfectly happy with where he lives, and wouldn't have it any other way. he studies under a master bender, and makes it a point to educate himself in a wide realm of subjects. one day, he's expected to continue his family's legacy and dedicate himself to politics, and they make that known by forcing their way of life down his throat. parties, arranged marriages, manipulation... it's a world daizen would rather avoid, but he knows there's no way to avoid continuing the family legacy. he would do as his three older brothers did before him- assume power and play the generous politician role.

matsuda is tall, uncomfortably so. he often complains about not feeling at home
in his own skin, but over the years he's learned to use his great height to his adva-
ntage. matsuda played for one of the better schools in nagoya, until he was ripped
from his comfortable spot as a starting setter to go live in sendai with his family.
being recruited to shiratorizawa was a life changing event for him, and he's deter-
mined to be his best for the team.
matsuda is almost always in a state of constant confusion. classes, friends, relatio-
nships, future planning... they're simply not his forte. the one good thing he has g-
oing for him is his ability as an athlete. matsuda has angel hands- at least that's w-
hat all of his past teammates and coaches have said. his feather light touch and p-
inpoint accuracy with a volleyball has been unparalleled thus far. he's not necessa-
rily cocky about it, but he's very confident in his sets.
