"RAFAEL AUGUSTUS JACKSON, Son of Percy Jackson, Descendant of t
the Gods" are words that Rafa has heard ever since he was a child. Be
ing born the son of one of the greatest demigods to exist meant every
one would expect him to be just like his father: strong, smart, a natu
real born leader. And Rafa wanted to be all of those things - strong, s
mart - but not because his father was, but because he was. So Rafa g
drew up proving himself to the world, and more importantly to himse
lf, that he was more than just his dad's son. Yet no matter how hard R
afa tried, the name Percy Jackson would always be tied to him. It bec
ame a thorn in his side, suffocating him each day. He turned against h
is own family, cursing out the name and wishing that he had never be
en born the son of the great Percy Jackson. Rafael ran away from his
family, much like many other young demigods, but not because of th
e monsters in the outside world, but because of the ones in his own.
Rafael lived on the streets for years, hiding in the shadows hoping t
hat one day his parents would forget about him. But they never did.
They searched for months and had no luck, so they were forced to r
etreat. However, Percy Jackson sent a message to the ocean, hopin
g that his son would some day return to his origins. Rafael never did
return, but as he grew older, Rafa learned how to connect with the
sea, the water surrounding him. He learned how to control it, yet h
e could never fully embrace it because it was another link to his fat
her. Yet deep down, even with all the hatred, the sorrow, the pain,
Rafael could not rid himself of this inherent connection between hi
mself and Percy. As Rafa learned about the water, listened to it, tal
ked to it, Rafael's hatred began to seep away, as if the water was a
bsorbing it, and for once in his life, he began to feel at peace. And
